Top Gear isn’t even a comic. It is a dinosaur with respect to motoring. It uses cars as an excuse for men to behave badly; very badly (as the Orange one might say). Quentin, as ever calm and measured, and yet attention grabbing and good points well made. Almost a wafting review - you didn’t compare it to the ride in a Rolls-Royce, woodwork excepted, to which I think it is comparable. Thank you

that's BS, Electric cars came out in 1890's and were Better than ICEV . imagine, if Electrics were allowed to Continue development , they would ECLIPSE all ICEV and we would have NO NEED of any ICEV or Hybrid car. Battery and Drivetrain would have been Improved.

So it [the Model 3 at the time of video publishing] is the most amazing thing to come out of the auto industry in 100 years. But also, you are correct to point out that, if the research and development into batteries and electric vehicle tech had been allowed to continue, it would have been at such an advanced level for decades that there would only be museum running FFVs, taking their place alongside steam vehicles, for the curiosity of the public.
Getting a Tesla repaired from an accident has been, and for many years will be, a horrific nightmare. Some people have been without their car for a YEAR waiting for it to be fixed. And guess what, no insurance company on earth is going to pay for your rental car for a fking year. Tesla has a LOOOOONG way to go in making their cars repairable.

Quentin is a breath of fresh air (pun unintentional) in this current world of auto reviews. Back to roots and real. I miss this format so much. Even in Top Gear’s early days, Quentin’s reviews always had more mature feel about them. Keep up the great work.

FACTS are Tesla repairs typically are FASTER than ICEV repairs, but the Independent Collision centers have to order the CORRECT part and in a TIMELY fashion. TESLA can even Repair when on the Road with their TESLA Ranger service, included with ALL NEW Tesla Vehicles. they can even Order a FREE Loaner car (TESLA) if they have to take it to a Collision Center.

JESUS was NOT Perfect Either. MOSHE had his TESLA serviced many times (model S ) over the years and the MODEL 3 requires even LESS servicing than the Model S. there are Model S on the Road today that have over 300,000 miles with MINIMAL servicing.
Nice informal review of the Model 3. My wife has one as a daily driver, and she "let's" me drive it every so often. Like it's a privilege for good behavior! One thing about the minimalist user-interface - it only takes a day or two to get used to. A lot of the functions (like lights, climate controls, wipers, etc) are automatic, so you don't have to use the screen while driving. Things like radio and navigation are voice-activated; hopefully Tesla will continue to add voice-activated functions via over-the-air software updates. Just enjoy driving and that's it. (Hello from California!)

I got my UK SR+ at the end of June... I'm enjoying it too much to bother producing youtube content about it. but I will be dusting of my camera gear soon. I agree with QW, it's an amazing car and even with 240 miles range I can go pretty much anywhere without waiting hours at charge locations. Well done Tesla, well done indeed!
While 250kW V3 Superchargers are definitely coming, Tesla has just enabled up to 200kW charging speeds on third party CCS rapid chargers like Ionity or Fastned. You can already take advantage of this in Europe.
Yeah, actually more easily than in the US, since the V3 production line is still just ramping up and there's only a couple V3 stations so far. :) 200kW is still a good ways from the cars' max speed, but it's still a beast when charging on them.

The Model 3 lives all the way up to the hype, climbs on top of the hype, jumps up and down a few times squishing the hype down to make room for more hype.
I have Model 3 Performance. Same colour :) Yes, coloUr, I live in Canada. A very good review. I would only add that you don't have to charge it at Supercharger, just charge it overnight at home - cheaper and more convenient. Unless you live in an apartment.

