pretty much blind, he sees by faith not by sight. with that he only ever reacts to sounds of others, he also does a click every so often for echo location
When I first watched this movie, I was shocked. I didn't understand the context before I started watching and it was the first of this type of movie I saw. The scene with the old people kept me up at night for a few days. Whenever I hear the song "Ring My Bell" it reminds me of it (and also Mila Kunis smiling like it's the first she's ever heard music, which is nice).... then the old man says "I think we have a little meat somewhere" and pulls out the human sandwiches...
“Every billet barely grazing him as if the power of faith is protecting him.” I just assumed it was because he was the protagonist and they rarely get shot.
I dont remember from where i learned this, but someone said to me that eli was blind. Which was quite a surprise to me with all the things he did in the movie.
When you watch this movie twice you start to see it differently, like hpw eli new how the elderly lady was a cannibal was because her hand was shaking because of the rapid clinking of the cup she was holding.
There are so many moments like this that are super subtle and you don't notice them until you watch a second time. He doesn't shoot the cat until it meows. He doesn't acknowledge the hanging man's boots until he feels them. He backs up into the darkness under the overpass to put his attackers at a disadvantage. He kicks the front step with his boot without looking, so he knows where it is (Solara on the other hand, looks down at it).
10/10 Beautiful and dynamic musical score, flawless world building, A+ fight scenes, PERFECT characters. Great ending and a great message for a great movie Also, The Book Of Eli had SO MUCH wasted potential, that it's astounding to me how people just gave up and forgot it, other than the movie, i haven't seen anything else about this story, which is ridiculous, because this could have become so much more If the creators followed the movie up with prequel or sequel content, it would have become one of the most mainstream movie series of all time for sure, if they made a series about it, it would have rivaled classics like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, if they made comics about it, they would have probably competed with MARVEL comics My idea is 1 prequel movie, 2 sequel movies, and a 2 season series Prequel: it shows what life was like for young Eli, how the apocalypse really happened and showcases his early journey heading west Sequels: the first one shows Solara protecting the town that used to be governed by Carnegie, she keeps the people away from the brink of chaos while setting an example, and in the sequel, Solara dies protecting the people, leaving the legacy of her and Eli's faith to the people of that town to carry on Miniseries: the first season shows the journey Solara took on in order to get back home with her mother, maybe in the way she runs into and finally ends the gang that attacked her and Eli in the first movie, freeing the woman they were using as bait for so long, the second season shows how the people of Alcatraz finally went out to the outside world to spread all the knowledge they had compilated while perhaps showcasing new villains, baiting the audience to more seasons or movies THERE, if they had done something like that with the story, you would have one of the best franchises ever, probably of all time
Kind of insane though that despite them having so many different UNIQUE books they don't have a single BIBLE??? Like go to America and you'll find one in every motel room what the heck lmao
I love the fact that this movie was based off of preserving and preaching the legacy of past western society and how Christianity plays such a great role in the movie
It doesn't matter what religion you do or don't believe in this is a good movie because a man doing all of that just in his own faith is something powerful
So you’re telling me that there are books that maybe had a million copies made survive? But not the damn bible? I swear there’s enough bibles for at least half the population
I love this film. Plus when you realize that he is protected by a higher power the whole time it’s awesome. Not just with the ending. The guy couldn’t shoot him in the town, didn’t die after being shot until he got to where he needed to go as well as being blind and a killing machine lol.
Eli get more and more blind the more he gets to the end of his story, it’s pretty evident he can see just a bit but not a lot but as the story goes on the way he does things changes.

pretty much blind, he sees by faith not by sight. with that he only ever reacts to sounds of others, he also does a click every so often for echo location
@Deep Claymore Anything for faith
He is constantly making eye contact with people so....
This movie takes the phrase
Walk by faith not be sight
To a whole nother level
When I first watched this movie, I was shocked. I didn't understand the context before I started watching and it was the first of this type of movie I saw.
The scene with the old people kept me up at night for a few days. Whenever I hear the song "Ring My Bell" it reminds me of it (and also Mila Kunis smiling like it's the first she's ever heard music, which is nice).... then the old man says "I think we have a little meat somewhere" and pulls out the human sandwiches...
“Every billet barely grazing him as if the power of faith is protecting him.”
I just assumed it was because he was the protagonist and they rarely get shot.
He gets shot
"Eat together and pray, resembling a date"
I dont remember from where i learned this, but someone said to me that eli was blind. Which was quite a surprise to me with all the things he did in the movie.
Eli is able to do those things because his power comes through God helping him.
Dang, should have showed the part after it went to print putting the final product on the shelf.
