Mayr countered by claiming, "intelligence" may very well be a "lethal mutation" in the evolution of biological organisms. The only "intelligent" life we know anything about are humans. Modern humans have existed only few 100 thousand years, compared to millions of other species that have existed for millions of years. We needn't talk about all the ways "intelligent" modern humans are destroying themselves and life on earth. ... We are more likely to find remnants of other civilizations than thriving, ongoing civilizations😢 If our earth has millions of species and humans are the only technologically advanced species on our own earth than shouldn't we extend that to the Fermi formula? 8 mil to 1
