I don't have rose tinted glasses, I have the opinion now as I did then. You are forgetting that the n64 controller was the best controller at the time. The ps1 controller didn't have analog sticks yet. Yes, cross platform n64 games didn't have fmv sequences or cd quality music, but you forget that the n64 versions usually had better graphics. Most of the best n64 games the ps1 and saturn just simply weren't powerful enough to do. Ps1 had many more games, but 90% of the library was garbage. The best n64 games were miles better than anything on the ps1 or saturn. If n64 had been cd based, it would've destroyed the ps1 and even competed with the dreamcast and ps2. There's a reason nobody wanted the ps1 mini, the games don't hold up as well today and mostly weren't ground breaking, by the time the n64 came out the ps1 was a very unimpressive system. N64 also wasn't for kids, turok 1 and 2 and golden eye were more violent than anything on the ps1 except for maybe silent hill which looked graphically horrible. Love ps2 and ps3, but the ps1 might be the most overrated game console of all time.

The 64 was great , in fact 4 of my top 10 favorite games were on it ! Mario 64 , Wave Race , Rouge Squadron, and Ocarina in TIme ! But I had to admit when PlayStation came out it at that time ! was over ! Funny thing is on my top 10 favorite. There is no PlayStation one games but three N 64 games.! My top 3 games of all time are Nintendo games! Funny, how time changes Things ! Just shows the dominance of Nintendo!

I really loved my Dream Cast , in fact whenever the hell I can get in my storage area, I’m gonna whip it out! 😂! “Excuse me why I whipped this out!! “ 😊 ! But in my early 20s, I had good money I bought every console 3do , turbo Duo ,, but never had a Sega console until, Dream Cast , and We played Dreamcast a lot., because of the games NFL 2K was great. We never cared about Madden , it killed Madden , shit NFl GamDay was better then madden , NFL 2K8 It’s still kills Madden ! Soul Caliber still one of the best fighting games it was the games that kept us playing Dreamcast! And then PS2 again the games that killed Dreamcast!! ! And I have to admit the DVD player was a big seller for me for PS2!! my 3DO had a DVD player, in fact, it came with a Batman cartoon, which was awesome!! I think that really hurt the Dreamcast the lack of playing DVDs! But I still think it’s a great console and I will get it out of storage someday!!

This would be so awesome if it didn't have the horrible music! It is so loud and distracting and obnoxious that it ruins the entire presentation. I'm sorry, I know that you put a lot of work into this but man this is a travesty .

Lol, Skies of Arcadia is a great game, but the best JRPG of all time? Get outta here. It was impressive at the time most of all because of it's next gen presentation, it felt like a new leap in that aspect, but it's nowhere near as good as Chrono Trigger or even Final Fantasy 6 (and yes 7, 8 and 9), to name but a few. Still a great game though and it alone would've justified my Dreamcast purchase. Well....almost.

Yea, i picked up the DC new for 50 bucks. A few months later if the lid was closed all the way it wouldn't work so i just set a game case on it to lower it without latching

I love how you start off with the only 2 games I owned for Sega CD as a kid lol. Got Bram Stokers with my model 1 for Christmas in 1993 and got Cliffhanger as a random gift from my uncle while on a trip in '95 lol. Probably a bargain bin game at that point but my brother and I spent a lot of time on those snowboarding stages lol.

Silent Hill, Resdient Evil, Tomb Raider, Ace Combat, FF7, Gran Turismo, GTA, and Metal Gear Solid are why SEGA collapsed in the marketplace. Most of the SEGA games could be beaten in 1-2 hours.

It's only failure in the eyes of "influencers" like you, that contribute nothing to society but critiques and always ask for someone to "buy you a coffee".

Oh man I absolutely loved my Sega CD! My favorite ,hands down, is Ground Zero Texas. A great sci-fi FMV game. I actually beat this one and Double Trap, which is my second favorite. Of course, who can forget the amazing Blade Runner-esque Snatcher. Sonic CD, Star Wars: Rebel Assault, Road Avenger, Heart Of The Alien are some of my all-time favorites! I think it was a great system regardless of the unpopularity of the Sega CD. Great vid!

My Sega CD collection includes most heavy hitters including snatcher. The Sega CD deserves more love as it was a new tech back in my childhood. Sega was ahead of it's time. WELCOME TO THE NEXT LEVEL NIGHT TRAP: RELAX PRETEND ITS A GAME

I just bought a dreamcast from my local game store. I bought it mainly for nostalgia since my cousin had one from Japan which I dug the sonic game mainly (being probably 8 7-8 at the time. 1998?) Glad to see all those cool titles at the end and that sword of the Berserk was mentioned! Can't wait to grow the collection but for now I bought Shadow Man which looks like kinda and is made by the same company as Turok 2, as well as the Tokyo Racing (or something like that). Fantastic video on the history of the PS3!! Man what a time, I loved the PS3 gen, the OG phat 60GB, I remembered being so excited and the gut punch of the price lol. Launch day was chaos, even though I miraculously managed to secure one, the mobs, lines and even theft and gun point was going around. Prices on ebay were ridiculous $1500-2700. Most of my friends thought I was stupid for getting it, while they went x360, man the trolling we early PS3 adopters went through in those day lmao. All that said like your video expertly explained, it did eventually get alot better, price came down and fantastic 1st party games coupled with free online play was awesome. It still was an amazing gen imo, my launch unit is still going strong, had to do a bunch of DIY cooling hacks for it, swapped the PSU for cooler running one, swapped the 14 bladed fan for a 19 bladed one, swapped all thermal pads and cheap paster for graphite foil and run Custom OS to control fan speeds, delidded both Cell and RSX chips lol, might even water cool it for life extension. Awesome video man, gladly subbed, cant wait for more from your channel, keep it up!!

There wasn't much the Dreamcast could do to succeed anyway; even if it was able to weather the PS2/Xbox/GameCube storm, Sega were bleeding out from way too many wounds. The 'cast was just simply life support for a body that was already meat...

The 20gb model 100% had an HDMI port.

Another thing, Sony didn't announce the slim model and the 299$ price at the ad, but at Gamescom on 18 august 2009. Also, another thing, PS3 is officially confirmed to be at 87.4M so I don't know how someone can turn the things that the 360 has reached 89M. But it didn't. Anywhere on the web, 360 is estimated to be anywere between 85 and 86M. So both have done quite more than the 80M sold mentioned by you. Another interesting thing to mention is that when you allign the launches for both consoles, PS3 has always sold better and more, yes even in those first 2 hard for the system years. Also PS Move was released in late 2010, not 2009. You have to work more on those type of details in future.

The irony of Sony making a Sega Saturn move 10 years later: hard to program console, mostly less good looking multiplateforme game, 100$ more expensive at announcement. The very machine they killed with their e3 presentation, they ended up doing the same sh!t 2 gen laters with arrogance too! They can thanks their marketing machine and money from other division that their still there today, which Sega didn't have to survive, and could never overcome the lost of their disastrous launch.

I remember when the ps2 was about to release, Sony claimed it was so powerful that it could be used as military computer and launch nuclear missiles. The console ended up having alliasing, with most port from the dreamcast being looking better on Sega's console, and overall having the worst looking graphic for the most of this generation. But hey, DVD player, yeah, heeeyy 🤷🏼‍♂️

I started to enjoy the ps3 around 2009-2010 before that only 1 of my "spoiled" friend had one and i never found the exclusives interesting enough. PS: Me too i never tried Persona games, i should give it a try.
