Yep always love asphalt, here from London Ontario
Yes please
More!! Love it!
Please more videos. I love your work and your ethics. Keep up the wonderful work out there.
Yes
A beautiful driveway completed by truly a group of professionals who not only know and understand, but love the work and finished product they provide for their customers. GREAT job guys. Did paving back in the 80's in Brandon, Manitoba. I too enjoyed it and the experience and joy from it has never been forgotten.
Would love to see more paving work. Love how you took the video and the quality of the shots of the "PAVING" job was great.
It also was great to see Dale the owner of WCI since I've seen his trucks roll in your yard for loam.
Keep up the great work and less videos per week are better since they are more quality enriched!!!
Michael Anderson You guys did a fantastic job paving that lane way I love doing that type of work.
Hi man, liking your videos.
Trust me. As a coating plant batcher the customer will always complain if the tar/asphalt is too cold.
They NEVER complain if it keeps their toes toasty.
Especially in Scotland!!!!
Thank you! I appreciate that very much
Awesome video! Paving is really interesting, so, yea more paving!
Paved for 30 years. Never seen anyone use a paver to grade a driveway.. That would really scratch the screed up..
I tried it once don’t like it
Ive seen come people actually have an older paver that they strictly use for grading base but i wouldnt ever use the same paver on base as i would on asphalt
Green Knoll Lawn Care laying base is common with an old paver he is talking about how they drug the driveway with the screed
My old company use to do it every once in awhile. I don’t see how it would hurt it any worse than putting binder through it.
The company I used to work for, we used to do it with an old paver for base and finish grade stone... which we call 304 and 411 limestone here in Ohio. But we wouldn't do it with the same paver for paving a drive for fear of stone getting caught somewhere and ending up in the mat to dig out, fill in and rake leaving a seedy spot. Doing it the way they do it, isn't much worse than running asphalt through it, but definitely want a clean hot screed to start so I wouldn't recommend it.
This driveway paving video is absolutely captivating! I was hooked from the start.
Watching the transformation of a worn-out driveway into a sleek surface is so satisfying. The attention to detail and precision are commendable.
The visuals are captivating, and the narration explains each step of the process, making it informative and engaging.
Dale, what’s your favorite part of the job?
Dale: *walks away* 😂
Great video. Great equipment. Great crew.
Learn more Canadian lingo here everyday, laneway = driveway, asphalt = ASH-Fault 😂
hahah had to change the. original title I put laneway, than realized when I was making my tags that most people on yt search drive way.
Depends where you are I guess in southern ontario we always call it driveway
Being in The US I have never heard of laneway before Ya learn something new everyday Lol
Never heard it called a laneway before either......and I'm in Canada.
@@mknucarman in australia a laneway links 2 streets
I'm starting this type of job today. This video really shows me what to expect. Thanks for posting.
Greg and those WCI boys are cold blooded on getting that _hit done. That driveway looks excellent.....dope video thanks!
PAVE IT … awesome video so much learnt in 20 min as a new expansion to our operation we are leaning to paving…. Subscribed !!
Pave it baby!!! Loved this one bro!! I had my driveway paved last year, loved relating with this one 😁

KW Construction... Been following your channel for a while now, keep up the great work. I enjoy your videos a lot.
Paving! From NC, Keep it up and nice job.
Paving is everything to me, and I I'll pave for the rest of my life!!🙏💪💯
He's favourite part of the job is breathing in the freshly baked tarmac and 4:59pm lol😂 Love the custom boots though
That was cool! ...PAVING👉🏼👈🏼🇺🇸🇨🇦
Paving. This was a very good video of a spectacular driveway(usa) paving job.
Paving. Great stuff
i love watching these types of videos! keep it up. Your videos remind me of the other youtuber Andrew Camarata
Andrew has awesome videos as well.
I hear ya with Andrew and he reminds me of me when I started about his age. But damn he sure is hard on his equipment at times, but getting better! Yet, I give him a ton of credit as when I comment on his videos, I always give him good sound advice which he has pinned or highlighted a lot of them. He also normally responds to my comments. But that boy can fix anything! I did a lot of my own repairs until I was able to hire a mechanic. That is where he had me. Andrew does pretty damn good work and not afraid to try or test new things! Love his channel!
Paving and next year you be ripping it up to replace the rotten colvert pipe lol
Thank you I looking forward into the future to start a career in doing highways. And yes I watched your video untill the end good bless you and thank you
Paving! Great video, Cheers!
Thank you!
Pave it.
And you have a great long weekend to 😀
Paving, great video
Dale's custom asphalt paving boots KICK ASS!!!

Paving! Looks good!
Great Video. Thanks. Paving
Pavin'!!! Great video!
Interesting thanks for posting as it was impressive
Great job guys!!
If there was ever a time you can smell a video, great stuff
Keep this kind of content coming👍🏾👍🏾
will do ron
19:00 minutes.
"Little details that matter"
Boot mark in the mix. No compaction. Lol.
RUclips Student I’d hate to have a boot print
In fairness dale compacted over that spot at end of video.
