    I always loved the CLK GTR and the LM. For me is even more special because I'm brazilian and Ricardo Zonta became FIA GT world champion alongside Klaus Ludwig driving the CLK LM in 98. The #2 car will always be iconic.

    Let’s focus on the fact that the gran turismo series didn’t feature a proper interior view for this car until gt7 which is outrageous. Because the Forza series and other competitors have implemented cockpit views for all of their cars way earlier.

    • @RandomCarGuy17
      @RandomCarGuy17  Месяц назад +1

      It didn't have one because it was one of the 800 or so standard/simplified cars in GT5 & 6, it was a literal port of the same model from Gran Turismo 4. Simply put, Polyphony Digital took too long to make their detail, premium cars. Either they could just make due with the 250-300 cars they made for GT5 (later around 400 in GT6), or they tried porting these as a way to compensate. PD went with the latter and this is what we got since making full-on interiors for that many cars wouldn't have been possible. And yes, it became a common complaint for a lot of people in the GT community during its development and it was imo not their best decision for ruining the consistency.
      With that said, there's no point in focusing on it now as the damage was already done.

      @@RandomCarGuy17 hey $on¥ employee!
      GT6 had basically the exact same amount of cars that had an interior view just like GT5. Maybe with 10 - 20 additions nothing more, GT5 didn’t have 250 -300 high detail cars but around 100 and I think not even that many. The same goes for gt6. I played them both. Stop lying in favour of $on¥.

    There was a go karting place in the Outer Banks that had closed-cockpit karts with hatches on top that I think you had to have a license to drive, either that or you had to be a certain size, and I was neither. I was like 4 going on 5 and this was actually the first time I was grown enough to drive any go kart on my own. But anyway, the enclosed go karts my dad and my uncle got to drive were modeled after CLKs. I can't find any pics online of these karts online, and I thought there was a chance I might've just dreamt it 23 years ago and it became implanted in my memory that way, but I asked my uncle about it, even showing him a diecast for reference, and he remembers it.
    There was also a place we went to a couple of times in Cherokee that had Viper-looking open go karts with real-world sponsor liveries. I remember there being a Tabasco one, which could've just been a NASCAR livery like a lot of those places put on their karts, but the other one I remember was Sprite, and I don't know of any real-world paint schemes that could've been based on. I think it was my local Frankie's Fun Park that had a Rice Krispies Treats #5 kart at one point, which I guess was based on a real Terry Labonte scheme that I only became aware of afterwards, but it still seems like a pretty random, forgotten alternate scheme to choose to put on a go kart.

      @@bungwohlio It was technically never confirmed to be done by them. With that said, if there was an exclusive license deal; I wouldn't put it on the same level as things EA has done as it would've been a temporary exclusive considering that most games at this point can have Toyota as a license again. Just the fact that except of gt7 no other racing game had any toyota cars shows that it was indeed a shady licensing deal just like the one EA had with Porsche. Dude, the LM is not the racing version of the GTR; both models already competed in the same class. The GTR offers both street and racing variants, each with distinct aerodynamics and specifications, yet both are equipped with a V12 engine (6.0 for the GT1, 6.9 for the street). The LM, which succeeded the GTR GT1, was powered by a V8 engine derived from the C9. The CLKs featured in Hot Pursuit 1 and High Stakes were the racing variant of the CLK GTR.

      Late reply (sorry, I got distracted): Right, it depends on which FM you're talking about. For the 2023 game, it was a prize car for a "featured race" that is sadly no longer active. (basically more stupid FOMO practices in Forza).
      If you're talking about the original FM title from 2005, it can be won in the endurance class B Championship in career mode. Though if you don't want to play through the career mode to drive this car, you can use a cheat code to access it. When starting a new game, enter n0sLiW as a name and you're automatically at level 50 when starting the game on that save. Which will allow you to drive the CLK-GTR in arcade mode.
