Fantastic video on the history of the PS3!! Man what a time, I loved the PS3 gen, the OG phat 60GB, I remembered being so excited and the gut punch of the price lol. Launch day was chaos, even though I miraculously managed to secure one, the mobs, lines and even theft and gun point was going around. Prices on ebay were ridiculous $1500-2700. Most of my friends thought I was stupid for getting it, while they went x360, man the trolling we early PS3 adopters went through in those day lmao. All that said like your video expertly explained, it did eventually get alot better, price came down and fantastic 1st party games coupled with free online play was awesome. It still was an amazing gen imo, my launch unit is still going strong, had to do a bunch of DIY cooling hacks for it, swapped the PSU for cooler running one, swapped the 14 bladed fan for a 19 bladed one, swapped all thermal pads and cheap paster for graphite foil and run Custom OS to control fan speeds, delidded both Cell and RSX chips lol, might even water cool it for life extension. Awesome video man, gladly subbed, cant wait for more from your channel, keep it up!!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that😄 I didn't pick up a PS3 until years later, but I've come to really like it's distinct personality; Sony, eventually, really did a lot of awesome fresh things with the PS3. Check out my N64 and Dreamcast "Story of" videos for more like this one, and I've got more coming soon! Thanks for the sub, and thanks for watching!!
Thanks, I really appreciate that!! I'm about to start work on my next "Story of" video soon, and if you liked this one then check out my N64 and Dreamcast "Story of" videos😁 Thanks for watching!!
@@retrojakexy the Dreamcast video is how I discovered your channel, I must have watched it at least ten times since then. Love that console and your video on it is absolute gold! But I’ll check out the N64 video, thanks! 😁
I started to enjoy the ps3 around 2009-2010 before that only 1 of my "spoiled" friend had one and i never found the exclusives interesting enough. PS: Me too i never tried Persona games, i should give it a try.
I honestly didn't have a PS3 until around 2019ish, so I was pretty late to the party, lol🤪 I still haven't played much of Persona 5, but I have now gotten pretty far into Persona 4: Golden on the Vita, and it's pretty awesome. Thanks for watching!!
The irony of Sony making a Sega Saturn move 10 years later: hard to program console, mostly less good looking multiplateforme game, 100$ more expensive at announcement. The very machine they killed with their e3 presentation, they ended up doing the same sh!t 2 gen laters with arrogance too! They can thanks their marketing machine and money from other division that their still there today, which Sega didn't have to survive, and could never overcome the lost of their disastrous launch.
Another thing, Sony didn't announce the slim model and the 299$ price at the ad, but at Gamescom on 18 august 2009. Also, another thing, PS3 is officially confirmed to be at 87.4M so I don't know how someone can turn the things that the 360 has reached 89M. But it didn't. Anywhere on the web, 360 is estimated to be anywere between 85 and 86M. So both have done quite more than the 80M sold mentioned by you. Another interesting thing to mention is that when you allign the launches for both consoles, PS3 has always sold better and more, yes even in those first 2 hard for the system years. Also PS Move was released in late 2010, not 2009. You have to work more on those type of details in future.
I remember when the ps2 was about to release, Sony claimed it was so powerful that it could be used as military computer and launch nuclear missiles. The console ended up having alliasing, with most port from the dreamcast being looking better on Sega's console, and overall having the worst looking graphic for the most of this generation. But hey, DVD player, yeah, heeeyy 🤷🏼♂️
Funny thing is, people still believe that whole "PS2's can launch nukes" BS lime till this day!! And I'm with you on the graphics; while I think the PS2 had some great games, it by far has the muddiest looking visuals of any 6th gen console, the Dreamcast included. That DVD player did wonders for that console😄 Thanks for watching!!
True, but the time period of the video they were at 155M😁 Though by 2013 they did finally reach 160M. Eitherway, that's a whole lotta systems!! Thanks for watching!!
Yes it did, which I mentioned at 6:53 😁 Originally the 20GB model wasn't going to have HDMI, but shortly before release they changed that and included it in all models. Thanks for watching!!
I like your content, but watching your vids quick adhd editing is exhausting to watch. And despise the likely heavy amount ot time editing all of this, I actually prefer to simply listen to your videos with the screen off. You would likely burnout less if you eased up on the new shot every 3 seconds approach. I'd rather see more of your content with less gif clips than the bombardment style here, instead of less frequent content and with this approach. still subbed tho. take from this what you will. I hope you relax the edit. not because of my comments, but because it's will be less effort for you to still get out good content
Funny you said this, because my next "Story of" video I'm toning all that down a bit. Trying to find that ballance between energetic and exhausting, lol🤪 I do appreciate the constructive criticism, and thanks for watching!!

I mainly play light gun games on it.
