NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
    Well, this exciting news!
The next-generation beast of the Starship family, the V2, has made its official debut at Starbase, poised to revolutionize the aerospace industry in the near future.
In addition to this milestone, significant progress is underway on Flight 5 and the construction of the launch tower.
Meanwhile, the next launch date for Falcon Heavy is facing delays due to payload issues.
With so much important news today, let's dive right in!
The arrival of Starship V2 has been eagerly anticipated for some time now. It all began with Elon Musk's tweet last year after Flight 2, where he mentioned "Four more Starships, the last of V1." Subsequently, V2 was further discussed during the April presentation.
Amidst these developments, Starship has made significant strides following its first four flights, setting the stage perfectly for the introduction of V2.
NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
While attention was focused on preparing for Flight 5 and constructing the new launch tower, SpaceX surprised everyone by unveiling the initial components of V2.
On the morning of July 14th, a prototype part emerged from Starfactory, immediately recognizable as the nosecone by its silhouette visible through the factory's glass door. Shortly after, it officially emerged, revealing numerous new features in both design and auxiliary parts, indicating this is indeed a new prototype.
Following its unveiling, the nosecone was moved into the High Bay. I'm eagerly anticipating the stacking process to commence soon. Elon Musk's announcement a few months ago about six Starship V2 prototypes gives me confidence that production of the first prototype should begin now to meet this target, especially since we're already in mid-July.
Now, let's address the topic that's likely on everyone's mind: How will Starship V2 differ from its predecessor?
Elon Musk has commented, "This is an important design improvement," indicating that there will be significant changes and advancements in the new iteration.
NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
Firstly, a notable change in Starship V2 involves the heat shield. Unlike its predecessor, where the heat shield was primarily concentrated at the top, the new version will distribute it more extensively on the leeward side. Moreover, there's been an expansion in heat shield coverage beneath the forward flaps, enhancing protection during the rigorous re-entry phase.
In addition to these coverage improvements, each heat shield tile appears to have been enhanced. Following Flight 4, SpaceX began using new heat shield tiles with added ablative layers, a technology likely carried over to V2. Elon Musk mentioned in an interview with Everyday Astronaut a few weeks ago that the heat shield will feature thicker tiles with narrower gaps and improved gap fillers, possibly tightening tolerances for greater reliability.

Yeah, this has bothered me for a long time. The V2 was developed by S.S. Major Werner VonBraun, at Peenemünde in Germany -0where slave labor was used to produce the "V2" ("vengeance rocket 2"), which bombed the hell of Great Britain in WWII.
I wish Musk could have chosen any other designation for this rocket, but the good news (I guess) is that most people have so little knowledge of history that they won't even know. Kind of sad, really...

I'm wondering if SpaceX has ever thought of using the Star Ship as part of a new space station this would be doc on the international space station and then before 2030 they would start dismantling the space station and as time pass they would start building the new space station adding parts to connect with the star ship. It would be a little tricky but I think SpaceX could do it for less than most companies and have all kinds of things they didn't have before.

No, China's failure to COPY SpaceX's rocket has NOTHING TO DO with SpaceX's Super heavy.
Unlike SpaceX, China tried to START where Starship is NOW, whereas SpaceX has first designed the world's most dependable rocket engines and rockets: Falcon, and Falcon Heavy, and then slowly built on that technology toward Starship's design - piece by piece, stage by stage. The same applies to the launch platform itself.
You can't always copy your way to the kind of the ultra-complex, and ultra-simplified design, leading to Starship. I'm sure Chinese engineers thought (and said to each other), "If THEY can do it, we can certainly COPY it - how hard can it be?"
    I guess they found out.
As to Sierra Space and ULA, I don't know why ANYONE would choose ULA over SpaceX - in terms of cost AND reliability, there is no company that can even come CLOSE to SpaceX - and ULA's rockets aren't even re-usable. They spend billions designing the rocket, launch it, and then throw it all away - and start over again.
It's a last-century way of rocketry, and will fall by the wayside, because it is a complete waste of resources. Only SpaceX (and its reusable rockets), in the long run, will persist and become even more powerful, reliable and re-usable. Any company that can't match that capability should, by economic models alone, fail.
As for "Blue Organ," I laugh every time I think about it, and Bezos' envy and ambition. Whereas SpaceX doesn't even patent their designs, Blue Organ doesn't even tell anyone about Bezos' "My Precious," and has STILL failed, after all these years, to launch a SINGLE spaceship into Earth Orbit - and now they have, like the Chinese, started to COPY SpaceX designs. It looks to me as though Blue Organ exists only as a tax write-off for Bezos, and a vanity project, so Bezos can pretend he is a Rocket King, liked the big boys.
Calling Blue Organ (yes, it's a purposeful misspelling), a "competitor" of SpaceX is like comparing a skateboard to a Porsche, and calling the companies who make them "competitors."

SpaceX has very little freedom to make changes to either Falcon 9 Block 5 or the Crew Dragon because *any* changes must be reviewed and approved by both the FAA and NASA. And with Starship less than two years from operational status SpaceX will make no changes to either Falcon 9 or Dragon 2 except those that are *demanded* by the civil servants.

The answer to your question is "no," SpaceX's Falcon and Falcon Heavy are far from being "prototypes."
      - They are matured, proven, commercial spacecraft, whose designs will continue to receive upgrades for a very long time.
They are now the "workhorses" of the space industry - the most reliable, powerful, and inexpensive-to-launch spacecraft of their class ever built.
They are also designed and built with reusability in mind, which is why they will get less and less expensive to use over time, as the boosters, engines, and all other parts are reused, again and again.
They will continue to be used and improved even after Starship is also a proven commercial spacecraft, because in space, "one size does not fit all."
There will always be a need for spacecraft like them.
This was a misstatement, which I also didn't understand. Rather disappointing, really.

Nobody is taking babbling about "rescue mission" seriously. BTW, remember that Falcon9 is currently grounded.

Was the explosion of Crew Dragon on the test stand also a sabotage? Of the Falcon9 upper stage on the launch stand during fueling? In each of those cases, the root cause has been found pretty quickly, and eliminated. This is something SpaceX is very good at.
Every system has finite mean time between failures, and so far it has been incredibly high for the Falcon family, but it can never be infinite. In other words, shit, it *does* happen.
As you have probably heard, FAA has already cleared Falcon9 to continue flying, in less time than it would take them to determine when to start the investigation in the case of any other company. SpaceX now enjoys preferential treatment of various feds better than Boeing had in the best of days (which the latter squandered.)

Not possible, look how hard it is to get a probe to mercury - one currently in transit has been on the go for years and it still isnt there. A great deal of energy would have to be expended to get such a mass into the sun.

If I understand what you are asking, then SpaceX's Crew Dragon is capable of fully autonomous operation, making it - yes, a fully automatic rescue operation, with no training on its flight systems needed - it can deliver only cargo to the ISS, dock itself, detach itself, and perform its own reentry - or, with a trained crew, it can be flown by a pilot, making it more versatile.
They could be back in a week, or a week and a half, safe and sound, if NASA would stop coddling Boeing like a baby, and if Boeing could surrender its corporate ego for the safety of two of our most experienced astronauts.

This video thumbnail claims that “NASA Just Ordered Dragon to Save Starliner Astronauts “. That would be news if it were true (but it’s NOT) and nowhere in this video does it even say that. So, the thumbnail is an intentional lie designed to waste your (and my) time watching an hours worth of generic Falcon information that is nothing more than clickbait. I’m un-subbing this channel if I see another clickbait thumbnail in the future. That’s low and shameful behavior.
