    I really like the new Sapphire insert.. for all the reasons you went over. Aaron worked a long time on figuring out the right material composition to use so that it gave some of that fiber "pop" but was still very tough and durable. Great review!

    Got an EZ V two weeks ago. I like the simplicity and shooting with it feels more instinctual than trying to hold a pin on target. Used the insert for my estimated arrow speed and was hitting high at 30. Moved up to a faster one and its pretty dead on. Haven't shot past 30 yet. think some people can't get past that it's not a target sight and not really intended to shoot traditional targets with. It's for getting you in the kill zone at unknown distances. So your shot isn't always going to be perfectly centered but it should get you within the kill zone. Need to get a 3D target to practice with but I'm already looking forward to Fall.

      If ALL you're ever going to do is hunt and not shoot competitive 3D or indoor, than the EZV is pretty slick. If you plan on the former then learning to shoot a pin or pins is crucial.

    I got one of the sapphire inserts and one of the sapphire rings for the rim of the sight. I like the insert, not sure about the extra ring. It’s a little too big for my peep size.
    I’m still trying to decide if I want to go EZV or pins for this fall. Hard decision.

    • @stick__shooter
      @stick__shooter 3 года назад

      @@surviveitforbeginner I ended up going back to pins. I found the EZV a bit difficult to use for ranging larger elk size animals, and the precision really started to fail beyond 40 yards. I think it’s a great 0-40 yard deer sight but it’s just not as precise for me as pins. I also like to practice farther distances which the V didn’t allow.

    Doesn't such a sight require all your targets to be exactly the same width in order to be accurate? Like all deer have to be the same width/length? Like if you shot at a significantly smaller deer, the sight would think it's a standard deer, just farther away.

    • @TheNavydoc07
      @TheNavydoc07 4 года назад +1

      No, when you train with it your eyes naturally associate a rough 13” vitals area so you can shoot just about anything IE squirrels, dots bottle caps etc. it’s so versatile

    • @robertzeurunkl8401
      @robertzeurunkl8401 4 года назад +1

      @@TheNavydoc07 Makes sense. Even on a human, the center of the chest is about the same on everyone. But does that mean you are really only aiming accurately enough to hit a 13 inch target? So, not really for super tight groups, but just to make sure you get a humane kill shot when hunting.

    • @TheNavydoc07
      @TheNavydoc07 4 года назад +1

      Robert Zeurunkl making ethical kills is what it’s about yes. Aaron lasko the creator of the soft as videos explaining how it all works. He’s a genius but from my understanding. the stadia metric range finding is how that’s accomplished and I’ll be honest you can still shoot 2 inch groups at 30 yards. It takes about a solid two weeks to really be comfortable with it. I was a die hard traditional single pin shooter and shot well with it, but when I changed to the V I got better

      dale b My first year bow hunting was 1987. I’ve shot everything from brass pins, to the early colored “T” tip plastic pins, through the developing designs of fiber optic multiple pin fixed and single/double pin sliders. They all worked and they all had their benefits and drawbacks. Gave the EZV a try prior to the 2018 season. Two years, two elk. Just switched to the sapphire insert for the upcoming season. Some think it’s a gimmick. It’s worked for me twice in a row at the moment of truth. Use what works for you.
