When people say that blues are the most popular color, I’m surprised because Brown has and always will be my favorite color of ink. I have a Leonardo ink called Noce Moscata which I am Gaga over. I bought mine off Goldspot and it is such a well behaved and saturated brown 🤩🤩🤩
Loved this video! Brown inks are one of my favorite colors. I have to many as well. Loved the FWP Oyster Hour which I don’t have yet….. Thank you ink enabler😉 Yes please more video like this! Truly enjoyable!
@@timewithtata8004 Diamine Les Paul Guitar Series Tobacco Sunburst is a less expensive and pretty close substitute for Caffe Crema if it’s out of stock.
Fun video, I adore brown inks, too. Cocoa Shimmer looks especially good on ivory paper and I like Pelikan Brilliant Brown in my Sailor that has a slightly scratchy MF nib, because it's nice and wet. Others I love are Colorverse Coffee Break, a beautiful medium brown, Diamine Espresso, a dark greyish brown and J Herbin Lie de The, a pretty medium brown. I have lots of other browns, but so many of them dry up and clog my pens after awhile. The pens I have the best luck with not clogging are Twsbi's, though I keep Diamine Espresso in a Pilot Prera M nib and it's never clogged. That Robert Oster Cafe Crema you swatched looks interesting, I'm putting it on my list. Thanks for sharing.
I love a good brown. My current favorites are Robert Oster Motor Oil and Dominant Industry Winter Wood…perfect alternatives to black. Thanks for sharing!
I have Cinnabon inked in a vintage Esterbrook and it writes beautifully! My favorite everyday brown is FWP writing desk. It is always loaded in my FWP brush pen and I in fact use it every day. This was a fun review!
Great video! I also enjoy browns. My favorite is one that you did not show - Montblanc Swan Illusion Plume. It is a lighter brown but shades beautifully.
What was really nice about this video was the chance to see a number of brown inks close together in comparison. I only had a sample of it, but I really liked De Atrementis' Document Brown. There are two other brown inks that I also like. They are in 30 ml bottles and they are Sheaffer's Latte, and Diamine Chocolate Brown. Three Brown inks that I did not see in this video. I wouldn't mind seeing another video like this but with green inks.
My favorite brown inks, outside of the few you mentioned, are Diamine Brandy Snap, Diamine Cherry Sunburst, Diamine Burnt Sienna, Kobe #8 (this could read orange if you want it to), and Monarca Tierra Colorada.
Thank you for this lovely video. I'm beginning to love my brown inks. My favorite for the past couple of months is Akkerman's SBRE Brown. This ink is the bomb and is full of shading and sheening. I think this is my number one brown ink so far. Cheers!
Terrific video! I'm in the same too-many-brown-inks camp! When you mentioned that you love brown inks that tend towards pink, I thought immediately of Wearingeul's Don Quixote. It's a GORGEOUS brown/pink/purple.
The hunt for the perfect [insert color here] can become a bit of an obsession. I found myself doing the same with pinks and turquoises. I finally used the monthly view in one of my spare hobonichi's to swatch all the colors right next to each other so I could see how many I have and if they're similar to each other. This can also not help as I did it with browns trying to decide if I needed bottles of some samples I bought and it turned out that, yes, I do need more bottles of brown ink.🤣
I also love browns! I am going to purchase some of these that you have shared and I will venture more into sheening and shimmering inks that I have shied away from. I tend to leave my pens inked for quite a while so that is why I have stayed away from shimmering inks. I love listening to you; you are like my new best pen friend. I wish I had the budget to purchase some of the pens you have featured in other videos. You are the reason I finally broke down and bought my first TWISBI (Blue and Copper) and I am going to purchase another couple very shortly! I am now planning on a broad nib cream and rose gold eco, I think it is, and the white and rose gold mini. I just love the look of the mini in your hands! DARLING PEN!!! I am finding that it is worth waiting for the nib size I want rather than buying whatever size is currently available. I like fine/extra fine lines but you just can't see the ink colors and that is why I spend so much money on inks! I am definitely a JUICY BROAD! Love the new name!
I love my friends in the Juicy Broads club! lol! Thank you for your message. How are you enjoying your TWSBI?? I continue to reach for the mini. I love it so much! Definitely worth waiting for the right pen/nib combo to get what's right for you! Have fun! xo
I took your recommendation on Ox Knight leather planner cover they are beautiful. Ordered an A6 loved it so much ordered A5 love it just as much! Thank you for sharing and recommending.
