When Creed opened, Ryan Coogler did an interview with Deadline where he talked about how he grew up on the Rocky movies, watching them with his dad. His dad got sick at one point, and he was really struck by seeing this guy who he thought of as a large and imposing figure cut down by disease. The great ending to this story is that Coogler's father recovered from his illness and got to see the Rocky movie his son made. Even if it was more coincidence than intentional, I also love the way Coogler and Stallone's relationship naturally had to mimic Adonis and Rocky's. Stallone believed Rocky Balboa had been the end of the series, and then this younger guy comes to him with this project and has to convince him to come out of retirement to play the mentor figure both in the movie and outside of it. On the more intentional side, I think it's brilliant that the movie finds a way to make Adonis's arc the inverse of Rocky's. Rocky thinks of himself as a nobody and just wants to feel like he's made a name for himself, that he's a somebody. Normally it might be challenging to frame Adonis as having the same problem, given the resources he has at his fingertips thanks to Maryanne, but by making him a child that Apollo had out of wedlock, they find a way to give Adonis a rough-and-tumble background and also create an obvious reason why he would feel he didn't *earn* those things, and thus, like Rocky, he feels undeserving and has to prove himself. Sage had already passed by the time the movie was made, and I think using that picture of Sage when talking about Robert -- and this might have even been confirmed -- added a layer to Stallone's performance in that scene, being sad that Robert is no longer nearby. Stallone has said that Robert Chartoff, the producer who is memorialized in the credits here, was the one of the Chartoff-Winkler team he trusted and loved. He has claimed in recent interviews that Winkler is determined to milk the Rocky IP for everything he can, which is to some degree supported by the fact that they're working on a Drago movie without Stallone's involvement.
Yeah the first 2 didnt have any realy anime influence, but Jordan did state that he input on the fight choreography a bit because they wanted to make sure he felt comfortable in the movements. So he possibly sprinkled in some anime influence in some of the exchanges.

The beauty of all of these movies. The boxing isnt the story. Theyre about the internal struggle of life. Stallone is something else. Rashaad is awesome too
Stallone sold the Franchise, he has basically has been cut out anything other than playing Rocky anymore by the owner. And as of late, he's been cut out of even that in Creed III. Stallone has posted some beef against those owners on his social and in media.
You could not have this "Phenomenal " as you put it movie if it were not for the first Rocky movie. While I understand your opinion because you can relate more with the time etc. The first Rocky movie was superior to this. Better Character development and story.
I like to think that Donnie was hyping Rocky at the end of the training montage: “May I introduce, with a record of 57 wins (54 by KO), 24 losses, and 1 draw: the two-time Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, the Fighting Pride of Philadelphia, the Italian Stallion, ROCKY BALBOA.”
"I have to prove it."
"Prove what?"
"I'm not a mistake."
That is one of my favorite dialog exchanges in the entire Rocky/Creed cinematic universe.

One hit and one point, you never wanna end up doing the runs,
The only thing you have to do is use your hands, heart and even guns,
The whole mind keeps it steady when ever you have something coming up,
I’m sure, that I can beat these titles
Making it more difficult than any rival
I’m sure, that I can beat these titles
Verse 2
Where does the word comes when ever you hit or miss the mark,
I see the whole runnings man it’s a whole different when in the park,
I see the elephant in the room. Man it’s gonna be all torn right apart,
See the only thing that hits with a lot more isn’t whenever you have art,
27:25 Actual knockout!
Ricky Conlon who he fights is real boxer Tong Bellew, the guy he was suppose to fight but broke his jaw, who Adonis got knocked out by in the gym is Andre Ward and the guy who’s the son of dude at nicks, Adonis first real fight under Rocky, is Leo Santa Cruz. All great boxers
Um, it's Gabriel Rosado, not whoever Leo Santa Cruz is...
Lmao first time hearing Normies say jawn 😂😂😂 god i love my city
The Black Panther director wrote and directed this movie and that is why it is the best Creed movie and up there with Rocky 1 and Rocky 2 in the entire franchise
The beauty of all of these movies. The boxing isnt the story. Theyre about the internal struggle of life. Stallone is something else.
Rashaad is awesome too
JAWN is a Philly thing you wouldn't understand.
Wait for Creed II for the emotion to really really hit...
Cant wait for ya'll to react to Creed 2 !
I came for Creed from the office. He is in the parking lot by now.
Stallone sold the Franchise, he has basically has been cut out anything other than playing Rocky anymore by the owner. And as of late, he's been cut out of even that in Creed III. Stallone has posted some beef against those owners on his social and in media.
It's not a great thing but it's a fact of life. There are a lot of children born
From affairs especially athletes.
So it happens.
"Let's get to the stairs!" lol 🔥
Tony bellow is a actual world boxing champion STRAIGHT FROM LIVERPOOL LAD
“This is anime” wait til you get to the third one 😂🔥
The original actress who played Maryann passed away.
This is exactly the reason why we NEED Stallone back if Creed 4 ever happens....
I’m surprised they didn’t recognize Andre Ward 🥊
Not sure if anyone’s said this, but “jawn” is a derivative of “joint”, which is a pretty much slang for for the exact same thing… a noun lol.
I hope conlan got safe back to his wife&kids
If you know you know
It's still a DAMN shame, Stallone didn't get an academy award for this....
Danny wheeler is future hall of fame boxer Andre Ward. Bay Area legend 🔥🔥
creed 2 is one of my fav boxing movies so excited for you guys to watch it!!!
The #1 boxer from Philly is Bernard Hopkins
Rana's tears is my favorite part of the reaction lol Happy late birthday babe.
I love y’all reactions
Creed series is phenomenal
Oaklands own Ryan Coogler directed this shit!!! He made the bay proud
weeks later but HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANA!!!!!!!! 🙌🙌🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I can’t wait til CREED 6 where he goes back in time to fight Rocky when they’re both at their prime 😂
happy belated birthday RANA hope you had a wonderful day yesterday.
Happy belated birthday Rana 👑🎂Wishing you nothing but happiness 😊
Happiest of belated birthdays to you, Rana. You’re my favorite.
Happy "belated" Birthday Rana have an awesome day and here is to many more years❤🎉
CREED MOVIES ARE FINE, BUT STALLONE DESERVES THE RIGHTS TO HIS CHARACTERS BACK
I really like what Rana is wearing.
Rocky Balboa Is Friend To Apollo Creed In Rocky Movies
You could not have this "Phenomenal " as you put it movie if it were not for the first Rocky movie. While I understand your opinion because you can relate more with the time etc. The first Rocky movie was superior to this. Better Character development and story.
Hey guys... wondering if you all have considered reacting to the Alien franchise? 8 movies with a new one on the way.
Creed 1 was good! Very underrated film..
I like to think that Donnie was hyping Rocky at the end of the training montage:
“May I introduce, with a record of 57 wins (54 by KO), 24 losses, and 1 draw: the two-time Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World, the Fighting Pride of Philadelphia, the Italian Stallion, ROCKY BALBOA.”