Good eye. I ran a paving crew for several years so one thing I can say is it’s hard to control 8 guys 😂 if I had a dime every time I did my job and 4 others and then did my final walk around and found a boot print or something stupid like that 🤬 Over all they did a nice job definitely above average.
I've never seen that done , looks real nice
Paving from Missouri, USA!
paving , im only 20 mins east of carp :P love the content.. keep on going bud. gl with all the snow feb 27
Loooks good ! Nice skid steeer!
Paving, great job
Paveing great video Taylor something different I like it. We call it tarmac here in wales instead of asphalt
Loved operating the 289d. I have thousands of hours in the seat of a 289, 299 and 262
Awesome work!! Whatever tips you have, shoot them our way for our rakers over in Manteca, California- Arrow Construction!
I just found this video I love watching companies pay driveways and highways so I don't know if you'll see this but hell yeah I love watching these videos keep them up
Looking good!!!
Pave it! good video used to haul asphalt in south Carolina making me miss it lol
Next year's video: "Repairing the cracks in the driveway."
Why?
@@dztrbdgod asphalt is going to crack no matter what. However you can minimize it and make it last a lot longer by starting with a good base. If you want it to last as long as possible 18 to 24 inches and it needs to be compacted. When I say compacted I mean using a heavy roller not driving small equipment over it. I don't know how deep the base is but I would guess it's maybe 6 to 10 inches at most and since it wasn't fully compacted it's going to flex and move around a lot. It will settle in spots and the freeze/thaw cycles will move the base around quite a bit. When I say settle I mean the cars parking and driving on top of it will flex the asphalt and compact the base beneath. The asphalt will spring back but the gravel under it wont. That means there is a spot for water to sit between the asphalt and gravel that will freeze and expand causing it to crack.
If you want a driveway to last you need a really thick base that is compacted very well. If the base is compacted well enough there is nothing under the pavement to move and allow cracking. Keep in mind that you need drainage along with a solid base or you will get a lot of water that will freeze and expand, nothing in the world can protect against that.
The asphalt also needs to be about 4 to 6 inches thick since it's not going onto an already paved surface. Asphalt has a lot less strength than concrete and can flex much more so you need to start out with a thicker layer on fresh construction like this than if it was being laid over a surface that had already been laid. If you already had a good surface there you could most likely get away with a skim layer 1 or 2 inches thick and call it a day.
The cost of doing it right would probably be double what the customer paid for this job. That is why nobody does it because it costs a heck of a lot more to do the job right the first time and 99% of people would rather save a little money and let the next homeowner deal with it. Meanwhile they can advertise "new driveway just laid down" when they put the home on the market or if they are using it as a rental property for a while. My parents neighborhood went through a plague of this over the last 20 years. Homeowner has a terrible driveway and spends $3000 to $4000 to get it "redone" and then they sell the house. Then 2 or 3 years later it's cracked all over and hunks are falling off the sides. My parents had their driveway dug out and fresh concrete put down and it was around $20,000 but it will last another 40+ years with nearly zero maintenance. Some of their neighbors have had to have their driveways dug out and repaved after 5 years because it wasn't done right the first time.
The autobahn in Germany has an extremely thick base layer underneath it and the concrete is several feet thick. That is why 70 years later cars are still driving over a pretty smooth surface at 100+mph. You get what you pay for and putting the time and money in on the front end saves a lot of maintenance through the years.
This job would likely be fine for 5 to 10 years if they would have compacted the base properly before they laid down the asphalt even as thin as the asphalt was laid. As it was done I agree 100% with tripjet999 in 12 to 24 months there will be a lot of huge cracks and grass growing in them. Asphalt is fine for paving but it costs less than concrete for a reason. It needs a lot more maintenance over its lifetime or it won't last. I have no problem with them and would have an asphalt driveway myself but it would have a thick, well compacted base and a good thick layer of asphalt. By the time I have spent enough money to do it right I might as well spend a few thousand more and use concrete then I don't have to worry about maintaining the asphalt.
If I did that job there would have been about 24 inches of base that was compacted properly and 6 inches of asphalt. You would still need to clean and seal it every few years but it would be much more resistant to cracking and should last 15 or 20 years. Asphalt is petroleum based and will break down over time no matter how well you maintain it. The important thing is starting off the life of the driveway correctly so you don't have to spend that money (and more) every year down the line trying to keep it from falling apart because you didn't want to open the wallet from the start.
Wesley Jones my dad own a ashphalt company and what I have learned is it has to be thick and compact to prevent cracking for long periods of time
Wesley Jones Longest comment ever! Lol. Well done!
Compacting good the base is very important for durability.
Pave it! This video was badass bro! The editing was amazing! Keep up the great work Taylor! Congrats on 7000 subs too! 👊🏻
Thanks buddy!!
Pave it..........excellent information
Pavement I watch the whole video it was a good one. Learned a lot
Great video. Sure yous will get a lot more customers off of the back of this. You explain the job well. Pity yous are do far away from 🏴 really as iv a large driveway needing done 🙄😁 great team there by the way.
