- Coming to theaters this summer 2009 from Samuel Goldwyn Films, Blood: The Last Vampire brings to life an English language live-action feature movie of the original Japanese anime feature film from a producer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Hero. Gianna (My Sassy Girl, Daisy) stars in the film as Saya, a 400-year-old demon-hunting vampire slayer working undercover in Japan for a secret organization, on a mission in the Vietnam War era. The cast also includes Koyuki (The Last Samurai, Always: Sunset on Third Street), Michael Byrne (Beyond the Sea, Gangs of New York), Colin Salmon (Resident Evil, Punisher: War Zone, Clubbed), and Allison Miller (Kings). The film features stunt choreographed by Cory Yuen (Transporter 3, Red Cliff), is produced by Bill Kong and Abel Nahmias, with screenplay by Chris Chow.

I’ve been trying to find this movie for years, I love this movie.
It should be noted for future viewers, it's not based on blood plus anime with saya,haji,kai and riku but instead is based on the original blood the last vampire anime movie (2000). But from what I remember it wasn't a faithful adaptation of even that movie. From the original blood the last vampire (2000) came the manga and anime spin offs like blood plus and blood c etc.

No idea why this movie popped into my head after I had rented it from netflix years ago but I'm hoping it got a blu-ray release.

This movie was awful. The anime was great. Keeps getting better as the years pass, but this was terrible. So the guy that directed “Kiss is the dragon” made this and it’s all shot in France. Everyone’s accents are all over the place and the wire stunts looked like it was done by first timers. It goes beat by beat like the anime, but it will have a very dragged out Crouching Tiger, hidden dragon fight. I wanted the movie to end.

It's not very good but for Jun Ji Hyun and some of the cool stuff it's still worth watching. Kind of feels like an early tacky hollywood snatch job on a well known Korean (I guess now they've wrapped all their own in spandex and tossed them down the toilet they need new blood :P) - but very fun

Blood wasn't a series, it's a movie.
The Series was shit, just watch the first episode and then the last, the rest are fillers.
I prefer when I saw Blood-C than BLOOD+. However you have to find the uncensored version for it to be decent. According to someone who knew the full lore, the Blood movie came first, then Blood +, then Blood-C. Although voth series are ideas from the movie using the same lead Saya, the series are alternate universe stories that exist on their own in no timeline to the original
