    A belated but no less heartfelt thanks for another great tutorial.AND I would like to compliment You specifically for choice of making Your videos easier to "follow" by enlarging the "gui elements", record them using a "reasonable resolution" and concentrating on "concepts and principles" rather than trying to "get fancy" and getting "side tracked by details".
    I "often" comment on other "instructional videos" that I think could have been great, but by faltering on one or more of these , in my opinion "3 vital aspects", were rendered almost useless.
    Now of course I never criticise anyone for making a tutorial and who's trying to share their knowledge, just because I think the tutorial could have been better. But I try to express my opinion respectfully and point out that their work could possibly be accessible to even more people, if they considered these "aspects".
    I honestly feel a bit "sad" when watching what i.m.h.o. could have been a great tutorial BUT that was made "bad" due to faltering on these things. For instance all to many, otherwise good videos (i.m.o) fail due to using such a high resolution and small "gui" that they became all but impossible to follow the "work" and see critical aspects of the "procedure", rendering the efforts of the "creator" almost pointless...((Don't get me started on programming tutorials, "recorded on 4k screen, using 8pt monotype fonts" ;))
    Enough ranting, so again thanks.
    P.S. Also Bonus kudos for always making clear what version of the program You are using. As that is another possible "critical point" for many tutorials. As You otherwise might find Yourself unable to follow a procedure because You unaware that You're using a different version than the one that the "tutorial" is using. Which can cause "a rather high level of frustration" ;) when You believe that it's something that You are doing wrong rather than the software having changed..
    OK I promise my rant is really ending here :)
    Best regards.

    My problem is I want to create a path that goes in an irregular direction, say, from an xy plane to an xz plane and it traverses gradually, say, imagine like a long pool slide. I've created multiple datum planes but encountered lot of out of scope errors, besides the process I did is quite complicated just for creating a simple path. Have you guys created a video specifically for that? All videos I've seen only concentrates on a single plane. I'd appreciate to get any info or links. TY.

    I am a little lost on the relationship, or understanding what the part, body, and sketch model tree is used for? I am not sure what to click on to find things because I don't understand the uses of each or their relationship. Will this become more clear as I continue to work through your videos? In response to you request for queries ...
    in 2021 I started using FreeCAD and the tutorials I started with supplied a colour scheme - which I have used since.
    My query is - are you using the default colour scheme or one of your own - as mine is now a bit hodge-podge whereas I find yours is easy to see.
    Suggestions on a colour scheme would be appreciated.
    P.S. If it was in your Tut #1 or #2 - please advise as I may have missed it due to skim watching those those!
    Thanks for these great tuts and your #3 taught me its OK (actually good practice) to use multiple sketches, I did not pick that important point up from any other tutorials.
    Since your #3, my designs are getting more complex but easier to produce!

    I created a combined curve (using the curves workbench) along which I want to sweep a profile. It was created with two arc sketches, one on the XY plane and the other on the YZ plane. The combined sketch is the shape I want and is black in color as expected. However the top of the new (black) curve is not tangent to the YZ plane which I thought it would be since my XY sketch arc was tangent to the Y axis. The top of the black curve touches the YZ plane but is not tangent to it. Is there a way to make the black curve actionable so I can get it to be tangent? Thanks for your awesome videos! If it helps, my XY arc is 60°, centered on the X axis, 30mm R, tangent to Y axis. My YZ "arc" is bell shaped, 12mm high, both ends tangent to the Y axis. I moved the bell curve along the X axis until I could join its two ends to the ends of the XY arc. Those are the two arcs I used with the mixed curve tool.@@Adventuresincreation

    Edit.. inserted "multi-section": If my visual 3D perception is not fooling me, the first sweep of the square along the B spline line keeps the square normal to the spline rather than the axis it was originally created on. So, the square does not necessarily end up in the same plane that it was created in. When doing the multi-section sweep, however, if the ending shape is in the same plane as the beginning shape, the entire sweep stays in the same plane? Is that correct? This is just visual observations, so may be incorrect. By the way, with my less-than-perfect vision, the larger icons are better. Thanks for your detailed training videos.

