Fun fact: The Central African Republic isn't technically the center of Africa, because the central point of that continent isn't located in that country.
which country is it in?
@@hinoxkiller382 republic or democratic republic?
Republic
Good thing it isn’t called “The Exact Geographic Center of Africa Republic” then
@@andycockrum1212 that would be a rather extensive name…
Bangui is pronounced Bong-gee! And I agree that the Central African Republic flag stands out because of all the colors and its unique design. The flag of the Central African Republic was designed by Barthélemy Boganda, who was the country's first president in 1958 when it was an autonomous part of the French Community (the country would get their independence in 1960). Boganda’s flag design symbolically expressed his realization that France and Africa must march together.
He combined the French tricolor with the pan-African tricolor, with the red stripe vertical to represent the common blood of mankind, and the blood they must shed to protect Africa like they did to protect France. The yellow star represents independence and African unity and progress. It was intended to be the flag of the United States of Latin Africa, a union of Romance language-speaking countries from Chad to Angola which he proposed in 1957. He proposed it as a counter to the British-influenced southern bloc of South Africa and Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. However, the ambitious plan was cut short due to a plane crash in 1959 which ended his life.
Why do I always see you everywhere on this platform?
He died in a plane crash? Hmm nothing suspicious about that at all.
@@lemunt4906 she needs constant attention bot. just 👎🏼👎🏼her comments so it doesn't appear on top. 💯💯
I thought it is pronounced as baahn-gu-wieh
Geography now does a similar job, but yours is a little different and concentrating on lesser known countries is good. I'd love to see one on Nauru
Yet unlike this channel, Geography Now actually does a good job of doing detailed research and omitting errors.
@@anping1966 "good job..." and GN doesn't fit together 🤣 Maybe when he's starting out but later GN becomes personality centered, egoistic, force cringey humor, impressing 'friends' with bad chemistry on the show and viewers. In short its unwatchable and annoying.
@@anping1966 geography now is a whole team of people tho lol
This was actually one of the first African countries I knew because I liked the flag and the name was easy to remember.
The federation of French Equatorial Africa was actually established in 1910! What's now the CAR was only a colony within that federation and not the entire thing. The Upper Ubangi was established as part of the French Congo in 1891. The area was contested from 1892 to 1895 with the Congo Free State. The Upper Ubangi was a separate colony from July 1894 until December 1899, during which it was folded back into the French Congo. The Upper Shari region was established as part of the French Congo in September 1900. That same year the Company of the Upper Ubangi Sultanates took over 140,000 squared km of Upper Ubangi as a concession. The territories were united as the separate colony of Ubangi-Shari in December 1903.
Ubangi-Shari would change its name to the Central African Republic in 1958 when it was granted autonomy. Jean-Bédel Bokassa didn't become emperor in 1960 when the country declared independence, as he first rose to power thanks to the Saint-Sylvestre coup d'état at the end of 1965 which overthrew David Dacko and instituted a military junta, and then he declared the Central African Empire in 1976. He'd rule as Emperor of Central Africa until 1979 when France partnered with David Dacko to restore the republic and reinstate Dacko.
Sometimes I really think RUclips hears us. Just yesterday I thought of this country and thought how would it be. Plz continue this playlist of unknown countries ✴️❤💥
Incredible video. Please make more of these. Extremely helpful. 😃
I would love for you to continue this series. Can you do East Timor next?
What are the most developed/safest areas? Beautiful country. Love this informative video!
its not safe at all
Yep I will not advise visiting for the moment. But it's very beautiful, the forests are a good place to breathe pure unpolluted and revigorant air. The Savana is well a savannah, savannah is always cool. The "only" danger is the civil war going on.
But when the war will be over, please come visit you will not regret.
This is why they say that you don't have to be rich to be beautiful 😍❤️
The driver of the ricksaw that we rode in NYC is from CAF. He's a kind dude.
Is the elephant footage at 0:36 photoshopped/edited? Absolutely beautiful.
I swear I only heard about Eritrea for the first time like 2 years ago and I’m big into geography. Crazy.
It borders south sudan as well as regular sudan, ur map was outdated
0:56 south sudan: am I a joke to you?
Almost every video on an African country always boils down to the poverty of the country...talk about its precolonial history or the cultures & foods of the people, like damn.
asf
Stop being so poor then
Because it is
@@-Dazai- ???
I flew over the Central African Republic today and decided to watch this video to learn more about it haha
A fascinating video. More of them please.
You forgot to mention there is a civil war going on 💀
Like rn dawg? 💀
@@danielsurvivor1372 what?
Yes
@@danielsurvivor1372Yup. There's a civil war in the country that has been ongoing since 2012
0:58 south Sudan got independence in 2011
This video is an unserious and poorly-made attempt at clickbaiting views. The majority of statistics and a large number of claims altogether are either wildly incorrect or completely baseless. From forgetting about the existence of an entire country to assuming that the country can't develop due to a "small population," I have compiled a list of obvious errors in the video here:
1. Map on 0:50 is outdated and does not include South Sudan. Narration omits South Sudan as well. See google maps.
2. Bangui pronounciation at 1:03 is incorrect. See Cambridge Dictionary.
3. Pronounciation of Sango language at 1:20 is incorrect. See Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
4. At 2:10, video claims French Equatorial Africa was founded in 1889 when it was not created until 1910.
5. At 2:35 while describing independence in 1960 the image portrayed is of Jean-Bédel Bokassa who did not become head of state until 1966.
6. Site of graphic at 3:00 is not a trustworthy source. Scroll to the bottom of the website where they themselves claim their data is not accurate. For comparison, video estimate of 74 Euros per month is 2.33 times higher than the World Bank estimate of GDP per capita in 2022.
7. Fertility rate described at 3:20 of 4.4 births per woman is wildly incorrect, correct estimate should be around 5.98. See World Bank data.
8. Claim at 4:23 that the Congo Basin is the world's largest carbon sink is not correct. That would be the oceans. See United Nations on climate change.
9. Pronounciation of Mont Ngaoui at 5:14 is incorrect. See howtopronounce.
10. Claim at 5:33 that GDP of country is 2.8 billion USD is incorrect, as of 2022 it is closer to 2.38 billion USD. See World Bank data.
11. Claim at 6:00 that less than 1% of citizens have bank accounts is incorrect, correct figure is 13.75%. See World Bank data.
12. Claim at 6:26 of unlucky geography is rather baseless. Endowed with numerous natural resources such as diamonds and gold, the Central African Republic has the potential to develop a strong mining-based economy. Video itself makes this claim later at 6:45. See United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
13. Similarly, claim at 6:29 that factors preventing economic growth are geography, political instability, and small population is rather untrue and baseless. Political instability has and will continue to be a large factor yet this video fails to explain why in any sort of detail. For a better understanding of factors limiting growth in the country, see articles on CFA Franc neocolonialism, Wagner Group. Spoiler alert: a small population has nothing to do with it.
14. Claim at 6:45 that CAR has an abundance of oil is untrue, the country has no known commercially exploitable petroleum or gas resources. See Mbendi website or United Nations.
15. Jungle background photo used throughout the video (such as at 1:24) is a stock photo of a forest in Tanzania. See Aerial view of mangrove forest and river in tanzania mangrove jungles.
16. In fact, numerous background photos throughout the video are just random stock photos vaguely showing nature and Africa, suggesting lazy video editing.
17. Entire video cites zero sources for the litany of images used and claims made, thus it is no surprise that numerous other statistics are incorrect (national population, life expectancy, cell subscriptions, etc.).
Ultimately, this makes for a lousy video that fundamentally misinforms online audiences. One star out of five.
Cry 🤣🤭
🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️ Thanks. I have learned something from you.
Well, now, that was helpful.
Great
You definitely need to more of these
Love this. More please
Fun fact : with 622.000 sqkm, the CAR is only slightly smaller than France and....Texas
A country in conflict surrounded by countries in conflict. Not a good spot to be in.
But I am living here.
very nice thank you - i was i Gabon for a short while and saw the overall poor infastructure and lack of health care

