Faced this potential nightmare, BUT, your first 30 seconds showed me my, hopefully, problem area. The spark generating AA had gone kaput on me, a new AA installed and the sparks have returned. WHEW, thanks sir for the entire video, too. Did I mention, whew?!

Before you do ANY of this....take out the battery, and clean out inner battery area where the -negative battery base sits against spring. I used a Q-tip with alcohol, then a tad of emery paper on one endof a small screwdriver. I put battery back in, and
pressed the button.... *SPARK*SPARK* fixed! I keep my grill covered, and bring it inside in the winter, so it still looks like new after 6 yrs, but still just that tiny bit of corrosion/crud messed things up. Saved me $60 and a lot of time. 🙂

I agree, I had actually put the battery in wrong! Duh, I am the one who took it out in the first place. Please show some grace, I’m a 72 year old female who does all the grilling at my house. I love this grill, mine must be at least 13-14 years old and is still going strong. I’ve replaced the Venturi tubes as well as the burners, but I let a AA battery show me up😮.

I was a little intimidated by this project because I’m not handy and the instructions that came with the new igniter were incomprehensible to me. Your video showed me how to replace the igniter and restore functionality to the grill in just a few minutes. Thank you!

I literally just replaced my switch too and your video helped. I also ran into the same situation with my E310 and one of the knob screws was stripped. However, I didnt need to remove the whole cover at all to replace the button. The instructions that came with the kit made no mention of removing the cover but it does help with lining up the clip to slide into place. Im back up and running!

Hello! Good video here. I just want to mention that I own the Spirit II E210 grill which is very different than the Spirit E-210 grill shown in this video, where the igniter location and wire length are concerned. The Spirit, which this video addresses, has the igniter button and the igniter module on the same side of the grill as each other and requires shorter wire lengths for the igniter button and the igniter itself. The Spirit II has the igniter button located on the left front side of the control panel and the igniter module (which holds the battery) on the right side under the grill box, requiring a longer set of wires for the igniter and the igniter button. Don't make the mistake I did and purchase the igniter kit for the original Spirit grill (like in this video) if you have a Spirit II grill . As of this comment, the Spirit II igniter kit (Part # 67135) is not readily available online anywhere. I've been going back and forth with Weber about this today via email and it's been frustrating to say the least. They kept trying to make me submit photos as if I needed a warranty replacement. It wouldn't be covered under warranty as the battery corroded. I just wanted to purchase the darn thing straight up. After hours of back and forth, the finally sold it to me. Phew!

So, after watching this video, I decided to figure out why my ignitor was not working. It failed a long time ago and I didn't really look at it carefully as to why. When you go to switch out the battery, while the starter is still connected underneath, check that all the leads are connected securely. I thought they were and they were not. I have been lighting my grill with one of those long grill lighters for years. All it took was to push a couple of wires on and put in a new battery...

I haven't used my e-310 in years, so the battery was dead. I got it mixed up with several other propane heaters and such where the battery is behind the button, and I unscrewed the starter button on the front panel. Now I can't get it to spark again (battery replaced). When I took the button apart there was a small metal clip on the end of a plastic push stick. I can't figure out where that goes, or how to get it to stay on when I try to reassemble the button. But it must be needed to make the spark happen. Any ideas?

    • @stookis8954

It took me a minute or two to figure that out. If you reach behind the button, there are two clips that you pinch together and then you slide it out. You'll see small groves where the clips line up to slide it out
