I'm both Ham and GMRS licensed. One thing I appreciate about GMRS is that the whole family can operate off one license. If you are lucky enough to have a good GMRS repeater in your area it can be a good thing for families. Some jerk tying up the repeater may just keep someone's kid or spouse out at night with phone issues from being able to contact someone when needed. Yeah, someone deliberately interfering with legitimate repeater operation or proper use of airwaves on any band should be reported.

As a ham, CB`er and GMRS op agreed the family being able to talk under one lic is the only thing that GMRS is good for to me. its nothing special that my CB or ham stuff wont do and really UHF very limited i dont have allot of gmrs rep here and some even have a charge to use it well thats stupid and i wont be paying to use a repeater. but this is the wrong place to go there.. 73 all.

I have two gmrs repeaters on the air. Fortunately I have not experienced interference on either. But my Elmer has a gmrs repeater just south of me and he fights interference all the time. Including someone that only causes interference when he is on his repeater. I am forwarding him this video. Until recently, we just assumed the FCC wouldn’t do anything so it would be a waist of time. But now I believe we both should report the interference. Thanks for the video.

Now that I got a chance to watch the video (life happens, was busy), there are multiple people in the area doing the same stuff on both GMRS and ham repeaters in the area. They've been doing it for months, if not years. It went from annoying to beyond infuriating.
The guy in the article (don't want to name names) did get on a vhf net a few days after getting pinched, and gave a sobbing apology to the club.
I also heard from a little bird, that linked GMRS repeaters and digital mode stuff (with maybe an exception for gps/aprs) are about to become a huge no-no because that isn't consistent with the intended use of GMRS.

From time to time there have been a few peskies on ham radio frequencies. GMRS seems to be more casual radio users. It would be good for GMRS users to at least go over the fcc guidelines and also understand there is an etiquette standard on using radios. The radios will be necessary during emergency situations. So respect the radio family. One day they may be your lifeline.

My opinion is that if they require a test, then they need to open up the frequency from 461.75-468.99 all frequencies within, allow some sort of text messaging system using a android or apple interface, fm, am, and ssb. I also think at that point 90 watts of power should be able to be used on the high power channels. I mean come on, if they are going to test for the radio license, let us really get use from it. I know , I know, why not ham? Because Ham doesn't seem to have the casual dress code that GMRS has. But if they going to test for it, might as well open it up and allow some of that ham like use.

All you need is an sdr with a waterfall display, a driectionsl antenna and a step attenuator. Once you find the perp, a good set of cable cutters right through the coax, removing a 2-3 ft section right in the middle will solve the problem.

As both a licensed Ham and GMRS'er if I set up a repeater and somebody started to mess with it, of course I would report it! Now, if I got his call sign and his personal info from the FCC Data Base, like we used to say on CB in NYC in the 1980s "I'd send a Squelch Squad to their house and ________.!" Back then We'll give them a scare and take away or wreck their radios. If we can - a small needle into the coax to short out the cable core with its shielding... We were damn devious. But this is the 2020, and such games are no longer allowed, so yes, I'd report them and keep reporting them everyday until its radio silence from their end.
In fact - This past summer I had to report some idiots on MURS because they were using Ham Equipment on MURS pushing 200+ Watts when MURS only allows 1/2 watt. Furthermore two were over modulating their signals so badly, they were causing TVI.And on top of that, one of them said that a certain Ham Operator (me) was causing them trouble in the air and threatened to come to my place to "Do Me In." Since I was recording their convos, I sent a copy of this threat to the police and to the FCC, With some help with some fellow Hams in NYC, we tracked them down and submitted their location info to the FCC and the police. All this SHI*T started around the end of May. It was Radio Silence by July. In truth I do not know who made the move against them - the NYPD or the FCC, but they were shut down and have not been heard off since.
But the problem here in NYC, there are many operating Ham and GMRS Radio equipment without a license, so unless you fox hunt their tails, without a call sign to find them, it is harder to get them.

There's an individual on a local 2m repeater here in Tennessee that intentionally causes harmful interference. I'd like to know how to get the ball rolling on getting the FCC to do some sort of investigation.
It's annoying that someone will waste time and energy because they have nothing better to do than to harmfully cause interference on a repeater. Honestly, if an individual is caught doing such actions, the FCC should just revoke the individual's license and confiscate their radio equipment.

The repeater in question was jamming another repeater in our area. You could not scan with your radio because it would halt on the channel/frequency of the "malfunctioning" repeater. It went on for three weeks to a month, and the transmissions sounded like telemetry data was being sent in bursts (and data other than position reporting is not allowed). One would think, as a repeater owner, that you would check in on the repeater that you are owning and operating on occasion to insure it is not "malfunctioning". It is a shame, as the offending repeater was at a location that would really reach out ("more fars" - Not A Rubicon) and the operator was planning on linking two others with that repeater.

If you are the repeater owner and you are getting interference from a user on that repeater. you can ask them to stop and if they do not then you have to alert the FCC as to what is going on so they then can send an NAL to them to stop the activity. if they persist in causing harmful interference then the FCC will take action to it to resolve it. It is up to the users to let the owner of the repeater know if it is getting interference when and for how long. also if you can make recordings of it makes it go faster thru the process. Do not encourage the person causing the interference or keep talking about it as it does nothing to stop it. This works if all involved weither Amateur radio operator or GMRS operators.

A local "repeater association" has reported an issue t the FCC for hunters on the local repeater system. And I am pretty sure they are NON LICENSED Baofeng users and are hunters as it appears to be a problem regularly most years.
