I just don't understand why people reject this wonderful gospel. I joined the church 41 years ago and saw and felt the truthfulness of it from the get go. They could have asked me to get baptised after the first discussion and I would have agreed. The Spirit was so strong that I simply could not reject it. I have never regretted my decision to follow Jesus Christ and repent and follow him. I know the church is true. Sincerely, Brother Powers

@@BillPowers-qy8bp beautiful personal testimony, but please be mindful that those who don’t wear the temple garment daily are not “rejecting this wonderful gospel.” We all fall short. We all have room to grow and improve. Many young marrieds in my area feel they are strong spiritually and do not need garments to keep them spiritually strong as the prophet teaches. They serve faithfully in their callings, always attend church, and attend the temple with us regularly. Will they get to where they view garments differently? Hopefully. But all I see is the social media inundation of testimonies pushing them further away. Maybe it’s different where you live, but I confess I rather doubt it. I don’t think most posters and commenters intend to push them away…they hope their testimonies will help draw them in. But in reality, the above is what I’m seeing and feel a voice of mindfulness to all of us well-meaning people must speak up to help us do a better job of inviting, rather than pushing away.

I am from Mexico 🇲🇽; I joined the Church in 1975, I was raised ultra Catholic so I went through much tribulation when I joined. Never in a million years did I think my conversion would be for one generation. I have four children; one daughter and three sons. My sons served missions; all are married in the temple. Unfortunately, all of them married spiritually weak people. At least for fifteen years my daughters in law have hated wearing the holy garment. When I carefully mentioned wearing the garment night & day, they (individually) said they wear it as “instructed by the Holy Ghost”, they told/tell me they “are a pain to wear” bc they “don’t go with their clothing style” (yoga clothing all day , mini skirts, etc.). The latest was “fashion is more important to me”. My heart is more than broken, it is smashed into powder. I never thought I would see the day when my sacrifice would be seen as nothing & mean nothing to my posterity. much less did I expect to see my own children reject the Gospel, reject the Savior and Redeemer of the world and say that “religion is a man-made thing” to “make you feel guilt over your own natural desires.” Their words are scripture perfect. It is impossible for me to believe that a wife can have that kind of control & influence on a strong, PH leader.
I am not seeking people to feel sorry for me. That is not important to me. I just don’t want to live another day. I’m tired of people saying, “just love them,” but “don’t admonish them”, totally contrary to the examples in the scriptures. It is a totally different Church than when I joined. Members now believe that free agency trumps the power of God. I refuse to believe that. I believe in a God of miracles. The Book of Mormon IS about a GOD OF MIRACLES. As Pres. Holland said, our problems are not impossible to a God that governs the orbits of planets. BELIEVE THAT GOD IS A GOD OF MIRACLES! BELIEVE HIM!

I took have one some who is not active. He married out of the church and I hope and pray she will join or want to go to church because that is something she did not do growing up. So starting going to church would be a hard thing for her to do. They have one child and a baby on the way and I can see how much the church would help the little ones. I do not think my son will be active again unless she is active in church. My other four are active in the church. It does seem, to me anyway, that the children that are being raised now are different. Satan is running rampant and I can see his influence everywhere. They will believe and do the things they are supposed to do as long as it doesn't interfere with what they want to do. This seems to be the attitude of the new generation. how they see things does not make sense to me nor do I want it to make sense to me. Cause if it made sense to me then that may mean that I'm teetering on the edge of inactivity in the church also. I raised all my kids the same way and yet I have one whose views are different. I could see it when he was younger and I warned him several times and tried to steer him in the straight way. But still he has his free agency to do what he wants. So he is not active. You are not alone in feeling the way you do.

I am not a first generation member, but like you, I might be the end of the line for the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my family. I have a 100% fail rate when it comes to raising a generation that will prepare for the return of The Bridegroom. However, I am blessed with the Dispensation of the Gospel of Abraham- many will be blessed through my family and they will make covenants with God. The future generations are blessed because of our choices. Trust God to keep His promises.
I weep when I read the division between the sons of Lehi; it is so real in my life.
Stay faithful! LOVE and enjoy your time with your children. If you lose the love you lose everything.
You probably know all that I have said - I’m really giving advice to myself. Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share about a topic that is breaking many hearts.

What an honor and privilege we have been given to put on Christ every day. There are so many great promises and blessings associated with that privilege and we should be willing to sacrifice whatever discomfort or inconvenience that the garment may seem to cause to some. The reward in the end will be well worth it.