Nice
Really really unknown
CAR also borders South Sudan…
You call 24c hot? Yet your summers routinely break 45c??
Can you move thete with millions
00:09 i know only one intersting fact about car , that its famous for its clear sky
why didn't you mention CAR's political "instability" ? In your video it's sounds like their poor just because it's like that. This country never had a unified territory since 2004 and the state nearly exists at all in this country always shaken by the french, un and russian (wagner did horrible massacres recently) interventions.
You barely mentioned the ongoing civil war. Wtf is the point of these videos if you don't cover the most basic thing about these peoples' daily lives.
As west African I barely know central African countries. I always thought Cameroon 🇨🇲 Gabon 🇬🇦 chad 🇹🇩 are west Africa countries not to talk of central African Republic 😂which recently heard about it
I am curious. Does it have a lot of tourism? I cannot imagine why anybody would go there apart from for the sake of saying you have been.
The starting map itself is old. The majority of the estern border is with South Sudan, not Sudan 😂
How to roast a country
Unknown country
I liked what I saw but I expected to hear more about David Dacko and the Emperor Bokassa and developments after the overthrow of Dacko by Kolingba.
They might have a chance of development if they could gain freedom from their colonial currency
Your map is outdated, it borders South Sudan too since its creation in 2011
The introduction song was in swahili

Nah he’s not from boro
I'm glad there are videos about it, because I would never go there. That place scares me.
But this poor country once had an empire 😂…
Kondogbia?
My first thought as well
Never heard anyone in English referring to a person from this country. Are they "Central African Republicans"?
The fact that I know the C.A.R. is that the tallest people in the world are found here and not in the Netherlands
Cap there is a tribe in South Sudan with the highest people, but if you take all the people in South Sudan in account, they are shorter then the Netherlands
@@menice6736Nope, it's the ethnic group, nilobsaharan, taller than the rest
Except they aren't
Don't you Africans get tired of being unable to accept the facts because they hurt your feelings
😂😂
Countries by tallest are ranked by average height
And the Netherlands is unequivocally irrefutably and undeniably the tallest country in the world
And c a r doesn't even come close
It's ranked 141
😂😂
The average height of the Netherlands is 184cm
C a r is 169cm
😂😂
@@alfredmacharia3450 "nilobsaharan" is not an ethnic group, you are thinking of the Nilo-Saharan languages, a language family.
@etrestre9403 The Dinka people of South have been reported to be the tallest ethnic group in Africa, though they are still shorter than the Dutch. Average height for Dinka men is around 182 cm according to Roberts and Bainbridge in the 1950s. This number has however shrunk since then, while the average Dutch male height is around 183 cm.
There are three Middle Kingdoms (三個中國) in the World:

Why not call ot CENTRAL AFRICA?

Not a lot though...
Central African Republic is a C.A.R with no wheels
Most poorest country in Africa 😮😢

It must be one of the most insignificant places on the globe. Like nothing but nothing going for it.
How could you say y ou are describing the CAR without discussing Bokassa? And learn how to proonounce Bangui - it NOT ban goooo ee
You didn't even state the correct way to pronounce it
