NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
Well, this exciting news!
The next-generation beast of the Starship family, the V2, has made its official debut at Starbase, poised to revolutionize the aerospace industry in the near future.
In addition to this milestone, significant progress is underway on Flight 5 and the construction of the launch tower.
Meanwhile, the next launch date for Falcon Heavy is facing delays due to payload issues.
With so much important news today, let's dive right in!
The arrival of Starship V2 has been eagerly anticipated for some time now. It all began with Elon Musk's tweet last year after Flight 2, where he mentioned "Four more Starships, the last of V1." Subsequently, V2 was further discussed during the April presentation.
Amidst these developments, Starship has made significant strides following its first four flights, setting the stage perfectly for the introduction of V2.
NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
While attention was focused on preparing for Flight 5 and constructing the new launch tower, SpaceX surprised everyone by unveiling the initial components of V2.
On the morning of July 14th, a prototype part emerged from Starfactory, immediately recognizable as the nosecone by its silhouette visible through the factory's glass door. Shortly after, it officially emerged, revealing numerous new features in both design and auxiliary parts, indicating this is indeed a new prototype.
Following its unveiling, the nosecone was moved into the High Bay. I'm eagerly anticipating the stacking process to commence soon. Elon Musk's announcement a few months ago about six Starship V2 prototypes gives me confidence that production of the first prototype should begin now to meet this target, especially since we're already in mid-July.
Now, let's address the topic that's likely on everyone's mind: How will Starship V2 differ from its predecessor?
Elon Musk has commented, "This is an important design improvement," indicating that there will be significant changes and advancements in the new iteration.
NASA Just Ordered Dragon To Save Starliner Astronauts! Starship V2 Stacked, Flight 5...Weekly #17
Firstly, a notable change in Starship V2 involves the heat shield. Unlike its predecessor, where the heat shield was primarily concentrated at the top, the new version will distribute it more extensively on the leeward side. Moreover, there's been an expansion in heat shield coverage beneath the forward flaps, enhancing protection during the rigorous re-entry phase.
In addition to these coverage improvements, each heat shield tile appears to have been enhanced. Following Flight 4, SpaceX began using new heat shield tiles with added ablative layers, a technology likely carried over to V2. Elon Musk mentioned in an interview with Everyday Astronaut a few weeks ago that the heat shield will feature thicker tiles with narrower gaps and improved gap fillers, possibly tightening tolerances for greater reliability.

To be resolved, thank you.
Click baiting aside, they should launch dragon to bring the astronauts home and then fly the starliner home without people onboard. That will tell us if the dragon saved lives or not.
Click bate. Shame, shame, shame on you . 😢😢😮
All of a sudden, these RUclips channels are deciding to use embellished titles for their videos.....NASA gave SpaceX a small contract for a paper study on the feasibility of using Dragon as a lifeboat or rescue ship.....Nobody gave an order to save Starliner......this is nothing more than clickbait.
Shame on you for the bogus, click-bait title. I expected a lot better from this channel.
Crew Dragon is not a prototype. It is a flight proven spacecraft!
Disappointed with Click Bait title. A study on future rescue missions is not an order to do so. Given your content, you do not need to resort to these cheap tactics for viewership.
If the Apollo 13 team took this long to ‘evaluate the data’, well-----🤔
Absolutely Yes I lived in California many years ago and Returned for Business a few years ago. Boy I could not Believe how bad the State has become I do not recommend anyone to move there especially if you have Children
V2... V2... V2... vaguely rings a bell in the history of rocketry...
Yeah, this has bothered me for a long time. The V2 was developed by S.S. Major Werner VonBraun, at Peenemünde in Germany -0where slave labor was used to produce the "V2" ("vengeance rocket 2"), which bombed the hell of Great Britain in WWII.
I wish Musk could have chosen any other designation for this rocket, but the good news (I guess) is that most people have so little knowledge of history that they won't even know. Kind of sad, really...
Lol true so true a major failure of the education in the country right...@art.is.life.eternal
That’s enough clickbait for me….seeeeeya.
Click bait.
I believe dragon will be used to safely return the starliner crew and starliner to return empty under remote control. This is the only safe way to resolve starliners' safety concerns.
Seriously!? Can you not publish a video without click bait!?