This movie is literally a fallout character with 10 AGL 10 END and 10 LCK
People fighting over a book is a lot closer to reality as it may seem
10/10
Beautiful and dynamic musical score, flawless world building, A+ fight scenes, PERFECT characters. Great ending and a great message for a great movie
Also, The Book Of Eli had SO MUCH wasted potential, that it's astounding to me how people just gave up and forgot it, other than the movie, i haven't seen anything else about this story, which is ridiculous, because this could have become so much more
If the creators followed the movie up with prequel or sequel content, it would have become one of the most mainstream movie series of all time for sure, if they made a series about it, it would have rivaled classics like The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad, if they made comics about it, they would have probably competed with MARVEL comics
My idea is 1 prequel movie, 2 sequel movies, and a 2 season series
Prequel: it shows what life was like for young Eli, how the apocalypse really happened and showcases his early journey heading west
Sequels: the first one shows Solara protecting the town that used to be governed by Carnegie, she keeps the people away from the brink of chaos while setting an example, and in the sequel, Solara dies protecting the people, leaving the legacy of her and Eli's faith to the people of that town to carry on
Miniseries: the first season shows the journey Solara took on in order to get back home with her mother, maybe in the way she runs into and finally ends the gang that attacked her and Eli in the first movie, freeing the woman they were using as bait for so long, the second season shows how the people of Alcatraz finally went out to the outside world to spread all the knowledge they had compilated while perhaps showcasing new villains, baiting the audience to more seasons or movies
THERE, if they had done something like that with the story, you would have one of the best franchises ever, probably of all time
The fact he was blind was a good twist
I can't believe he was blind the whole entire time this just shows how godly he is 10 out of 10 movie
Walk by Faith not by sight.
Kind of insane though that despite them having so many different UNIQUE books they don't have a single BIBLE??? Like go to America and you'll find one in every motel room what the heck lmao
im pretty sure it was implied that they were destroyed in the movie...
@@LegacyWorkz yet they couldn't save at least one? Like there's millions of copies
3:01 i swear this dude plays an a-hole in every movie he's in.
i remember watching this movie as a child and i could not have explained this better
This is just one of those movies that are already written in history as one of the best movies ever
I love the fact that this movie was based off of preserving and preaching the legacy of past western society and how Christianity plays such a great role in the movie
This is seriously the fastest I’ve seen a RUclips channel grow. Keep it up!
Agree!
Finally, a great Cristian movie
@@rudrakshsharma2832 add up son
@@rudrakshsharma2832 well it seems atheist are calling it that so therfor it is.
Respects for the camera man standing while there shooting
I love he speeds up talking during the shoot-out escene with full sarcasm
This is an amazing movie. The storyline and the plot twists at the end were incredible to watch.
HE HAS THE POWER OF GOD AND ANIME ON HIS SIDE
The Holy Bible is the answer to everything in Jesus name!
Is it also the answer to stop a bullet flying at your head?
@@CharterForGaming as long as you read God's scriptures, then yes. Because in Psalm 91, it said that under His wings He shall make you His refuge
I haven’t seen this movie in so long. I need to rewatch it.
I love, love, love this movie! I watch it 2-3 times a year, and it's the best every time! Top 10 movies for me.
When the movie has an actual reason for the massive amount of plot armor the protagonist has.
This movie the closest thing to a live action fallout movie
so basically this story is about a blind man with the power of god and gun on his side with just a bit of journey to the west
Imagine saying first 😐
Imagine saying second🥱
First
Second
I didn't even realize this is a new video what-
This movie deserves a sequel.
It doesn't matter what religion you do or don't believe in this is a good movie because a man doing all of that just in his own faith is something powerful
This movie just wants us soooooo bad to understand that eli is a badass
you should recap the movie “Pan’s Labyrinth”
now every christian has a bible in their post apocalyptic safe
As a Catholic, I’ve got mine.
One of The best movie ever seen "The Book Of Eli"
this is one of those few movies i lowkey wish i watched instead of watching a recap of it
So you’re telling me that there are books that maybe had a million copies made survive? But not the damn bible? I swear there’s enough bibles for at least half the population
I mean it depends on what version of the Bible eli had
He could have been carrying the closest thing to the original version
Yup....it’s called a fiction movie
It’s hinted at in the movie that all copies of the Bible were burned/destroyed for some reason or another before the bombs fell
To my Christian brothers and sisters everywhere:
Please dont forget to read your Bibles everyday
Plot twist: the printing of the bible sparks a new crusade making the world even more violent.
I love this film. Plus when you realize that he is protected by a higher power the whole time it’s awesome. Not just with the ending. The guy couldn’t shoot him in the town, didn’t die after being shot until he got to where he needed to go as well as being blind and a killing machine lol.
Yep,Eli was being guarded all the time.
Yo! Thanks for the Reminder. Love this old movie back in my days...('
wait is this movie just religious propaganda lol
Yup
No. This movie shows the power of belief in a purpose greater than yourself. Faith binds communities together for a common good and shared values
Such an amazing and slept on movie. Saw this ad a kid and have watched it every year since!
Eli get more and more blind the more he gets to the end of his story, it’s pretty evident he can see just a bit but not a lot but as the story goes on the way he does things changes.
An item that restores mankind, and you have to go west? Sounds like SCP-2000 to me
Honestly at first I didnt like the narrator guy and thought this channel was dumb. But now ive watched every single one of your videos and cant wait for u to upload more. Love u man! Watch out and take care