Rapid charging is not linear. Point being no one charges to 100% at a super charger. On the rare occasion you may do that overnight on a "slow" AC charger. Also dispite being a fanboy myself, I can't leave your V3 comment without correcting it, 75miles in 5mins is correct at the bottom of the battery, not the top, remember it's not linear!
gary summons , you’re far more knowledgeable than me, but do I need it at the top, especially here in the UK where 75 miles will get you home from most places. 50% battery will give me 150 miles, and that should be quick, right?
Gordon Stewart Generally up to about 80%/85% the charging is quick. It is a case of using the sip-and-run method at fast(midpoint) chargers and let the regular mains charge up overnight at your destinations. Over 90% of all my charging is at home while I sleep - good old Economy 7

Have one on order for my wife, which no doubt I will ‘borrow’ occasionally! Mind you I love my Tesla model X which I have done over 30k miles in one year. One bit of advice for buyers, you will use a lot more than you think, so allow for 50% more mileage than you used in you old ICE car

This is I think the most anticipated car of the 21st century. Sure it got its flaws about assembly and quality issues, but the rest of the car is spectacular. I love my Model 3 LR RWD. I can do 600 km on one charge. Just unbelievable in any other EV.
The last thing I heard about the RWD LR was that they took it off menu, but that it was still available for order - at least in North America. If you’re still interested in the RWD LR, you should probably call Tesla sales to enquire about its availability.
If anyone is reading this trying to figure out whether to actually get one, this is a really solid review. As you move through the comments, first, look for comments from people who own an EV, not from people who don't. The people who don't are essentially guessing as to why they won't like it. I have had an eGolf for four years and a Model 3 for a couple of months. Second, range was not really a problem for me with the 90 mile eGolf, as my average drive was 30 miles a day. There would be a few times per year when that wasn't enough obviously. With a 300 mile Tesla, range is simply not an issue. Third, its far cheaper to charge than to fill with petrol. I can only imagine the savings at European gas pricing. Fourth, its an expensive car, no way around that, but cheaper to operate and insure than similarly priced luxury ICE cars. Fifth, the screen is more simple than any set of buttons. You. Will. Not. Miss. Any. Buttons. Sixth, if you are the type of person who will find it interesting as the autopilot features roll out, you will love this car. If you are not that type of person, the basic use in heavy traffic will make you happy. Seventh, the car is as well built as any other car. Which means stuff will probably break. But, EV's do not tear themselves apart over time with millions of controlled explosions. Last but not least. The company is either going to survive and thrive, or Tesla will be acquired. There is too much demand for the product for Tesla to simply go away. Whether Tesla can go it alone or not depends, not upon the cars, but upon the capital needed to build service centers, superchargers, and at least two more factories. No other legacy company is doing anything but dabbling in EV tech at the moment. VW claims to be ready for a big move in about a year or two, but that't not going to affect Tesla. My personal guess is that if the China gigafactory is up an running at the end of this year, by fall 2020 there could be a clear profitability situation. However, remember if Tesla sells 300,000 Model 3s in China next year they need to also build service centers and superchargers too.
Great reviewer. I like that Quentin addressed possible concerns of the older generation and the modern techiness of the vehicle. Too bad you have to strain to hear the commentary. It's a quiet car, but not that quiet!
Your fundamental proposition is flawed: the benefits of EVs (and Teslas) are so much more than range. Range is just what people talk about because early EVs were fatally limited; as you discovered it's not a real issue any more, even with the new Leaf, etc. Glad you made it back and forth, and glad you liked the Tesla -- I have had a Model 3 for a year and it is truly an exceptional car, but there's just so much more.
I feel I need to jump in and defend Quentin here. The guy is an absolute legend here in the UK and he knows what he is talking about. He is addressing the single biggest issue/myth whatever you want to call it, with non-EV owners which is range anxiety. The fact it isn't a real problem and shouldn't exist does not mean his intention to dispell it means his proposition in this video is flawed. There are many 1000s of potential buyers in the UK who will pick-up on his opinion of this car and believe him rather than the 1000's of enthusiastic amateurs on RUclips who they will ignore. This is a good thing for Tesla and EVs in general.
Tom Harrison I agree that there is so much more. Tesla has innovated the motor car in so many ways beyond the usual creature comforts. However, everyone I encounter who does not drive an EV (I do, BMW i3), the first question out of their mouths is “but how far does it go on a full charge?” It is an unimportant question in so many ways, yet it is the main barrier in ICE driver’s heads to giving up gas for electricity. Nobody ever asks the question of ICE vehicles. Everyone just assumes that there is a gas station around every corner. They haven’t cottoned on to the fact that the “gas station” is mostly at home 🤪 and that for most journeys, charging up at home every night or once a week (for me) is how the EV world works. There are so many fast chargers in the UK now on many networks that it is now easy to plan longer journeys with snack/meal/charging stops.
DC fast charging typically slows as the battery approaches a full charge. Your battery was too full to charge quickly. By the same token, the V3 Supercharger speed can't be extrapolated to determine how long it would take to get a full charge. But that really doesn't matter, because you won't need a full charge to reach your next stop.
As most people are right handed,it will be interesting to see how using their left hand on the screen will feel,that's just UK drivers only,great to see Quentin again brings back good memories,like when he'd call your money a wedge
"The meddling EU bureaucrats have got to this" I LOVE the fact you point this out. The majority of EV reviewers still seem to think that the EU is a champion of the renewable cause, despite them forcing us to increase our VAT on solar, despite them adding bloody noises to otherwise silent EVs and despite them trying to stamp out Tesla's innovative self driving technology. It needs to be highlighted.
A game changer in terms of tech yes,but way behind my 5 series in terms of build and finish.And you zap the range if you tap into all that performance. But yes,it is the future.

