But it didn’t matter, because just like a lot of his music and movies, the success and popularity overshadowed the controversy. The song was a big success, staying at number 1 on the US Billboard for seven straight weeks! Elvis was INSANELY ahead of his time, and changed popular culture forever :D And he’s still a legend in 2023!

This movie was a top favorite of mine when I was young. It was released on July 9, 1957. The rock and roll really had the older people upset over it. However, the woman who played Peggy Van Alden was Judy Tyler born on October 9, 1932. She died on July 3, 1957 in a Wyoming car accident with he second husband that she had just married on March 31, 1957. This was just a short time after this movie had been completed. She was dead on the scene and her husband died the following morning. She never got to see the movie. Elvis was never able to watch the movie because of her death. It hit him very hard.

True Story: I had a friend who was in the county jail. He and a bunch of his "buddies" called into the radio station the DJ accepted the collect call and they requested this song "Jailhouse Rock" and the DJ did play it for them!
when i was on holiday in the U.S in 1990 , i saw a full colourised version of Jailhouse Rock on Tv ..... only downside with U.S tv is the bloody adverts every couple of minutes .... Never seen the colour version since 1990

It's hard to focus on the overall choreography when you have Elvis Presley amongst all the others. It's like you're focused on him and only him amd don't really pay attention to anyone else in this scene unless you force yourself to.
