Dear Andy, I want to thank you for all your work, your videos, your wonderful pictures, for every little thing you gave me throughout this year. THANK YOU!!! You are a wonderful person and your videos are great. I know how much work and passion is behind them. I want to tell you that I honor all this. I wish you a wonderful time arround Christmas with your family. Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos 💝
@@AndyMumford The 'gear' videos are always cool, but sometimes it's nice just to see the locations and the act of photography, the effort it sometimes takes to get into position etc.
Ciao Andy, thanks for sharing this experience, it's always great to listen your considerations while watching the beautiful images! The last location is really stunning! Ciao!
I love the bit from 1:30-2:00 where you touch on the time commitment, weather, etc. Have you ever thought of doing a video on the day-of details that lead you into a shoot? It would be a nice “bridge” between this Lofoten video and that excellent “what’s in the backpack” video.
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video. That's an interesting idea for a video. I'm heading back out travelling starting next month and want to do more "in the field" videos, so might think about something like that
Absolutely stunning Andy! I really enjoyed your take on the different angles, and that sometimes it isn't about getting that "perfect" light. I am more of a moody, cloud detail shooter, so that last one was awesome. But the 1st one was pretty outstanding too :-)
Thanks so much for the comment. Yes, Lofoten is absolutely beautiful. I go every year in the winter, but this was my first summer trip and I really loved seeing a different aspect of it

Absolutely breathtaking upload my friend. Shots are insanely beautiful as well as composition! Brilliantly filmed and it’s simply enjoyable!📸 You explained everything so nicely!
Ok, I'm only one minute into the video and you've just said something about the best light arriving later in the day. And I'm thinking, holy cow, that view is good enough for me right now! :-)
Haha, thanks. The light was decent at that time, but it wasn't really warm. When we did get that really warm light though, there was too much shadow and not a lot happening in the sky
Nice job once again - The Xt4 looks like a great smaller camera with a cropped sensor. my usual rig is a D850 with my old D750 if I'm going to be on the street in NYC or other areas where my D850 would be too much. Andy, as always a good review with beautiful pictures.📸 I didn't know the NISI 9mm and found it interesting. As I already mentioned, I use Fuji 10-24mm WR, Viltrox 13mm. Polar Pro are excellent filters, but I switched to KASE because I really like magnetic filters. They're much easier to use, particularly when it's cold and you're using gloves, and when screw in filters can lock so tight that it's hard to remove them
I see you enjoy with viltrox 13mm 1.4...looks really detailed pictures with this lens. And what you think about NiSi 9mm is also good? Which is better for you? I still use Fuji 10-24 but this Viltrox always attract me...

In summer I was thinking about booking the last free place for this trip with you to Lofoten..I didn't.. bad decision when I see the landscapes here. One question about the 10-24, do you use the new one with WR or the first version without WR, and is there a difference in image quality? Is the Viltrox 13mm even sharper than the Fuji zoom, and whats about the Fuji 8-16 compared to those? Do yo think the 10-24 would fit to the new XT-5 with 40MP, or better to use the recommended 8-16? Best regards Klaus
It's a pity you couldn't make it, the trip was really nice. I use the WR version of the 10-24, but optically the two versions are exactly the same. The Viltrox is sharper, but lacks the flexibility of the 10-24mm. I haven't compared it to the 8-16mm so I can't say. As for with the X-T5, I'm happy with the 10-24mm. Whether you should get the 8-16mm really depends on how important absolute detail is, and if carrying the 8-16mm, which is big, heavy, hard to use with filters and lacks the focal length flexibility of the 10-24mm is worth it. Images with the 10-24mm look great on the X-T5. Would the 8-16mm be better...absolutely, but how much better and how important that is really depends from person to person
Thank you so much for these! Maybe someday I will be able to come on a trip! I just got the new x-t5 to partner with my t3. Since I have a 16-55mm 2.8, what would be your pick to go wider between the NiSi 9mm 2.8 or the Viltrox 9mm 1.4?

The shadows weren't a technical issue, I bracketed the shot (I no longer use grads as bracketing and blending is far better for capturing wider dynamic range) and so I had enough information in the brighter exposures to bring the shadows out. The problem is that it looks very unnatural to have areas of an image that are backlit and should be shadow brightened. Images with strong lighting should have shadows, to not have them looks wrong and removes depth from an image, as the tonal values are evened out. The issue here was compositionally, the shadow area was taking up a large part of the frame with empty space. To remove this from the image would have meant removing the sun star, or cropped off more at the bottom, which would have altered the balance by removing elements of the village in the islands. Brightening it would have just looked wrong as it has the sun directly behind it.
More thought could be put into the figure in the photo.Feels like an afterthought or not fully thought through. ruclips.net/video/Px_HO_2815I/видео.html

Why not use the 10-24 vs the 13mm viltrox? Just wanted to know, is the viltrox sharper than the 10-24 at f 5.6-8?
I already made a view comparing the 13mm with the 10-24mm ruclips.net/video/GX-EOI26oPQ/видео.html
Hi Andy. I have a Fujifilm XF 10-24 mm (v1). I tend to only use it at between 10 &. 12/14. Is the Viltrox suitable as a replacement for this lens?
If you only use it between 10 & 12 then yes, for sure the Viltrox is sharper, as well as having the faster aperture, but there's a big difference between 10mm and 13mm when it comes to framing, so you might miss the ultra wide feel you get with at 10mm
What UL F-Stop pack is that you're using and what's your opinion on it? Currently trying to decide between the UL Packs F-Stop has available.
It's the Kashmir. It's light, but if you have a long torso like me, it doesn't fit great. I use the Ajna most of the time.

Not really. Including the figure in both images was fully thought out and included for the reasons I explained in the video.