You never become a Tesla fanboy, just a Tesla fan. Those who drive other vehicles and criticize are fanboys unless their vehicles are as relaxing, reliable, and enjoyable as a Tesla.
That's the allure of these cars. Once you've been in one, every other car pales by comparison. The desire to own one is almost irresistible, yet the TCO (total cost of ownership) is comparable to ICE cars in the low £30k range... possibly even cheaper if you're a conservative driver.
Hmmm...then I must have a more discerning palate, because I've driven 2 Teslas, a Model S and 3, and while they were a nifty car, their lack of features and conveniences that are most important to me and my family's driving habits made it easy for us not to consider it for our future car purchase. But I do concur that TCO is on par with ICEV, especially when you objectively factor in the $10,000 charge to replace the battery skate in 10 years.
@@jaroessa294 Big myth that the battery skate will need replacing in 10 years. Possibly for non-Tesla EV's (whose technology is about a decade behind Tesla). Older Teslas (2012-13) may have the battery fade to around 70% by the time they are 10 years old, but the cars coming off the line now are likely to have a life of a million miles. Tesla will also start to roll out battery packs using cells made according to Maxwell's dry-electrode tech, extending the lifespan considerably, so as the technology evolves, the fear of battery degradation is becoming a non-issue - particularly with Tesla, but only a fool would spend an equivalent amount of money on a rival EV. As to a "family's motoring needs" - well that's a personal choice, but has nothing to do with the significant advantages inherent in Tesla's cars.
I have alot of respect for your reviews over the years as I enjoyed the original Top gear series. Really glad you like it but I can't afford the luxury of personal transportation so I just keep admiring from a far.
Quentin - ONE, thing you left out is , as a TESLA owner you must Enable #PIN to Drive, that way that cant just Steal your Phone, FOB or Keycard, they would need your 4 Digit #PIN to Drive. also, its Recommended you purchase REAR seat LOCKS to Disable opening the Trunk by folding the Seats down. even comes with WARRNING stickers , so they wont break your side window glass.
Nice review...... traded my 2016 BMW M3 in for a Tesla Model 3 last October, and loved it so much I had to buy my wife one also. Great to see that my home county of England gets to experience this wonderful innovation. If you think it’s good now, wait till the car get wireless 5g connectivity here in the US and also eventually the UK. Edge computing will bring on a safer ride understanding the millisecond delay factor it will deliver to the car. Maybe that car can even drive itself to the dealership with any issues it might be having, instead of Tesla roadside team having to make a visit. Who knows 😳 also putting the sentry mode video capture into the network cloud as apposed to a USB stick within the car. Everything is caught on camera...so don’t go messing with my Tesla 🤒. This all points to the current leased cars will become autonomous taxi cabs within the US, reason why Tesla will not allow you to buy a Model 3 at lease end.
Here in Queensland awaiting the Model 3 with anticipation. Got a test drive booked for next week. I am of an older vintage too. The tough job will be getting the wife on board with it as $70,000AUD is a huge amount for us. I want one so much I am coming out of retirement to do Uber driving if I get my hands on one. 6:13 Perhaps paradoxically, it's far faster to charge to say 70% and then make an additional stop. The charging rate dramatically slows down as the car gets closer to 100% in an effort to protect the batteries. One would never normally charge to more than 90% except at the start of a road trip.
Europe is just a frustrating place for innovation and new technologies. We (Europeans) are gonna be left behind really quickly if these bureaucrats keep at it
Wrong, it drives innovation. Indeed if it wasn't for Europe you would still be driving 7 MPG V8s or V12s which are both less efficient and slower than a 1.2 Ford Fiesta. Having to meet standards does not stifle innovation.
Tesla ist heavily dependent on German suppliers. There are about 36 German suppliers doing parts for Tesla. For example eBosch is working on Autopilot and Dräxlmaier from Bavaria is doing interior. You van find this on business insiders.de - only German. Means Europe is NOT the slow part in this sense. Engineering is brilliant but US is very fast in doing business.