Pave it my guy!!
its a good you have your truck here with you.
Paving great job would love to see them at my driveway
We call those areas Driveways, in Calif, Idaho, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
Everyone in the world except for England and this guy call it a driveway lol
This is legitimately a proper job 👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦
Dale is a legend, hand tamping after the job is done
Now when said about the Cat roller having better compaction with the tires, that's not the purpose of a rubber tire or pneumatic roller, its main purpose is to squeeze the heat out of the mat, by not only the weight of it but the rubber absorbs the heat so the steel drum rollers can compact it, the asphalt has 3 temp ranges when to breakdown, compact, and finish.
Thanks Dennis! Love the info!
Nice work! Question why do you put a layer of hot asphalt before using paver? Thanks best regards
You need a mat to sit the screed on at the desired thickness to pull off from
love the paving content
Incrível o trabalho bem feito deles.
I used to haul asphalt in double bottom bumps and I actually miss the smell of it
The professional way, in UK there are gangs of foreigners selling tarmac driveways that are wafer thin and only last a couple of months
We have that here too in the State Nic. There is a big group of gypsies or what is known as the "travelers" based out of the Carolinas and super easy to spot! They have super fancy nice trucks, small paver like a Leeboy 8500, nice trailer and rollers. But yeah they rip people off all of the time and homeowners don't know any better! Like they tell them they are going to lay an inch and a half "loose" and then when compacted, they end up with an inch and a quarter, which like you said, in a few months it is breaking up or by next spring at the lastest.
Yes I watch the paving from start to the finish
Great video guys! Had a question. Why didn't you guys spray any tack before laying the asphalt?
I usually only put down tack when I’m resurfacing a driveway not when I have Dense grade down so maybe that’s why they didn’t.
Watched the entire video, thanks for making the video (Y)
I work in the automotive repair industry but I want to get into either the tree care service or pavement/concrete service. I like both but I think there's more work in the tree service when it rains, right?
Paving ....... knocked it out of the park
Just picked up a Weiler p385 and love it
PAVE IT!! Loved this. Learned so much. Liked Dale's ingenuity --- maybe he should go on Dragon's Den?
he should haha!
in northern canada we let gravel sit for 10-14 day be for we lay down black but looked good nice job
That's interesting. I'm in the states and just today I was on a road that got milled, graded and paved all in a matter of 3 hours.
We have a guy here in Ct that waits 30-45 days of the homeowner driving on it, then paves. Says it keeps the wheel tracks from sinking in as little as possible.
We did it all the time with road base, we would do it much faster then the dirt division and with better results in time and quality. Water spray your paver afterwards and lube it ready for the asphalt.
Paving!!!!!! Made it to the end. I'm waiting on one more company to give me an estimate. I wish you guys were from NJ.
Where in NJ? I can set something up !
Nicole B did u get it done yet?
Yes we got it done about a month ago now
Paving!! Good video
Pave it. Great vid.
Very interesting, done paving for many years and never seen paving done this way😂😂😂... as far as nobody driving on it for 4 days, welllll that’s news to me, if you get good compaction while rolling it anyone can drive on it as long as they don’t park on it for a day or 2... good video, b
But as someone comment, paver screeds aren’t for grading stone
Pavin
Love too see more paving content by you or like a duo videos with WCI
Fine job.
This looks like fun
That’s a weiler paver.would have saved a lot of time and energy by putting stone in paver and then running over the stone. For those who may say it would hurt the paver it doesn’t. Asphalt is made out of stone .Looks like a nice job👍Nice equipment but I wouldn’t bother with the roller with tires on it.
My best friend is going to teach me how to run. Heavy equipment
Ken down here in the state’s we call ur laneways driveways so pave it nicely done
Paving , new sub from Toronto
I want too see more paving videos favorite RUclips channel 🔥
Dales boot great he should market them to Australia ? Really great video to watch
Hello fellow down under person
That's nice paving a driveway
I work with the Teamsters now but ill never forget the few seasons paving driveways and parking lots lol black gold is really what it is
Exactly what my crew and me call it black gold!
Machines are kewl :)
Great video!
Damn efficiency!
If you have to fine grade with the paver, you need a real operator on the skid steer. I’ve been around construction and paving for many years and never seen that before. The guy in the shorts is an accident waiting to happen, that asphalt will blister skin in an instant and it sticks to skin real well. Nice finished product, gotta give them that.
Were you not supposed to run the compactor before the grader?
Very cool...more please
I will!
Definitely more paving content! Especially with the Weiler P265. I drive by their factory everyday when I head to work!
Okay I’ll get more!
Material we use here in the UK, you can normally drive/park on the next day. How come it takes 4 days to go off?
dont think theres any left over asphalt then it was maybe half a yard but isnt it meter in canada? but other than that good to know what i should expect tomorrow
it was a perfect job well done. my only thought was the expense. I was asked one time to have my driveway paved and it was quite expensive.... RL.........
