    When these electrical connectors get old, they are very hard to remove and the wires get broken during the fight. This is one area that I have learned the hard way, to be very gentle and not force anything. For this particular type of plug, I usually use a very thin, small flat-blade screwdriver to insert into the gap and twist while pushing the tab.
    It doesn't always work, but definitely worth a try.

    4 years ago my 04 tribute lx threw a po403 code. I threw parts on it to fix it with no success. After seeing your video, decided to check the wiring to the EGR controller. The purple wire did not connect with the controller, then cut the connector of and soldered new pigtails on this and re-connected back to the harness. The MIL did not come back on and checked with my obd2 reader and no codes showed. After 4 years of MIL on, no more. My Mechanic would not tell me about this, my bro in law who owned a repair shop would not tell me about this, only this one video on youtube show this. Of course, I always disconnected the battery before performing this procedure, not wanting to fry the ECU. Thanks for sharing this tip.

    I remember a line from Forest Gump " You are a G__D D___M F Genius" They should make you a senior technical advisor at Ford. I was going to start at a leaky exhaust manifold and work my way up.. I bought the part from your link. I hope you got a big commission. I would have never thought of that in a million years with a recent EM gasket leak. I have friends who are ferrarri and mazarati techs and they never thought of it. The thing that sold me on your idea was that I would reset the code. I would start it cold and the code came right back. I would start it hot and the code came right back. Had to be electrical. Good Job.

      I appreciate your comment and very happy to hear that the video was helpful to you. Also thank you very much for ordering through the link. The commission's are small but it adds up to something at the end of the month. Thank you

    Thanks - my 2003 Mazda tribute had same exact problem. Unfortunately I replaced every electronic sensor in the EGR system - I wish I found your video first! Then I test drove, parked and I believe my fuel pump stopped working......

    This video is correct.. I had to find out the hard way.. my control wire was broken inside the insulator.. everything looked fine but the voltage wouldn't make it to the PCM.. cut your time in half and check the continuity..

    Great video! Thanks for the link to Amazon, which has the part described (although their 'part matcher' says that it does not fit my 2004 Tribute, comments in the review section say it does ;-} ) I probably would not have suspected or even known to suspect this wire/connector without this video. Kudos!

    04 tribute v6 & I just need to vent. I’ve been to every shop in town & none will touch my rig because there’s no check engine light & no stored codes? How’d they used to do it?! So the engine surges, the car makes a whistley/whining noise in motion & my MPGs as well as overall power are suckin 👎🏼 I’m frustrated. Great video, thanks. I’m goin for it.

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  4 года назад

      That's crazy. Surprised to hear so many shops would turn down a car that has issues like that. Engine light or not. But yeah, armed with RUclips and online forums you should be able to figure out what the issue is.

      I should’ve quantified. Podunk deliverance-ville here has 5 but I refuse to approach one. So 4. Every shop in town = 4. Also noteworthy, there’s one dealership but nahh. Still only 4 to me. Thanks & I’ll lyk.

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow
      @NoNonsenseKnowHow  4 года назад +1

      No problem buddy. I would think it should disappear within a week. Or you could just disconnect the negative terminal from your battery for 15 seconds and that will also clear the light most of the time. Or investing in a cheap OBD2 code reader is also a good move

    Once you cut the old pigtail connector and will install the new one is there a specific way that the cables need to be arranged ? Since there’s 2 does it matter which cable it soldered on to ? Thanks in advance .

    • @NoNonsenseKnowHow

      I suppose technically it doesn't matter because it's just a solenoid, but I would put them on in the same orientation at the old one was

    I have an 08 Ford Explorer XLT 4.0 and is throwing Codes P0403, P0443, P0155, P0135 and so on. Shows all Four O2 sensors are bad. I get some rough idle at times and kinda comes and goes.
    I have replaced the Purge Valve and EGR valve and about to change all Four O2 sensors but even after changing EGR and Purge valve, it is still throwing codes for those 2 parts.
    I have also noticed that trip ometer and fuel milage resets on its own to zero.
    So I feeling like I have jumped down a rabbits hole swapping out parts.
    Any idea on what to look for ?