Need to comprehend what English words mean. Crew Dragon spacecraft are NOT PROTOTYPES ... they are VERY OPERATIONAL. Starliner is still in prototype testing, and as we've seen, changes need to be made. Such is not the case with Crew Dragon.
Right, who plastered the fake headline and how was it permitted to be published and under what law is this legal? I don't wanna hear clickbait unless it's legal terminology that has been assessed and made clearly understood as where it stands in the community. RUclips needs to grow some balls and stamp out misleading, falsehoods and outright lies.
SpaceX should make the returning astronauts recite "SpaceX rulez, Boeing drools!" and "All glory to Elon!" before they're allowed to ride the Dragon home.
Clickbait title.
You gotta stop with the click bait total BS titles! Dragon Has NOT been ordered go save Starliner! JUST STOP!
I'm wondering if SpaceX has ever thought of using the Star Ship as part of a new space station this would be doc on the international space station and then before 2030 they would start dismantling the space station and as time pass they would start building the new space station adding parts to connect with the star ship. It would be a little tricky but I think SpaceX could do it for less than most companies and have all kinds of things they didn't have before.
CLICK BAIT! CLICK BAIT! With a flat out lie, the worst kind! Tired of it. You just lost another subscriber
Please call it Block 2, WWII German rockets launched at Britain were called V2
Reason is with me now. ❤I will not lose my reason anymore. It's great to be able to say that I want everything to work well.
Final click bait. Too many strikes. Unsubbed.
Yes; CA is a failure of years of policies and politicians. Keep up the great content.
Thank you engineers now you're making sense on where you're placing your tiles and also changing one of the things that I noticed that nobody mentioned. I can see you move your stress rib inside the capsule smart move😊
Im gonna believe the negative comments and not view the remaining 50 min of this video.
A lot of Clickbait complaints here recently
Shocked ? Humiliated.?
Iam really glade that Mr Musk is moving his Headquarters to Texas he should have doe this a long time ago
China's Falcon 9 clone: Ive had to remind people of this: Just because they share an outer appearance doesn't mean they have the same magic on the inside
clickbait
The longer they wait for the return of the space liner, the less ability for the spaceliner to have a safe return to earth. I am not sure yet that the spaceliner has what is needed for a safe return.
If I were Sierra Space, I would seriously consider working out some sort of deal to hook up with SpaceX. If I were Elon, Gwen
and Spacex, I would propose such a deal...pronto. Imagine the possibilities. 😃
Going to be a lose lose for recovery of starliner, if a major problem occurs. If they have spaceX bring their test pilots home… Boeing and NASA lose
V-2 IS AN AWESOME NAME ! THE ORIGINALITY AND UNIQUENESS OF IT IS ASTOUNDING !
Hope that it will work well
😂
My complete solution to the Boeing burden would be for SpaceX to rescue the Boeing crew and for Boeing to abandon the craft permanently as an addendum to the ISS who could use it as a dedicated store room and toilet.
The title is a lie. Starliner will come home under its own power. I believe NASA and Boeing updates and not this Musk propaganda!
Reported this channel to youTube for misinformation.
No, China's failure to COPY SpaceX's rocket has NOTHING TO DO with SpaceX's Super heavy.
Unlike SpaceX, China tried to START where Starship is NOW, whereas SpaceX has first designed the world's most dependable rocket engines and rockets: Falcon, and Falcon Heavy, and then slowly built on that technology toward Starship's design - piece by piece, stage by stage. The same applies to the launch platform itself.
You can't always copy your way to the kind of the ultra-complex, and ultra-simplified design, leading to Starship. I'm sure Chinese engineers thought (and said to each other), "If THEY can do it, we can certainly COPY it - how hard can it be?"
I guess they found out.
As to Sierra Space and ULA, I don't know why ANYONE would choose ULA over SpaceX - in terms of cost AND reliability, there is no company that can even come CLOSE to SpaceX - and ULA's rockets aren't even re-usable. They spend billions designing the rocket, launch it, and then throw it all away - and start over again.
It's a last-century way of rocketry, and will fall by the wayside, because it is a complete waste of resources. Only SpaceX (and its reusable rockets), in the long run, will persist and become even more powerful, reliable and re-usable. Any company that can't match that capability should, by economic models alone, fail.