Preferably you should not charge the car to a 100% (at least not on a daily basis), but only charge to 80 or 90% most of the time. But yes, I also think it's a very nice car :-)
Simply Human Yet somehow mainstream media in the U.S. paints the Tesla as an absolute failure! To me, this is simply "Big Oil" having a temper tantrum as they see their century-old power slowly slipping from their grasp. I suspect that oil companies will try to do what they succeeded at in the U.S. during the 1940s and 1950s when they bought up and subsequently dismantled clean, quiet electric trolleys/buses that occupied their own lanes in major U.S. cities and replaced them with smelly, noisy, and inefficient buses that had to compete with increasing traffic (cars and trucks) for the same road space. Or maybe they will buy out car battery companies and close them down. I would not be surprised. They will be desperate to stay on top. Stay tuned. Great review by the way. Cheers.
Quentin has repeatedly talked down electric vehicles and not just because of the range. There's a massive fossil fuel lobby. The charge speed you showed is really low for that state of charge. Yes, he didn't charge. Kudos for the positive review.
Sigh - V3 *doesn't* consistently add 75 miles per 5 mins... battery charging is not linear. It can add 75 miles in 5 mins if starting from e.g. 15% charge - but if you start from e.g. 70% charge you'll get far less range added in 5 mins. Likewise, you shouldn't (really) charge to 100% on the Super Charger - whilst it may have said 40 mins to 100%, it would probably have only taken ~10 mins (taking into account starting charge) to get to 80% (which is the recommended max for Super Charging, and there is normally a default stop at that point - given this is a press car, I'm guessing a previous reviewer disabled that stop point) In short, it takes *less* time to stop twice to charge from 40% to 70% each time, than it does to stop once to charge from 40% to 100%... so charge little and often, rather than trying to charge to full - it's not a petrol tank, don't treat it like one.
No it's not. It's a very serious problem, to me at least. My wife don't let me smoke in the car in big trips, so i've got to stop every 100 miles. The car is not a problem, But my range without a cigarrete leaves me with a lot of anxiety.
Don't charge to full 100% because it takes same time to juice up from 80% to 100% as it takes from 0% to 80%.. Meaning if you stop at two superchargers and charge upto 80% each time, it's total 160%. But it will be only 100% if you charge 0% to 100% at once.
@Ted Hu here in the UK that's not a huge issue 50% in 15 minutes complies with safety advise that you stop every couple of hours to stretch your legs. Except if driving on motorways and dual carriageways 50 % is 150 miles and around 3 hours of driving.

