Mentioning pricing is actually super helpful, because we can automatically go "oh, that's within my price range" or "ooh, beautiful, but not for my wallet" lol

When people don’t mention prices I assume it’s because it can vary - the shop, sales and discounts … let alone pre-loved, limited edition and so on. It’s not gatekeeping: everyone needs to do their homework and I honestly feel that’s part of the quest 😉 Love Bob Slate 💫 TFS

So, what I found out, through searching for a sailor pro gear slim mini, was the old and new series you mentioned. I found out the older series has the screw on post. The newer series has just the normal post. I got my pro gear slim mini in zyne pink! AND. I found a vintage pilot elite for $50. It’s a pearl white on the outside, and a bright pink surprise inside! Writes like a dream.

I have the Pilot Elite pen also and have it inked up all the time. I just love how it looks and how it writes

I love the traveler's company fountain pen. The cap posts similar to the E95S, and it's a sturdy brass. The clip is removable so it makes it even easier to throw into my Passport TN wallet. It also has a little hole for a string, its just so utilitarian I love it.

Me too! It writes so smoothly and I have never had it dry out or misbehave in any way. It's weight and balance are lovely to write with. I love how forgiving and tough it is too.

Both Platinum and Sailor made E95s sized pens in the 70s. They sometimes show up on the used market.

Love that beige/cream kaweko. Also, that baby MB... Oh my! I don't even like MB, but that one is an exception.
Prices can change over time, not to mention grey market vs approved sellers, so I don't see the use of mentioning prices. Easy enough to look up from sources one is comfortable with.

Thank you for your message. Sometimes I'm comfortable talking about prices, other times not so much. Like you said it's easy and quick to look things up online. And the MB baby continues to be one of my faves. It travels really well too. Thanks for watching! xo

Lori, if you ever run out of MB Poppy Corn Red, try a sample of Diamine Poppy Red as an alternative. I recall Penultimate Dave did an ink comparison and it is a good match. It also comes in small international cartridges for your Bebe.

I love, love, love my Kaweco Dia 2 so I'm pleased to hear about your collection review - very helpful. This year's pen goal is my first gold nib, so took good notes. Thank you. Enjoy you so much!

I find that the small ink capacity is good for me, so I can switch around my inked up pens often! 😂
Of course the larger pens are typically the ones I keep inked all of the time.
    That Montblanc is so cute!

Look at cases for pocket knives. The are available in a case-like configuration or a roll type, and many materials.

I also had a sudden interest in pocket pens in 2023! Don’t know why. I purchased a cute little stipula piccolo (I think that’s what it’s called) demonstrator with a F nib at Atlas Stationer’s sidewalk sale from the Stipula vendor. Totally enjoyed it and it traveled with me to Malaysia in November. I also had gotten the Benu Minima at the sidewalk sale and it was not on my radar at all! Anyway, thanks for sharing your stash. Keep it coming- channel rocks.

    1. Sounds like you never eyedrop? I sometimes do, when capacity is an issue, which is rare for me.
    2. That MB Baby is a real winner.
    3. My favorite pocket pen is the Pilot Petit1. Recently out of production, unfortunately.

I recently bought my first TWISBI in the blue and bronze finish with medium nib and was so delighted with how beautifully it writes. Notice I said my first TWISBI; I knew the moment I started writing with it that there would be more! I now think my next one will the the Mini with a special finish, loving the rose gold accents. I love your channel and I am sure it is going to cost me more money on pens. I was already eyeing the Pilot E95S two tone vintage inspired one you got for $50.00; now I think I will be purchasing one from Goulet, my favorite fountain pen retailer. You mentioned that you thought it had a masculine energy to you but I thought it was so much a feminine looking pen at least in my favorite color like you have. Time will tell if I do order it some time soon. I hope to some day run across a Senator FP like you mentioned. I have never been to a pen show and I live only a few hours from San Francisco so maybe some day I will grab a friend and dive into that part of the Fountain Pen Journey. It would kill me to go and not be able to buy a few quality pens so I guess I'd better start a fountain pen piggy bank for the occasion if I'm serious. I don't have a close friend who is into FP but I did meet a lady at a nearby garage sale that has sold me two FP pens and I think I will ask her if she would be interested in going so I would have someone interested in pens to go with me.

I have Kaweco Sports in both plastic and aluminum, but the Kaweco I like most is a full-size Kaweco Dia2. It is a classic retro design, full-size. I spent extra money go get a gold nib for it. I share many of the brands that you own, and think you have made excellent choices. I was inspired just now to order a TWSBI mini just like yours, but with a stub nib.

Thank you for posting this. My entire collection is made of pocket pens (outside of a lonesome Pilot Kakuno, reason being I have very small hands and long pens stick so far even without posting that it makes me uncomfortable to write with) and I always look for nice videos about the pocket pens. They don't receive as much love it seems. Recently I got a "surprise love" for me, which is Opus 88 Mini Pocket (I think that's the full name). It's a lovely one. A bit girthy, yet still small, it's weirdly comfortable to hold, just snuggly fits into my hands. I usually go for thinner pens, but this one is my new favourite. Soon my collection of those might look like your Kaweco Sport case :)
Love the Montblanc Baby, it's one I've looked into many times, but I get frozen in place by the price. So far way out of my budget. But it's sooo lovely!

Most of my collection are pocket pens. I have kawecos, Twsbi minis, pro gear slim and Benu minima. If you like the twsbi mini and pro gear slim size then you will probably like the pilot prera. Great pens I have one with a standard nib and one with a CM nib which I love, very juicy and so affordable.

I‘m a great Pocket Pan Fan. As I live in Nürnberg, where Kaweco is located, I‘m really near to the Paradise 😇 … So, at all, I have 3 Plastic Sports and 2 AL Sports. Two more are on my list 😀 … I carry them around in my backpack and in my Jeans … they never get lost 😉. I love each of them. But at home, I also enjoy the big Brother, the Kaweco Student. LG, Anne

Please don't take this the wrong way, but why would you want to get a custom grind on a nib you already love? I've had custom grinds done to a few of my pens but it was because I didn't like the nib the way it was before getting it ground.
This was a great video; very informative. I don't like pocket pens (too small for my hands) but was considering the twsbi mini in grape as I watched this 😂

Hi Lori. I have that Senator pen as well. Mine is a kind of scarlet red colour. It's a good pen. I wonder if you've tried the Benu Briolette? That is quite a small pen. I enjoy my Kaweco Sport Classic and I have a number of Kaweco-esque copies made by a Chinese brand called Delike. One of my favourite mini pens is a wonderful vintage Platinum pocket pen. It writes beautifully, has a gold nib and feels so nice in the hand.

I just had to cringe when I saw at 22:53 into the video, where you were twisting the section on the Esterbrook J. From what I understand the sections were shellacked to keep them from coming apart or twisting the sac inside which could be bad for the pens operation. I'm not certain that those who repair them take the step to shellec the section in place once they are done. I have several J's and one of them was working up until I went to refill it for the second time. So, I took it apart and found a broken J-bar which I replaced, and the sac was still new. That pen I gifted to my oldest son with an extra nib. Pocket pens, I have a couple of vintage Sailors, Platinum, and Pilot Elites. They are some of my best writing pens!!