As for "Blue Organ," I laugh every time I think about it, and Bezos' envy and ambition. Whereas SpaceX doesn't even patent their designs, Blue Organ doesn't even tell anyone about Bezos' "My Precious," and has STILL failed, after all these years, to launch a SINGLE spaceship into Earth Orbit - and now they have, like the Chinese, started to COPY SpaceX designs. It looks to me as though Blue Organ exists only as a tax write-off for Bezos, and a vanity project, so Bezos can pretend he is a Rocket King, liked the big boys.
Calling Blue Organ (yes, it's a purposeful misspelling), a "competitor" of SpaceX is like comparing a skateboard to a Porsche, and calling the companies who make them "competitors."
Very well said can't say it any better and blue origin is nothing but a thrill ride for the super rich and nothing more than a "Big Boy Toy" and nothing more and also looks like a Rocket Powerd dildo 😅😂 sorry but I had to say it... lol because it does... so it's nothing but a "penis shaped thrill ride for the super rich" and that's it a giant expensive toy! ! ! ! !
And to add FAA update news regarding falcon 9 return to flight and schedule that too wasn't mentioned at the beginning of the video as well
thats a unsub and report for click bait
Disappointed, treat your audience better.
Kevin, I have a question : Night is dark, day is light. Would repeating this statement 100 / 1'000 / 1'000'000 times make night darker or day lighter or change any aspect related to either condition ? Approximately a third of your content in this video is repetitions of of the last 30 or so episodes ...... Just asking.
They need to put out something every day for revenue, regardless of how repetitive it might be.
And an accurate Clickbait headlines
@@fionajack9160 Then that is just plain lazy .... No other word for it.
Although I have liked a lot of your content, you have crossed the line on Click Bait titles and have lost me as a subscriber.
This is not an airport, you so not have to announce your departure.
Click bait is still better than politics 🤔
XCX, it really puts this in a bad light. Not the first time either. If this happens again, I will unsubscribe to avoid the bad feeling. For what it is worth.
@@kirktierney there is only so much content to provide. Can't make something out of nothing. These videos are still better than politics or woke nonsense which seems to be prevalent
@@XCX237 Well, personally I would rather have silence than clickbait. We have enough lies. People are so spun by a wall of ... avalanche of political lies that, coupled with their poor critical thinking abilities, they havé no calmness anymore. I am a Canadian, so I pity America's project of tearing itself to pieces. You guys are doing a great job of it. But here we have rocketry as an oasis.
The move is very good.
Good Move!
Today they installed 4 point lifter was worked on ship 30 on static fire stand was rolled out early morning to static fire test site.. you should have started out with these information I gave at the top of your video B4 u did the rest
This is a really good site for information except for the titles. Quit putting things in the titles that aren’t relevant to the video. That’s just wrong and you don’t need to do that.
Yes. I love Texas!
♥️♥️♥️
Clickbait, Unsubscribing
They should dip it in the tile material.
Tired of clickbait and outright wrong headlines. Unsub'd.
Yes, I actually hope they do return on Dragon as I would be afraid to come home in the Boeing StarCoffin... and I would not want anyone I care about to come home on Starliner personally...
How do you ignore this channel.
Another fake title. I really enjoy these videos but fail to see why you must use fake titles to get people to view the videos.
ULA is a government/political based entity with deep roots in the military industrial complex. As such it is inherently incompatible with commercial services.
DreamChaser/Kuiper or top secret national security payloads? The choice is obvious and unavoidable.
Sierra Space should move their launch partnership to SpaceX, an institution with a cooperative, commercially friendly orientation and a more flexible schedule.
We NEED DreamChaser to circumvent the "eggs in one basket" scenario.
(personal opinion ⭐🙂👍)
This channel started so well, and now it's just lies. Unsub right now.
So what occurred to new nose cone to have a noticeable dent ?
Why are the Dragons referred to here as "prototypes"? Surely they are beyond that phase by now.
SpaceX has very little freedom to make changes to either Falcon 9 Block 5 or the Crew Dragon because *any* changes must be reviewed and approved by both the FAA and NASA. And with Starship less than two years from operational status SpaceX will make no changes to either Falcon 9 or Dragon 2 except those that are *demanded* by the civil servants.
@@jamescobban857 What does that have to do with the term "prototype"?
The answer to your question is "no," SpaceX's Falcon and Falcon Heavy are far from being "prototypes."
