I've never really understood pedal tones until I watched this. I'm still not great at them, but I feel like I know how to approach them now, and why to do them. This guy is really a wonderful teacher!

Some people like to use fingerings (or slide positions) a half step lower than normal. This is OK on the "false" tones, but regular fingerings are best on the fundamental tones (real pedals) because they are actual notes on the horn. But, it may not matter all that much as long as you are puckering correctly.

Since I play the trombone I do use the "half step lower" on "false" tones because I can use them instead of trigger tones. I can can play them sounding sometimes better the the trigger tones. I must say that your pedal tones sound great!