Great video, this is also on my alley, because I am always searching for a tea colored ink, the kind of rosey orange with dark brown 🤎 hues in it, though I'm thinking now it's just blacks, and the mix comes out looking brown. I loved your video, you make good points, also, the darker swatches tend to be more accurate for me and my medium wet and very wet pens. I hope you have a lovely week!
Like you I have quite a few browns and currently my favourites are - Wonder pens exclusive Dominant Ind (Ginger Chicken) along with Akkerman SBRE brown and Colorverse Coffee Date.
Ginger chicken is always sold out when I try to get it. Everyone loves it! Lots of people have mentioned the SBRE brown too! This video is leading to more brown ink purchase, lol! Send help!
Taccia makes some very interesting inks. There are some famous browns missing including Sailor 50 states Texas and Akkerman SBRE Brown. Notheless, this is a very interesting and informative video. Thanks
Great video! I also love brown inks. I don't have a favorite yet. Monteverde Scotch Brown, is a nice dark brown that behaves very well and has great shading. As for Diamine Cinnabun, I have it in a Sailor PGS with a MF nib and it writes beautifully. I've not experienced any feathering.
Nice! Brown ink is a thing for me, too, but I don't have as many as you do. I have the Taccia Kurocha, and I know the water resistance is pretty good with it, but what other ones on here have good water resistance? Thanks!
I’m pretty brown obsessed too. That and red are my favs. How can I get a heads up for Diamine Inkvent? I’d like to do that for 2024. I love Diamine inks.
my preciousss is Ferris Wheel Press Steeped Umber .. I got a sample in the 3 pack (with Oyster Hour and Spruce Country Post) and the sample just vanished .. the full bottle is already lined up for my next shopping spree :)
Thanks for brown ink comparison video. I never really paid much attention to brown inks, but you provided nice examples of them. Our dogs look alike! What brown-ish ink do you think best matches their fur? LOL! Thanks for the great videos!
That thing you said about trying to find a particular shade then ending up with a bunch of "close to the same" is my fear right now. Being only a few months into ink, I have several browns on a list with the goal of finding a perfect "caramel" colour. Thankfully I haven't bought them all yet 😂
@@ahimay yeah I'm definitely leaning towards an orangey brown, like those little caramel candies. Ferris Wheel Press Autumn in Auburn is also on the list, though it's a bit more brown than the orange of Earl Grey Tea
You’re starting to cost me too much money! First I booked a flight to japan soon after watching your Japan videos (got back 4 weeks ago and loved every second!) and now i have 4 inks and a notebook from this video to buy 🤪
I have my five brown inks in Pilot Iroshizuku Tsukushi & Yamaguri, FWP Writer's Desk, Conklin Vintage Rich Mahagony and Noodlers #41. Each have a level in shading, with #41 with archival properties. All tend to lay down dark, and lightens as they dry.
Hi, I was wondering if you'd be willing to cover buying pens in Japan on Juicy Broads or your own channel. I have a friend who might be going to Japan this year, and she's willing to pick up a pen for me at Itoya or somewhere if I give her instructions on how to do it, but I don't know either! When your husband has picked up pens for you or when you shopped for yourself in Japan last year, what was the process like walking into a store and buying a fountain pen, especially if you don't speak Japanese? Are there resources that help keep track of Japan exclusives or prices? I've always heard that it's cheaper to get a Sailor/Pilot/Platinum in Japan, but I don't know how to find out what the actual range is.
@19:53 Robert Louis Stevenson ink might have been the driest ink I ever have had; it was impossible to write with Pilot Customs 743 SFM and FM, and with some other pens. I liked its colour however, but it would not be an ink I would go ever again, madam. Thank you for the excellent video, however!!! It is a video with a lot of brown inks!
Unpopular opinion: I LOVED the Cinnabon in my inkvent calendar. I put in in an EF sailor and it's perfect.
what about Diamine Tobacco Sunburst?
When people say that blues are the most popular color, I’m surprised because Brown has and always will be my favorite color of ink. I have a Leonardo ink called Noce Moscata which I am Gaga over. I bought mine off Goldspot and it is such a well behaved and saturated brown 🤩🤩🤩
nutmeg; in my native German it is muskatnuss, but the Italian sounds best!
Loved this video! Brown inks are one of my favorite colors. I have to many as well. Loved the FWP Oyster Hour which I don’t have yet….. Thank you ink enabler😉 Yes please more video like this! Truly enjoyable!
That diamine yule log is sooooo pretty!
My favorite is Diamine Desert Burst because of its awesome shading! Loved this video - your voice is so relaxing!
Such a great video!!!! Thank you. You have opened my eyes up to Brown Inks.
Diamine’s Pick Me Up is one of my favorite inks.
It's so good!
Great video! I love brown inks too. For a lighter brown I prefer Robert Oster Caffe Crema and Diamine Chocolate Brown for a darker one.