- They are matured, proven, commercial spacecraft, whose designs will continue to receive upgrades for a very long time.
They are now the "workhorses" of the space industry - the most reliable, powerful, and inexpensive-to-launch spacecraft of their class ever built.
They are also designed and built with reusability in mind, which is why they will get less and less expensive to use over time, as the boosters, engines, and all other parts are reused, again and again.
They will continue to be used and improved even after Starship is also a proven commercial spacecraft, because in space, "one size does not fit all."
There will always be a need for spacecraft like them.
This was a misstatement, which I also didn't understand. Rather disappointing, really.
Be seriously careful about misinformation in your title. The plethora of comments should draw you up quickly as Clickbait is not be tolerated and there are other channels similar to yours that people will flock to.
Why risk it, just use the Dragon and bring our people home safely.
It doesn't have a firepit for the engine plumbing.
That was the NASA idea since it started Artemis, backup backup backup, something Microsoft and Crowdstrike didn’t get it, obviously
Thank you for finally tying Microsoft to their CrowdStrike sub crashing the Microsoft stuff. YomamaBotswama CEO probably does not believe in backup backup backup.
Click bait again🤦♂️
More clickbait. Unsubscribed, bye.
Bettr hope the yearly power failuses in texas doesn't cause failures.
Large dent in the skin makes me think it is a pre-production model for proving that the parts will go together. I would give only a 1 in a 100 chance it will fly. We shall see.

More click bait. Where's the 'Don't recommend this channel' button
Complete and total misrepresentation of the facts. Having Butch say there were multiple launch options isn't saying that a rescue mission has been "ordered" That was the whole purpose behind Commercial Crew, multiple options. This channel spreads misinformation and is wildly irresponsible IMO. Viewers be warned. Click-bait ahead
so much for continuity between your segments. First you describe all the adjustments that were made for future starships, then later you say Spacex needs to make modifications, lol. Are we supposed to watch your videos backwards?
Why is nobody talking about the spacesuit issues with the rescue missions?
Because this is a pocket change contract to study the possible future ways of providing robust redundancy. Presumably, the study should propose the solution to the custom pressure suits problem, among many other details.
Nobody is taking babbling about "rescue mission" seriously. BTW, remember that Falcon9 is currently grounded.
@@bazoo513 grounded for IMO sabotage
@@XCX237 Go light a candle on the altar of infallible St. Elon.
Was the explosion of Crew Dragon on the test stand also a sabotage? Of the Falcon9 upper stage on the launch stand during fueling? In each of those cases, the root cause has been found pretty quickly, and eliminated. This is something SpaceX is very good at.
Every system has finite mean time between failures, and so far it has been incredibly high for the Falcon family, but it can never be infinite. In other words, shit, it *does* happen.
As you have probably heard, FAA has already cleared Falcon9 to continue flying, in less time than it would take them to determine when to start the investigation in the case of any other company. SpaceX now enjoys preferential treatment of various feds better than Boeing had in the best of days (which the latter squandered.)
YES
Wasn't the Titanic a Star liner ship too?

Not possible, look how hard it is to get a probe to mercury - one currently in transit has been on the go for years and it still isnt there. A great deal of energy would have to be expended to get such a mass into the sun.

is that Trained when the own Capsule has errors . That the Astronauts can go to the Space x Capsule and can fly home.
Is it a Full automatic Rescue Mission . A please sit down and dont touch anything . Sorry for my English
If I understand what you are asking, then SpaceX's Crew Dragon is capable of fully autonomous operation, making it - yes, a fully automatic rescue operation, with no training on its flight systems needed - it can deliver only cargo to the ISS, dock itself, detach itself, and perform its own reentry - or, with a trained crew, it can be flown by a pilot, making it more versatile.
They could be back in a week, or a week and a half, safe and sound, if NASA would stop coddling Boeing like a baby, and if Boeing could surrender its corporate ego for the safety of two of our most experienced astronauts.
Excellent stuff bro, go Elon

Report it! I'm sick of the 90% SpaceX spam!
This video thumbnail claims that “NASA Just Ordered Dragon to Save Starliner Astronauts “. That would be news if it were true (but it’s NOT) and nowhere in this video does it even say that. So, the thumbnail is an intentional lie designed to waste your (and my) time watching an hours worth of generic Falcon information that is nothing more than clickbait.