I have read these conference talks several times, and yet I love the power of listening to your voice read it!
Sister Dennis’s talk in conference helped us understand how very precious the holy garment is.
As I see some who are wearing their garments so casually, I realize how critical it is that we are in the Lord’s house so that we “remember” the protection and blessing it is wear it.

So much yes! That has become one of my favorite talks. I loved it the first time and love it more every time I reread or rewatch it. There is so much depth there. I love to wear the holy garment. It's a blessing and a privilege. It's also absolutely heartbreaking to me too see and know so many who have left their covenants by the wayside. Several weeks ago at the temple, a sister asked me if it gets kind of monotonous to say the same things over and over (we were in initiatory). It doesn't actually. It gives me more opportunity to really think about their significance and how important they are, and the blessings and promises that we can *choose*! I love that he said that we can choose to be chosen! We all can!!

Kaitlyn, your insight, study and testimony of Gospel subjects brings thought and consideration of my own held beliefs. Remember that Jewish leaders considered those that followed Christ were cultist. The naysayers of today are no different. It is easy to bring down someone else's beliefs with ignorant and bigoted views. Lehi saw this in his vision of those in the great and spacious building, they mocked those on the straight and narrow path of righteousness (see 1Nephi 8:27). You are on the right path Kaitlyn, KEEP GOING sister!

The crazy thing is it has kind of been a theme in my life. Not been a big leader in the church. Now I don’t mind. My kids are grown. The garment is literally a protection. In multiple ways!!!❤❤❤❤❤

Hello Kaitlyn! May I strongly suggest to you and to others, who want to learn about the wedding feast a book titled “Beloved Bridegroom” by Donna B. Nielsen ! It goes into detail about the ancient Galilean Wedding. It is Facinating! It tells about the custom of changing the robe from the left shoulder to the right shoulder after you had been invited to the wedding feast, so the person would not get two wedding invitations by mistake! Think about the changes in the temple ceremony a few years ago! Wink! Wink!. Also, another FABULOUS source that I dearly love, that is not an LDS publication but FULL of knowledge is a DVD Video you can find is “Before The Wrath” . I promise that you will not be disappointed! Could this also be compared to even active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where we see even members of the church that prioritize their own desires above seeking after the greater gifts that are available for ALL who will come...It doesn't matter if you are black or white, male or female, all are invited to come. It then becomes more important when you think of this to pay attention to our own thoughts, and actions to make sure we are worthy of the sacred gift we have been bestowed with.

The endowment session has changed a lot in 25 or so years. I am a convert. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ first, LDS second. I honestly never felt Jesus with me in the early years, but over time. I actually felt i was covenanting witb the church not Jesus and fear if I don't obey. Nonetheless, I'm still a member and do wear garments at all times. I pray this church does indeed honor Jesus Christ first. Im not a solid believer of Joseph Smith and i have studied ALL of his history, not just what we are taught. But here I am. I know several faithful young people who love the gospel and the Savior. They don’t wear their temple garments. We need to remember we have been given agency and be careful not to judge those who don’t opt to wear them as less faithful or less close to the Lord. I’m old. I’ve known many a member who have always worn them but are not close to the Lord and have done terrible things in their homes. Please, let’s stop judging. @@ciel1271 my dear, that’s simply not true. All good people of all faiths will be invited to the wedding feast. We know that all religions will still exist in the early part of the millennium so these good people will be caught up when the Savior comes. Elder Neal A. Maxwell spoke about this in GC as well as in some of his books. I’m old. I’ve worn my every day since I was married-in my day you were endowed the day you were married. However, I see these young marrieds not wearing them but serving faithfully in their callings and be missionaries to others at their places of employment or among their neighbors. I see them attending the temple regularly. Social media is inundated with testimonies of the importance of heeding the prophets’ counsel to wear them daily and in my area, as well as with my extended family and friends all over the US who are young and not wearing them, this social media inundation is pushing them further away from wanting to rethink their value. On top of it, they see many judgmental comments, some of which are inaccurate, and it only grows a larger wound. IMHO, social media is doing much more harm than good, like it has since it was created.

    • @ggrace1133

@@natandjoec not so. If testifying is pushing young, faithful members further away, we must do better as we testify. The prophets have spoken. Let these young marrieds come to the table on this issue as they’re ready. It’s not so much the post that causes harm…it’s the commentors. Read the comment section. Many are saying negative things and making assumptions that are judgmental and alienating. We need to testify AND COMMENT in a spirit of inviting and warmth, understanding, and compassion. In my area, I see far more harm being done on social media regarding this subject than good. Please hear my voice and testimony on this too. I’m old and worn mine every day since I was married.