@@matsa85 I'm not racing anyone it's all about driver engagement, definitely not about how well the computer can drive, first thing I do is turn all that off. That said the T3 is a one trick pony, it accelerates fantastic at low/mid speeds only, cornering is good and braking average or less. M3 can go 60 mph to 0 in under 100 ft., T3 would plow into several cars beyond that. No reason for T3 owners to care either it's a family sedan not a sports car. (accept for the braking maybe)
Great , thoughtful review Quentin, but could YOU find the answer to a question Tesla ‘representatives’ in this country have problems answering. I reserved a long range AWD Dual Motor last year. You can no longer order this BUT you can order Long Range AWD Dual Motor Perfomance for just over £2000 more. If you don’t take up the further £3,700 option on 20” wheels etc What Do you get for the extra money? Keep the reviews coming Top Gear koi’s just a joke nowadays .
Robert Paice Hi Robert. I think they call the new specs Performance and then Performance with upgrades. As I understand it you get the 4WD 320 mile range and 3.2 secs to sixty time. With the Performance upgrades you get the rear spoiler and bigger brakes which gives you 163 mph. I think the Upgrade pack gives you the higher top speed and better brakes. I’d go for the AWD simply because you get that stunning 320 real life range compared to only 250 miles on the cheaper version. Best, Q

MOSHE had his TESLA serviced many times (model S ) over the years and the MODEL 3 requires even LESS servicing than the Model S. there are Model S on the Road today that have over 300,000 miles with MINIMAL servicing.
Nice informal review of the Model 3. My wife has one as a daily driver, and she "let's" me drive it every so often. Like it's a privilege for good behavior! One thing about the minimalist user-interface - it only takes a day or two to get used to. A lot of the functions (like lights, climate controls, wipers, etc) are automatic, so you don't have to use the screen while driving. Things like radio and navigation are voice-activated; hopefully Tesla will continue to add voice-activated functions via over-the-air software updates. Just enjoy driving and that's it. (Hello from California!)

I got my UK SR+ at the end of June... I'm enjoying it too much to bother producing youtube content about it. but I will be dusting of my camera gear soon. I agree with QW, it's an amazing car and even with 240 miles range I can go pretty much anywhere without waiting hours at charge locations. Well done Tesla, well done indeed!

While 250kW V3 Superchargers are definitely coming, Tesla has just enabled up to 200kW charging speeds on third party CCS rapid chargers like Ionity or Fastned. You can already take advantage of this in Europe.
Yeah, actually more easily than in the US, since the V3 production line is still just ramping up and there's only a couple V3 stations so far. :) 200kW is still a good ways from the cars' max speed, but it's still a beast when charging on them.
I heard the Ionity rapid charger has a habit of bugging out or breaking on people.
Indeed, charged at 1002 km per hour yesterday at Fastned. Supercharging goes up to 800 so far in The Netherlands.

A very good review. I would only add that you don't have to charge it at Supercharger, just charge it overnight at home - cheaper and more convenient. Unless you live in an apartment.

Rapid charging is not linear. Point being no one charges to 100% at a super charger. On the rare occasion you may do that overnight on a "slow" AC charger. Also dispite being a fanboy myself, I can't leave your V3 comment without correcting it, 75miles in 5mins is correct at the bottom of the battery, not the top, remember it's not linear!
gary summons , you’re far more knowledgeable than me, but do I need it at the top, especially here in the UK where 75 miles will get you home from most places. 50% battery will give me 150 miles, and that should be quick, right?

Generally up to about 80%/85% the charging is quick. It is a case of using the sip-and-run method at fast(midpoint) chargers and let the regular mains charge up overnight at your destinations. Over 90% of all my charging is at home while I sleep - good old Economy 7

This is I think the most anticipated car of the 21st century. Sure it got its flaws about assembly and quality issues, but the rest of the car is spectacular. I love my Model 3 LR RWD. I can do 600 km on one charge. Just unbelievable in any other EV.
pxidr I wish Tesla would bring the RWD back. It would sit very nicely between the SR+ and LR AWD at about a 4000€ difference 👍
The last thing I heard about the RWD LR was that they took it off menu, but that it was still available for order - at least in North America. If you’re still interested in the RWD LR, you should probably call Tesla sales to enquire about its availability.

