He put the ball right in front of him to take on the crossover. Rose would normally take that. Beyond that, Memphis as a team had fouls to give. Should have fouled and put Collins on the line for 2. Chalmers should have never even touched the rock.

You had a DOMINANT squad. All the pieces were there. As a Kansas fan I had a TERRIBLE feeling at around 3 minutes to go. It felt like 1991, 1997 (Pierce, Vaughn, Haase, Pollard, LaFrentz) and 2003 all over again. Memphis was such a strong opponent. Their guards were outstanding, they had big inside bodies...no wonder you guys went 38-2. The whole Rose thing is blown up a little. But a Memphis win would have been vacated. It is interesting that teams who eventually got their seasons vacated (Michigan 1993; UMass 1996; Memphis 2008) never won the title. Anyways, this was a great college basketball game no matter how you slice it. We destroyed ourselves from the line in 2003 against Syracuse...we must have missed like 15 free throws. Yes,Memphis missed 5 free throws in the last 2 mins of regulation.They made some mistakes in overtime as well,like that easy basket from Brandon Rush in fastbreak,and that foul on 45 seconds left when they were down by 3 under a minut to go(if Rush did not get that layup on a fastbreak it would be +1 for Kansas).But,my opinion is,that they lost the game in the first half, when they gave away too many easy points in the paint.There was a Kansas shot chart at 35:15 on the video that shows everything. Also Memphis lost they flow in offense a little bit in that last 2 min of regulation and couldn't score on half court game.Great game.
