I initially backed for 1 $ then forgot about it. Late pledge is open. Now seriously considering it. The core pledge is 63 $, and for only 8 hours or so, that does seem steep. Then again, a movie ticket costs about 10 $ for about 1.5 hrs; plus you can't resell it! Though by that logic, I'd say both are "luxury" purchases. You also get the prequel standalone scenarios, so it's actually more than 8 hours at that price. I really don't need the cosmetics, so I may get the base pledge, or the 99 $ Detective Pledge for the gameplay all in. Thank you for your review, and especially, for not spoiling anything. I don't think I've ever played a board game with a narrative that was "genuinely" strong; maybe I've been unlucky. So your review has helpfully nudged me to giving this game a try. I also think it will be a nice compliment to Final Girl (fantastic game in my opinion); as Final Girl is great for re-playable, highly variable one-off scenarios (mixing and matching), but it doesn't have the carefully thought out narrative that this game has.
I thought I might back this but had concerns around the solo mode as they are sometimes a secondary thought and didn't hear many good things about Destinies solo. Very pleased this video's focus in on solo and I have now backed the campaign at the top level as this looks like something I am going to really enjoy. Thank you for sharing your honest views and what people may like and also may dislike about this, apps in games and maybe reduced playability don't worry me. This went from a 50% back to a 100% back after watching this.
Thanks Mark for the video. I totally agree on Destinies it fell totally flat for me as a solo game and was one of my biggest disappointments of last year, so I was on the fence about this one. But I love the theme and you're opinions have swayed me to give it a go :)
Thanks a lot for this video. Gritty '80s New Orleans detective stuff with a supernatural bent couldn't be more up my street, but I also don't know anyone who'd care enough to play with me - so it's incredibly reassuring to hear how well it works as a solo player. Definitely going to back it, and if it's as good as it sounds, I think I'm going to adore it.
Great review Mark. I really love how you dissect the game and mention all the issues that might come up :) Pfff...now I just have go out and beg in the streets to get the money for it! :D
Yeah I've got destinies and it is a great game. But replay value verse price point doesn't match. Thats why I'm not backing this. I would definetly play someone else's copy haha
I would keep an eye on the campaign as it goes since LDG did outline there would be a free community campaign editor that lets ANYONE develop and upload their custom chapters for you to enjoy by downloading it in the app, using the components from the game in that custom story. They are also going to open this up for destinies too, so you could make your own content or potentially download some great ones from talented community members as they’ll be able to post them for public download!
@@arronthrossell3434 correct! definitely worth keeping an eye on that though. maybe even try playing with it yourself to see how robust the toolset is. because that'll be a massive boon to all of these app-driven LDG games if it has a deep enough system to allow some brilliant people to write scenarios
Thanks for the video, very useful. Although I think you could probably shave off at least 10 minutes from the clip. There's a lot of repetition going on. Still, great information!
You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but I don't really get this take. A movie is £15 for 1.5 hours, a beer is £6, filling a car is £100+. Seems totally in line with the price of life to me.
@@johnberry5296 Not at all! I did check cinema prices and it seems they've fallen hugely since last time i went, but everything else is absolutely average.
Thanks for the different perspective on this one, it's helped me decide this probably isn't a game for me
Thank you and glad my video helped. 👍
Looks totally up my street!
So glad to find the KS, then find your solo review. Many thanks for the thoughtful assessment.

I always convert it to the number of hamburgers I could buy.

Bear in mind this was a prototype so not the final version
Greetings fellow child of 1970! :) Thanks for the great review and insight!

@@grimdarkly yeah I know but only just got launched for destinies. So still unsure if any good.

Wow. 50 plus quid for 8 hours play???
