- Prince George didn't ask to one day be king, but if all goes well that's what he'll inevitably be. That's a lot of existential responsibility to entrust to a child, so people around the world wonder when and how his parents broke the news to the tiny future monarch. Fortunately, by all accounts, George's parents have been very sensitive in the way they've introduced George to his responsibilities as future king. Of course, who could understand what this is like for a child more than his father, William, who also felt the weight of the crown long before it was ever truly within reach. This is when Prince George found out he was going to be king.

Actually, for the first time ever, that stupid interview of his makes sense, if what they said here is true.
Harry said to Oprah that William felt trapped in his role, or something like that.
William assumed a responsibility he didn't really want, but I guess he made peace with it, as he looks well-adjusted now.

Many people respect The Queen, we cant forget the love Princess Diana got, and i believe many otheothers will recieve that love and the attention will be diverted back to the monarchy and it will keep going strong

There was no discord between the Royal sisters, because the Royal status has been fact since the beginning- "the edest son/daughter of the ruling monarch. This brings stability and certainty- vital for a nation.
Leave this lovely young man alone and let him be a Child. Thank god he has Good parents to teach him how to go forward.
I agree, responsability will come quickly enough. Now is not the time to impose this on him but just aswer any questions he may have and keep the aswers simple enough. He is still quite young. So i believe that for now, just let him be.

Even though he's only seven, he had to know that he's different. For heaven's sake, his great grandmother is on the currency, she's on posters all over the UK, he's always on TV [there are even cartoons about him], people curtsy and bow to his parents. He probably knew that he was going to be king since he could walk. The only thing is that he doesn't understand are the demands of the job. All children dream of being monarchs, because we all think that the only thing that monarchs do is wear crowns, live in castles, ride around in carriages and give orders. I don't think that his childhood is in any way compromised by knowing who he will be when he grows up. More compromising to his childhood is that he has to always behave beyond that of a normal child He always has to sit still, he can't run around and do silly things, etc... because he is a prince. I'm sure that's drilled in him always.

Not really. The monarch can step back, if he or she want to. That's what happened in Spain, for example. I don't think Prince Charles will make him wait that long, he knows how sad it is waiting for your parent to die to fulfill his destiny.

I’m very sure little George was mature enough to handle the news. This family is as normal as a royal family can be. Down to earth and not snooty. They work at being understated and decent.

He actually has a little Elizabeth in him .. and we know that’s not likely in the world

I teared up when i understood he will not have the freedom to decide what he wants to be..God bless them all.
I hope that he gets a chance to do some jobs that interest him as his father did. William very much enjoyed his years as a helicopter pilot in the army as a search and rescue man and as a medical transport pilot. George would be fortunate to have that sort of experience himself before he gets totally hitched to the "Firm". 👑

William probably wont be king until his sixties. So George will be almost thirty himself by then. If William reigns for thirty years, then George will be close to sixty himself, and probably a grandfather as well. So he will not be a little boy but a mature family man who by then will have had his own career and carved out his own life. The Monarchy we have now is not the Monarchy that HMTQ grew up in. As society changes and develops, the Monarchy changes with it. Its not Disney and not "the Crown". This was where Migrain was mistaken IMO because she thought that it was all about expensive clothes, jewels, and just waving from carriages. Her patronages given by HMTQ never saw her. Harry did not prepare her for the life she was coming into.
What wonderful, grounded parents they are. They are teaching their children important values and behavior. I admire them! Both William and Katherine had excellent upbringing (especially William's mother's efforts to give him "normal" experiences and to be so openly affectionate and caring). Katherine's family raised an outstanding young woman and evidently also provided important warmth and respite for William to spend time in a more normal environment. They all seem to share a lot of love. If Charles had grown up like this he may have been a different person.

I think William & Kate are great parents their children are able to stay children. Like Diana this couple is hand on in raising their children. Not only that but this whole family has all the beauty that the rest of family ' Britain is Blessed to have this couple as their future king & queen. Long live William, Kate & their children.

I too am an expat living in Australia for the last 30+ years but I always still followed the RF, especially our Queen. She is impeccable as you say and has reigned with grace and dignity. Thank goodness Princes William and Harry had Princess Diana keeping them grounded and allowing them to do the things that your average everyday kids get to do. She did her best to try and keep them shielded from paparazzi as much as she could. She adored them and no doubt told them often she loved them and was affectionate with them. I wish she was still here to be able to enjoy all her grand babies.

Yes, they get a lot of diamonds but they have no freedom to choose how to live their lives, what religion they want, which country they live in or what job they can do.

For instance, you were encouraged while in school to think what future job you were suited for. You weren't just forced into a pre-arranged job. You are also free to change your religion if you choose to. Not so the King. You can choose who you would like to marry without the monarch vetting your choice for you. You could migrate to another nation if you saved up the money and your migration application was agreed to by the nation in question. Not so William and his wife. Britain requires them to live in Britain. Your privacy is respected but royals have their every move scrutinized. Imagine if William made a 10pm dash to a chemist to buy some condoms! It would immediately be reported on the TV and Internet.

I actually did learn about my family history in school and didn’t know it until we did some deep family researching. My mother’s side through her mother, helped to establish and expand America. My ancestral grandfather is General George Rogers Clark who they called the Midwest George Washington….his younger brother was even more famous. My ancestral uncle is William Clark of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Much history is written in the books about both men and I’m proud to be part of that lineage.

Also my 6 times great Uncle Will (Willian Clark of Lewis and Clark) adopted his Native American guide’s son and help raised him when she died. Her name is Sacagawea of the Shoshone Nation. People have to also remember that succession only happens due to the death of the previous Monarch probably also has a big weight over it. Except in the rare case of abdication

I think people have been quietly, consistently, and diligently been working at getting people to buy into the idea of dispensing with the British monarchy.

Hey, let's understand something here. Prince George will NOT be FORCED to become KING! If he so chooses, he could RENOUNCE his birthright. If that were to happen, the CROWN would pass to his younger sister, Princess Charlotte. If King Edward VIII(8th) could ABDICATE the THRONE is his day, I'm quite SURE a present-day monarch could too. WHY else do you think the monarchs have MORE than just ONE child(heir)?

What if George wants to be an astronaut or something? I’m sure he could join the Air Force, since most still partake in military service. And it’s possible he could have a career with ESA as Prince, in his 20’s-30’s. But...damn his future seems so limiting. Like what if his passion is in the medical field? Or he wants to be a an architect? Or a professional football player? It just makes me kinda sad for him.

He can follow his father's steps. Prince William joined Royal Air force after graduated from St. Andrew's University in Scotland in 2006. Prince William was a RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot and air ambulance helicopter pilot until he worked as full time working Royal in 2017.
Many royals have walked away and become what they felt was right for them.
As fast as the world is changing, who is to say if royals will be in place in the future.

Since there’s so many safety protocols, would he even be able to have such a high risk career? I know the military service itself could be dangerous but I guess I’m just curious about the limits.
