most of the plants die back. i tend to keep it heated above 10 degrees so the canadian pondweed doesn't die. i don't cover it. I havn't had much trouble with herons though.
Not yet but i do have clay like soil so the water does tend to sit on top of grass when it rains heavy in winter. May reduce life expectancy. I built both ponds by laying sleepers on sand. You should really do a concrete base for sleepers and sit them on top and try and have it slightly higher than soil level so they don't sit in water. I'm gonna be moving in a few years and gonna be taking them down so didn't want to have to dig a load of concrete up. Gonna rent place out and most people don't want 2 ponds in their garden, lol
Love this pond
Wonderful pond and wonderful video!
Thanks for watching
Healthy beautiful pond. It might be the type I build very soon. I wish the narration had been in English.
Mine was narrated in english
@@megmills4798 Yes it was. I was joking. I'm sorry.
I love the pond. Do you put some kind of cover over it during winter to protect the plants and fish?

Nice vid. Might make one like this next summer. Have you had any trouble with the sleepers on the ground starting to rot?

@@alexisthisreal5488 yeah there's two types of people in this world. Those who don't want a pond, and those who can't get enough ponds.
