"We wrote - EVOLVE - about humanity's dangerous obsession with evolving... and how sometimes that evolution leads us to slowly leave our humanity behind. Is this dehumanizing evolution right or wrong?" The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and... It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing. Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group last fall. We are all patiently awaiting their 3rd album release. The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history. Amazing they are 21, 19 and 16 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies. The drummer Pau writes around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many. I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. They were asked to be part of Metallica's new "Blacklist" album celebrating the 30th anniversary of their "Black" album. I first discovered The Warning back in mid 2015 and have not missed a single day for over six years in which I have listened to or watched a video of these amazing young sisters. In my almost 62 years of life I have never been so into a band as I am these young ladies. I have been saying for many years now that they would one day be known world wide and be recognized as one of, if not the greatest power trio of all time. As you see here, they are well on their way to bringing that prediction to fruition. It has been a joyous ride watching them “evolve” from three very young girls doing covers on RUclips to the full on rock stars we now see exploding on the world music scene. With the release of not just this song “Evolve” but “Choke” and their most recent release “Martirio” as singles, from their soon to be released EP ‘Mayday’ from which they come, these sisters have not just opened up doors of unlimited opportunity, but kicked them down! I believe they will absolutely sell out ANY venue they chose to perform, including major arenas and stadiums. It is also worth noting that the sisters have stated on their Patreon page that they do not consider Evolve to be the best nor their favorite of the album. Matter of fact, they rate this one as only the 10th out of 12 songs on the entire album…..let that sink in as you listen to it. LONG LIVE THE VILLARREAL SISTERS aka THE WARNING!
