Kathleen, after I watched your first video about the Dollar Tree JJ challenge, I couldn't resist joining in. Thanks for the push. It is always so interesting to watch you transform pages for your journals. This painting technique looks like fun and your results are really beautiful. Looking forward to the next steps and seeing what you do. I think I finally decided today on what I'm using and what I'll make. It is interesting to have the limited supplies and thinking of ways to make it work. Thanks, Kathleen.
You DO have images! Use the gardening magazine floral images. They would make beautiful journal pages! Plus you have stamps too. You could also make collage pages with the small package of mixed colored papers you purchased. P.S. love the painted pages! Great ideas! TYFS Cindy
OMG! Kathleen, these are Amazing. Loving all these ideas. I am going to have to do some splatter on my pages. Love the sanding of that one cover to tone it down. Thanks! Great video.
haha - it could be! Sometimes a little rust comes off on things also to add to the texture and color! It’s a perfect size and I wish I had 10 more!d Thanks for watching Judy!
Beautiful and love the scoring idea to add some interest!! woohooo! Also, did you want to add the paperterrace hash tag to your post? Would love for you to be considered in the competition!
I've just discovered your channel and you are such an inspiration! I have so many ideas and can't wait to get to some crafty play! I'm busy working my way through your videos. When you say you dry the papers in the oven, how long for and on what setting? And is that hot you dry the painted papers?
Welcome!! I don’t have a rule because it all depends on how big the stack is and how wet I have made it, and that is different almost every time. When I dry a stack of papers like this I turn the oven very low, just warm really - 180 Fahrenheit because I don’t want to babysit the papers and then I just check them through the day as they dry. If I have time I shuffle the papers as they dry. Thanks so much for all your watchtime.
Thank you Deb! When I do a stack like this, I don’t want to babysit it, so I just put the oven on about 180 Fahrenheit and let it go while I do other things. I check on it and after a while shuffle the papers when I think of it. The time just depends on how many papers are in the stack and how wet I made it, haha. That doesn’t help much does it? Usually done in a few hours or so. I’ve never paid attention to be honest. I just keep checking throughout the day- BUT I keep the oven at warm.
Probably Sandra! Especially with normal paint, but there was just something strange about it. Perhaps they left out something in that batch because it was really more of a glaze than paint, haha. But, you are right. It could have worked better the other way round.
Lisa - I set the oven on warm, about 180 degrees Farenheit. But the time is harder to answer. That depends on how many papers are in the stack and how wet they are and it varies every time. That's why I set the oven on low, so that I don't have to stay right there and babysit. I just check on the stack through the day and shuffle the pages as they dry, every now and then.
I use the oven on warm for the stacked sheets with the water Nikki, but the painted ones get dried one at a time with my hair dryer on high, haha. Thanks for coming by!
I don’t have an established protocol for drying Kristine. It all depends on how big the paper stack is and how wet I have made it, and that is different almost every time. When I dry a stack of papers like this I turn the oven very low, just warm really - 180 Fahrenheit or so, because I don’t want to babysit the papers and then I just check them through the day as they dry. OH! What a shame. If you have a little ammonia, try adding it bit by bit to see if that helps move the ink. (Mixed with water of course, haha) it might help. You might also try a little acetone in water if you have any fingernail polish remover…Or, try some other papers.
I am enjoying these videos on the DTJJ challenge, please keep them coming , thank you.

Nope. Not yours. It has to be mine. 😉

Beautiful and love the scoring idea to add some interest!! woohooo! Also, did you want to add the paperterrace hash tag to your post? Would love for you to be considered in the competition!
Thank you Gemma! The hashtag is there actually - I’m in the playlist.

How fun. What temp do you put your oven on and for how long roughly to dry the papers? I love the robin's egg blue color!

@@BeAgainBooks Thank you for the reply!
Would it work better adding the blue TO the yellow rather than yellow to blue?
Probably Sandra! Especially with normal paint, but there was just something strange about it. Perhaps they left out something in that batch because it was really more of a glaze than paint, haha. But, you are right. It could have worked better the other way round.
How long do you leave the paper in the oven and what temperature?
Lisa - I set the oven on warm, about 180 degrees Farenheit. But the time is harder to answer. That depends on how many papers are in the stack and how wet they are and it varies every time. That's why I set the oven on low, so that I don't have to stay right there and babysit. I just check on the stack through the day and shuffle the pages as they dry, every now and then.
How long do you keep in oven and what temp?
The temperature is low - maybe 180 - 200 degrees Fahrenheit. The time depends on how wet and how many papers are in the stack.
What did you use to dry your paper?
I use the oven on warm for the stacked sheets with the water Nikki, but the painted ones get dried one at a time with my hair dryer on high, haha. Thanks for coming by!
Where have you shared your dying protocol?

I am working on the composition notebook from dollar tree - the red lines disappear but nothing happening to the blue lines. Boo hoo!
OH! What a shame. If you have a little ammonia, try adding it bit by bit to see if that helps move the ink. (Mixed with water of course, haha) it might help. You might also try a little acetone in water if you have any fingernail polish remover…Or, try some other papers.