    I'm trying to subdivide a small lidded storage box by adding small removeable part containers with an open top based upon something similar to this design:
    ruclips.net/video/VntGnLuwoeY/видео.html
    But for those that will be inserted around the outside perimeter, the small containers I'm creating ideally would slope outward slightly (i.e. be slightly wider at the top in one X or Y direction) to fully use the space since the storage box slopes outward in the divided spaces around the perimeter.
    I successfully created the loft after establishing the two squares in FreeCAD and lifting the top square in the Z plane, however, after performing the loft, if I try to Pocket the shape, it insists on removing the left side despite only having selected the top face to do the pocket. I assume this is related to the fact that the left face is not planer with the YZ plane (the only side that isn't planer to a standard plane).
    Do you know what I'm missing here, or if there's another method to hollow out the shape to get my small storage bin, or is FreeCAD limited in not being able to pocket irregular shapes like that?
    Your tutorials are top shelf and whatever I'm trying to learn I review what you've put out before looking elsewhere. Thanks for putting together such a great series.
    I'm far from being able to pull it off, but perhaps you might see value in creating a tutorial to generate boxes like that from a spreadsheet where the dimensions and wall thickness is entered to create any small storage bin?

    Definatley larger icons, but me personally don't care for the red circle around the mouse, but it won't stop me from watching or learning. I'm trying to make a lens for eye glasses and have only been able to make them flat with the pad, I can do it in blender but I want to be able to set it up parametric to be able to change both strength and shape

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 года назад

      Thanks for the input, the cursor set up was developed with input from people who have partial sight. It helps them to follow the lessons. How are you creating it in blender? Is the shape a concave/convex or is more complicated than that? You could use a revolve and then cut that to the outer shape you need.

    • @Zimbob2424
      @Zimbob2424 2 года назад

      @@Adventuresincreation As far as Blender I would start with a sphere and cut it and alter the size and shape or use booleans, but that doesn't work for real world applications and 3d printing, another words I can manipulate the mesh to make it look good for on a monitor, but it is not as accurate. And I want to be able to set it up to change the size and shape easily. It's concave on the outside and convex on the inside.

    Thanks for the video. Is it possible to make the loft follow a 3d path or is lofting restricted to 2d (of the path sketch) ? I'm wondering if/how I could use this to model the cables which snake around a more complex machine.

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  3 года назад

      You can do that with the sweep. It follows a 3d path. It makes great cables. The loft doesn't follow a path.

    I was getting close to the end of lesson#5 and started having issues again. I had been saving my work "save" so when it started acting funny (it "mm" switched to "um") so I just closed project discard changes, since I had been saving, Right? I re-open lesson #5 and found out none of the saves worked and all my work was lost... My Question: so if you save during a lesson and then close without hitting save again then all the other saves in-between will be lost?

    • @Adventuresincreation
      @Adventuresincreation  2 года назад

      That is very odd Gary, I have never had that happen to me. Not sure why the previous saves would not have worked.

      I would like to add that my Freecad first started to do the same thing everytime I would try to dimension, perform a symmetry just like before (points got really small so I could not select them) so I reinstalled the latest version of Freecad, also then my units changed from "mm" to "um" which I thought was weird. I can send the file if needed? meanwhile I will go back to lesson #5 and start again with a new file and a different file name. Thanks

But no matter what I am grateful for you decide to share your knowlage.....:)

      I am not sure what you mean by deleting things? Usually, you delete something by selecting it and hitting the delete key. To turn things on and off, I explain very slowly that you select the item in the model tree then hit the spacebar. What would you suggest to make this clearer?

    As I commented on your last video, I found that the front of the loft has two sides with a line down the middle (oddly enough the line being the sketch). For some reason slicers HATE this line and will mess up the 3d print job. Is there a way to remove the line? The only way I found to fix the issue is to export the file, open the exported file in FreeCAD and then export that new file again. Please tell us there is a better way. :)
