    It looks like the machine will accept standard industrial presser feet and attachments; that's a good thing. I also like that Janome still makes at least one machine with a side-loading bobbin, steel bobbin case, and steel bobbins. The big negative though, is that the price point is way more than a standard industrial machine. Why did Janome have to set such a high price point? A direct drive industrial machine will stitch up to 5000 spi. for much less $$.

    It's a monster of a machine. I have not seen anyone actually doing professional work with it, only unboxing, and small tests. The HD9 is a race horse of a machine, and I'm sure many would like to see it in action on long runs. There are two 'P' machines that interest me in the Janome, and one overlocker. I wonder though if they have a Janome sewing table template for the HD9 yet?

    Just unboxed mine today. As you say, it is an excellent sturdy machine. The only thing I would say is that I find the bobbin case tricky to access to change the bobbin. Fine if you have small fingers but it took me a while.

    Thanks for great videos - I have other machines with all the bells and whistles so this is the first machine where I have to consider tension and it is a bit daunting. I am in the UK and am using gutermann extra strong and denim thread and found that I have to loosen the bobbin screw a little when using it in the bobbin yet it seems that you didn't need to do anything when using your heavy thread.

    • @bluecallapatterns
      @bluecallapatterns  4 года назад +1

      Geri Edwards I had to adjust bobbin tension a tiny bit and the heavy thread guide a bit to get the correct tension. It did take me a while but now it’s almost always perfect. I mainly use Tex 75 upholstery weight thread now.

      @@bluecallapatterns thank you for your reply - made me feel better about fiddling with settings. I have the roller foot and am looking forward to seeing how you use it. Stay safe x

    Now that you have used your machine for quite awhile what is your feedback on it? You mentioned doing a more indepth review on it but have not seen one.

    What weight is Tex 45thread? I’m trying to thread my new janome HD9BE machine and it’s not stitching right?
    Do you have a video on actually threading it?

    Hi, love both of these videos about this machine which I’m interested in buying, I would love to see the leather kit and your thoughts about it. Thank you 😊

    • @bluecallapatterns
      @bluecallapatterns  4 года назад +3

      The leather kit includes a roller foot, an ultra glide foot (teflon foot) and some needles and the zipper foot. I don't really use the roller foot only because I haven't felt the need to use it yet. I do use the ultra glide foot when sewing vinyl or leather.

    I’d love someone to show some free motion stitching with this model! 🙏 I’ve been on the fence about buying this since it’s launch. I’m unable to check it out in person due to being completely housebound, though I owned the 1600pqc so no doubt it’s exactly the same except for the larger bobbin and thicker thread capability? I’d still love to see it free motion quilting and/or stitching a raw edge applique etc.!

      @bluecallapatterns  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately, I am really not a quilter so I wouldn't be able to demo free motion quilting.

    • @StephaniesStitches

      This one has the thicker thread capacity and LED lights that don't get hot like the 1600. Otherwise...just about the same machine.

    where did you find xtra bobbins to buy from? I would like to use the internet/Amazon if possible, but not sure which brand/store to buy from, I JUST got my HD today, very excited.

      Tina Fisher I get the extra bobbins from my local Janome dealer. They are called M class bobbins I believe.

    Hi
    Could you tell me the distance from the needle to the machine? I have a few of your patterns 👍 would I be able to sew the dogswood bag entirely with this machine? My current machine doesn’t handle layers, and I feel an industrial may be the way to go. But would prefer something portable

    • @bluecallapatterns
      @bluecallapatterns  3 года назад +1

      Ali M you should be able to sew any of my patterns with this machine. I actually made the cover photo dogwood entirely on a much smaller machine - the Janome Sewist 625e and this machine is much more powerful. The key is to really learn how to use the machine, the right kind of needle, etc. I’m not sure what you mean by the distance from the needle to the machine. Do you mean the height? If yes, I would recommend looking up my blog post on this machine on the Janome life blog. www.google.ca/amp/s/janomelife.wordpress.com/2019/12/02/sewing-bags-with-the-janome-hd9-professional/amp/

      Blue Calla Patterns thank you so much. I have a singer HD 4223 and really struggle to get through layers. Impossible really. I was interested in the space from the needle to the body of the machine on the right of the needle. I had to topstitch a gusset with an attached front/ back and I found on my machine was really narrow to get the bag through the gap. If that makes sense, my topstiching was really uneven as there wasn’t the room to manoeuvre.

    • @bluecallapatterns
      @bluecallapatterns  3 года назад +1

      Ali M now I understand! I believe it’s called throat space and it’s very large on this machine.

      @@bluecallapatterns hi Celine, which Janome dealer did you buy your machine from? I want to buy one and am looking for a local dealer in Toronto area, I live in Richmond Hill. A great price would be a bonus as I am a hobby sewer and don’t sell bags as a business. Thx for your videos, they helped me decide which machine to get.

    Please, why buy this expensive machine if you could buy an electronic, programable industrial machine like Jack A5 with the same value?