If anyone is reading this trying to figure out whether to actually get one, this is a really solid review. As you move through the comments, first, look for comments from people who own an EV, not from people who don't. The people who don't are essentially guessing as to why they won't like it. I have had an eGolf for four years and a Model 3 for a couple of months. Second, range was not really a problem for me with the 90 mile eGolf, as my average drive was 30 miles a day. There would be a few times per year when that wasn't enough obviously. With a 300 mile Tesla, range is simply not an issue. Third, its far cheaper to charge than to fill with petrol. I can only imagine the savings at European gas pricing. Fourth, its an expensive car, no way around that, but cheaper to operate and insure than similarly priced luxury ICE cars. Fifth, the screen is more simple than any set of buttons. You. Will. Not. Miss. Any. Buttons. Sixth, if you are the type of person who will find it interesting as the autopilot features roll out, you will love this car. If you are not that type of person, the basic use in heavy traffic will make you happy. Seventh, the car is as well built as any other car.
Which means stuff will probably break. But, EV's do not tear themselves apart over time with millions of controlled explosions. Last but not least. The company is either going to survive and thrive, or Tesla will be acquired. There is too much demand for the product for Tesla to simply go away. Whether Tesla can go it alone or not depends, not upon the cars, but upon the capital needed to build service centers, superchargers, and at least two more factories. No other legacy company is doing anything but dabbling in EV tech at the moment. VW claims to be ready for a big move in about a year or two, but that't not going to affect Tesla. My personal guess is that if the China gigafactory is up an running at the end of this year, by fall 2020 there could be a clear profitability situation. However, remember if Tesla sells 300,000 Model 3s in China next year they need to also build service centers and superchargers too.

Your fundamental proposition is flawed: the benefits of EVs (and Teslas) are so much more than range. Range is just what people talk about because early EVs were fatally limited; as you discovered it's not a real issue any more, even with the new Leaf, etc. Glad you made it back and forth, and glad you liked the Tesla -- I have had a Model 3 for a year and it is truly an exceptional car, but there's just so much more.
I feel I need to jump in and defend Quentin here. The guy is an absolute legend here in the UK and he knows what he is talking about. He is addressing the single biggest issue/myth whatever you want to call it, with non-EV owners which is range anxiety. The fact it isn't a real problem and shouldn't exist does not mean his intention to dispell it means his proposition in this video is flawed. There are many 1000s of potential buyers in the UK who will pick-up on his opinion of this car and believe him rather than the 1000's of enthusiastic amateurs on RUclips who they will ignore. This is a good thing for Tesla and EVs in general.

I agree that there is so much more. Tesla has innovated the motor car in so many ways beyond the usual creature comforts.
However, everyone I encounter who does not drive an EV (I do, BMW i3), the first question out of their mouths is “but how far does it go on a full charge?”
It is an unimportant question in so many ways, yet it is the main barrier in ICE driver’s heads to giving up gas for electricity.
Nobody ever asks the question of ICE vehicles. Everyone just assumes that there is a gas station around every corner. They haven’t cottoned on to the fact that the “gas station” is mostly at home 🤪 and that for most journeys, charging up at home every night or once a week (for me) is how the EV world works. There are so many fast chargers in the UK now on many networks that it is now easy to plan longer journeys with snack/meal/charging stops.
DC fast charging typically slows as the battery approaches a full charge. Your battery was too full to charge quickly. By the same token, the V3 Supercharger speed can't be extrapolated to determine how long it would take to get a full charge. But that really doesn't matter, because you won't need a full charge to reach your next stop.
You're wright, and the 75 miles in 5 min is only with low SoC. So not at at 50% but round 10 to 15% Soc.

The majority of EV reviewers still seem to think that the EU is a champion of the renewable cause, despite them forcing us to increase our VAT on solar, despite them adding bloody noises to otherwise silent EVs and despite them trying to stamp out Tesla's innovative self driving technology. It needs to be highlighted.

