      Not really sure, but if you find it easier to compose with the EVF than use that. I prefer to use it as well

    How do you control your 100s? Self-timer? App? Second shooter..?

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  Год назад +1

      For images like this when it's too far away to do with a 10 second timer, I use the camera intervalometer. I set the camera up like you would a timelapse, just with different settings. So I'll set it to take a photo every 5 seconds starting in 10 seconds time. Then set it to take perhaps 10 images, so I know that after 10 seconds it's going to take an image every 5 seconds. This gives me plenty of time to get into the spot where I need to be, and then I know as long as I stand there for at least 5 seconds there'll be at least one frame with me in it.

    The drone footage is just stunning Andy! I'm now planning a trip to Iceland in late August as your 2023 workshops are full. What would you suggest taking for Fuji lenses paired to the X-T5?

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  Год назад +1

      Hi John, thanks for the comment. It really depends which part of Iceland you'll be visiting. On the coast, along the south, the south east, the the Snaefelsness peninsula, then you'll need a wide angle like the 10-24mm, but in the Highlands you'll almost never use it. I'd say a telephoto is always essential, and I often want a lot of reach, so something like the 55-200 or 70-300 would be really useful. And I'd finish it off with a mid range, like the 16-55 or 16-80 just to be covered.
      By the way, I've had a cancellation for the Highlands 2023 workshop, so there is now a space opened on that. Let me know if you're interested

    I've probably watched your video 10 times already. Great job, Andy! My favorite photos are at 4:22 (River braid) and at 8:12. These are surreal beauties! Thank you - that is very motivating!
    I also have an Air 2S and am struggling with panoramic photos at the moment 🥴. So a question about your pano at 11:05: Are you actually rotate the drone (with the left stick) ??? I assume you can also do this with the right stick (sideways flight), but it's more complicated for me)

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the comment, really glad you enjoyed the video. As for the drone, I always have the sticks at default configuration (although I change the gimbal tilt speed an decrease the speed in Cine mode). For panos I rotate the drone rather than yaw sideways as it’s much faster to position the composition this way

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  Год назад +1

      I can kind of understand that, there are a lot of places in Iceland along the south coast, the Golden Triangle and Snaefelsness that have been shot a million times before. It's one of the reasons I love the Highlands so much, you always feel like you're discovering new places and we went for days without seeing anyone else when we were out. With the exception of Haifoss, every location in the video was somewhere I'd never seen before, and hadn't seen photographed.

      Hi Rick, glad you enjoyed the video. The river braids...I deliberately changed the gps coordinates. That spot isn't well known and the guide I work with makes a living from taking people there. Sharing a location like that affects his livelihood of guiding people to places that are not well known. It's also somewhere we take people on our workshops, and sharing a location like that makes it easy for another workshop to take people to the same place.
      The other coordinates are all accurate though. They are well known locations.

      The X-T3 is a better camera because of the weather sealing, twin slots and tougher build, but it really depends. If you shoot a lot of video, you might prefer the grip and flip around screen of the XS10. Likewise, if you shoot handled a lot and want stabilisation then go for the XS10

    Nice video. Nice pictures. Just wanted to say that this thing of yours to wherever possible put some dude in the frame to show the size of the landscape is kinda weird meanwhile and gets old. To my eyes it‘s annoying and doesn‘t add to the art. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the good work!

    • @AndyMumford
      @AndyMumford  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed the video. As for adding a figure to the composition, well, it's not weird at all and has been part of landscape art for as long as landscape have been being painted. See Casper David Friedrich's early 19th century masterpiece "Wanderer above the Sea of Fog" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanderer_above_the_Sea_of_Fog
      Nor is it something I do "wherever possible". It's a feature of around 1% of my portfolio work, and something I only do when I feel it brings something to the image. A figure is like any other compositional element to be included when it enhances the image, whether by giving balance to a focal point, creating depth, creating a mood (as is the case with Freidrich's painting) or bringing scale. Each of the images in this video with a figure are weaker without it. I should know, as I have all of them with and without a figure.