I really enjoy the music. It is very relaxing. It makes watching the video so enjoyable.
Noodler’s Walnut is lovely.
Love the video. ❤ I really like Diamine Chocolate Brown
I have Cinnabon inked in a vintage Esterbrook and it writes beautifully! My favorite everyday brown is FWP writing desk. It is always loaded in my FWP brush pen and I in fact use it every day. This was a fun review!
This is wonderful, such a good video ☺☺
The swatch on the left of Diamine Dusted Truffle is from the brand “Trouble maker inks”
I loved this video, love my brown inks too. My favorites are Akkerman SBRE brown and Taccia Tsuchi of the Sunao-iru line 😊

😊I want to try Birmingham's Extradimensional Umber.
Awww beautiful. Just when I need a new brown ink shade for my new Monterverde Ritma Espresso. Thanks. ❤😊
Thank you for this video. Very interesting and informative. We’ve been into pens for about the same amount of time.
Thanks for watching Debby!

Thank you for sharing your collection of brown inks! If you like shading, Platinum Brown and Coloverse Hubble Zoom are two I enjoy.
Loved this feast of brown inks!
Thanks so much!!
I love brown and purple inks, but in practice, they feather and dry out a lot. Nothing beats the reliability of a good blue ink.

The first brown ink video I've ever seen without a swatch of Diamine Ancient Copper - my absolute favourite
I just messaged a friend yesterday about how crazy it is that I don't own it yet!!
My grail ink.
Diamine Ancient Copper is my favorite ink.
If you have not tried the Graf von Faber-Castell Hazelnut Brown. That is a beautiful, low maintenance ink. Very inexpensive as well.
my preciousss is Ferris Wheel Press Steeped Umber .. I got a sample in the 3 pack (with Oyster Hour and Spruce Country Post) and the sample just vanished .. the full bottle is already lined up for my next shopping spree :)
I love how you are planning your next shopping spree! I can so relate! I love Steeped Umber too! It's such a rich brown!

Try Diamine Honey Burst. It's my caramel of choice. No sheen or glitter, but nice shader.

I've grown to appreciate brown inks and i blame Drew.
It's all Drew's fault, lol!! He's definitely responsible for my Winter Spice purchase.
You’re starting to cost me too much money! First I booked a flight to japan soon after watching your Japan videos (got back 4 weeks ago and loved every second!) and now i have 4 inks and a notebook from this video to buy 🤪
What do you think about using brown for personal letters?
I think it would be beautiful!

I like the idea that they lighten up as they dry! Thank you!
I too love brown inks! ❣️✨ Which one can you not live without?
Oooh, That's like asking which kid is my favorite, lol! Currently loving FWP Oyster Hour and Diamine Saddle brown. What about you?
Have you ever seen the Monteverde Moonstone? It's a very muted brown, and really inexpensive
I'll check it out! Thank you!