You never become a Tesla fanboy, just a Tesla fan. Those who drive other vehicles and criticize are fanboys unless their vehicles are as relaxing, reliable, and enjoyable as a Tesla.
That's the allure of these cars. Once you've been in one, every other car pales by comparison. The desire to own one is almost irresistible, yet the TCO (total cost of ownership) is comparable to ICE cars in the low £30k range... possibly even cheaper if you're a conservative driver.
Hmmm...then I must have a more discerning palate, because I've driven 2 Teslas, a Model S and 3, and while they were a nifty car, their lack of features and conveniences that are most important to me and my family's driving habits made it easy for us not to consider it for our future car purchase.
But I do concur that TCO is on par with ICEV, especially when you objectively factor in the $10,000 charge to replace the battery skate in 10 years.
@@jaroessa294 Big myth that the battery skate will need replacing in 10 years. Possibly for non-Tesla EV's (whose technology is about a decade behind Tesla). Older Teslas (2012-13) may have the battery fade to around 70% by the time they are 10 years old, but the cars coming off the line now are likely to have a life of a million miles. Tesla will also start to roll out battery packs using cells made according to Maxwell's dry-electrode tech, extending the lifespan considerably, so as the technology evolves, the fear of battery degradation is becoming a non-issue - particularly with Tesla, but only a fool would spend an equivalent amount of money on a rival EV.
As to a "family's motoring needs" - well that's a personal choice, but has nothing to do with the significant advantages inherent in Tesla's cars.
I have alot of respect for your reviews over the years as I enjoyed the original Top gear series. Really glad you like it but I can't afford the luxury of personal transportation so I just keep admiring from a far.

Quentin - ONE, thing you left out is , as a TESLA owner you must Enable #PIN to Drive, that way that cant just Steal your Phone, FOB or Keycard, they would need your 4 Digit #PIN to Drive.
also, its Recommended you purchase REAR seat LOCKS to Disable opening the Trunk by folding the Seats down.
even comes with WARRNING stickers , so they wont break your side window glass.

Nice review...... traded my 2016 BMW M3 in for a Tesla Model 3 last October, and loved it so much I had to buy my wife one also. Great to see that my home county of England gets to experience this wonderful innovation. If you think it’s good now, wait till the car get wireless 5g connectivity here in the US and also eventually the UK. Edge computing will bring on a safer ride understanding the millisecond delay factor it will deliver to the car. Maybe that car can even drive itself to the dealership with any issues it might be having, instead of Tesla roadside team having to make a visit. Who knows 😳 also putting the sentry mode video capture into the network cloud as apposed to a USB stick within the car. Everything is caught on camera...so don’t go messing with my Tesla 🤒. This all points to the current leased cars will become autonomous taxi cabs within the US, reason why Tesla will not allow you to buy a Model 3 at lease end.
Here in Queensland awaiting the Model 3 with anticipation. Got a test drive booked for next week. I am of an older vintage too. The tough job will be getting the wife on board with it as $70,000AUD is a huge amount for us. I want one so much I am coming out of retirement to do Uber driving if I get my hands on one.

6:13 Perhaps paradoxically, it's far faster to charge to say 70% and then make an additional stop. The charging rate dramatically slows down as the car gets closer to 100% in an effort to protect the batteries. One would never normally charge to more than 90% except at the start of a road trip.

Wrong, it drives innovation. Indeed if it wasn't for Europe you would still be driving 7 MPG V8s or V12s which are both less efficient and slower than a 1.2 Ford Fiesta. Having to meet standards does not stifle innovation.
Tesla ist heavily dependent on German suppliers. There are about 36 German suppliers doing parts for Tesla. For example eBosch is working on Autopilot and Dräxlmaier from Bavaria is doing interior. You van find this on business insiders.de - only German.
Means Europe is NOT the slow part in this sense. Engineering is brilliant but US is very fast in doing business.

Preferably you should not charge the car to a 100% (at least not on a daily basis), but only charge to 80 or 90% most of the time. But yes, I also think it's a very nice car :-)

Simply Human Yet somehow mainstream media in the U.S. paints the Tesla as an absolute failure! To me, this is simply "Big Oil" having a temper tantrum as they see their century-old power slowly slipping from their grasp. I suspect that oil companies will try to do what they succeeded at in the U.S. during the 1940s and 1950s when they bought up and subsequently dismantled clean, quiet electric trolleys/buses that occupied their own lanes in major U.S. cities and replaced them with smelly, noisy, and inefficient buses that had to compete with increasing traffic (cars and trucks) for the same road space. Or maybe they will buy out car battery companies and close them down. I would not be surprised. They will be desperate to stay on top. Stay tuned. Great review by the way. Cheers.
Quentin has repeatedly talked down electric vehicles and not just because of the range. There's a massive fossil fuel lobby. The charge speed you showed is really low for that state of charge. Yes, he didn't charge. Kudos for the positive review.
Sigh - V3 *doesn't* consistently add 75 miles per 5 mins... battery charging is not linear. It can add 75 miles in 5 mins if starting from e.g. 15% charge - but if you start from e.g. 70% charge you'll get far less range added in 5 mins.
Likewise, you shouldn't (really) charge to 100% on the Super Charger - whilst it may have said 40 mins to 100%, it would probably have only taken ~10 mins (taking into account starting charge) to get to 80% (which is the recommended max for Super Charging, and there is normally a default stop at that point - given this is a press car, I'm guessing a previous reviewer disabled that stop point)
In short, it takes *less* time to stop twice to charge from 40% to 70% each time, than it does to stop once to charge from 40% to 100%... so charge little and often, rather than trying to charge to full - it's not a petrol tank, don't treat it like one.
If someone is going to drive that many miles in a day, they will surely stop for about 15 min. Range anxiety is a MYTH.
No it's not. It's a very serious problem, to me at least. My wife don't let me smoke in the car in big trips, so i've got to stop every 100 miles. The car is not a problem, But my range without a cigarrete leaves me with a lot of anxiety.

Don't charge to full 100% because it takes same time to juice up from 80% to 100% as it takes from 0% to 80%..
Meaning if you stop at two superchargers and charge upto 80% each time, it's total 160%. But it will be only 100% if you charge 0% to 100% at once.

@Ted Hu here in the UK that's not a huge issue 50% in 15 minutes complies with safety advise that you stop every couple of hours to stretch your legs. Except if driving on motorways and dual carriageways 50 % is 150 miles and around 3 hours of driving.
I'd have one if I could afford £50k on a car.

Fascinating the diff in AP. 5:25 --not convincing that two more of you could comfortably sit back there...looks lk 2 adult back seats only...but I must be mistaken. I KNOW it's "faster" than my M3, off the line and then some but I'll take it on in a canyon or track. :D

Not sure you will. The M3P has track mode, specifically to nail the M3 and the like on the track. Search for videos on this.
@@matsa85 I'm not racing anyone it's all about driver engagement, definitely not about how well the computer can drive, first thing I do is turn all that off. That said the T3 is a one trick pony, it accelerates fantastic at low/mid speeds only, cornering is good and braking average or less. M3 can go 60 mph to 0 in under 100 ft., T3 would plow into several cars beyond that. No reason for T3 owners to care either it's a family sedan not a sports car. (accept for the braking maybe)

I reserved a long range AWD Dual Motor last year. You can no longer order this BUT you can order Long Range AWD Dual Motor Perfomance for just over £2000 more.
If you don’t take up the further £3,700 option on 20” wheels etc What Do you get for the extra money?

Robert Paice Hi Robert. I think they call the new specs Performance and then Performance with upgrades. As I understand it you get the 4WD 320 mile range and 3.2 secs to sixty time. With the Performance upgrades you get the rear spoiler and bigger brakes which gives you 163 mph. I think the Upgrade pack gives you the higher top speed and better brakes. I’d go for the AWD simply because you get that stunning 320 real life range compared to only 250 miles on the cheaper version. Best, Q
Tesla (as you know) have the charging infrastructure that the rest can only dream about & that is not going to change anytime soon that I can see.
I think I’d still buy a used 2016 85D Model S with a 4 year warranty and free supercharging for life for the same money.
