Pre biker gang Zakk will always be my favorite Zakk. Pride and Glory project was great. I remember Don Jameson on that metal show saying Zakk went from looking like an 18yr old girl to a guy who kidnaps 18yr old girls.
Ok first off. They aren't gangs.
Second I could be wrong but I don't think zakk was ever a full patch in a club. At least not that I've ever heard about.

Agreed! He hasn't put out even a decent album since the blessed hellride. It's all become one big blurry loud guitar riffs with empty soulless leads. It's terrible!
Mafia had some good tracks but yea, overall when he changed to his ozzy voice it wasnt the same anymore. Songs back in the day like berzerkers, bullet inside your head, world of trouble etc...those were the good days

1989 Zakk was funny.
I first saw BLS in Detroit in 1999, not a ton of people but the following album tour, the place was sold out and completely crazy. Always a good gig with Zakk

I've been in that jam room! A few years back I got to play with Phil in a band in our home town. That was Phil's garage that they where in. Hard to think about the mighty Zakk playing in a garage.
Actually the band never rehearsed here in Ohio with Phil, that jam room in this video is in Europe - he's playing on a rented Slingerland kit because taking an entire drumkit overseas is expensive.
Well I stand corrected. I was just going by what Phil had told us when he jammed with our band briefly. Thanks for clarifying things.

god damn, thank you for posting this. I went and seen bls perform sonic brew a few months ago....and it was awesome....but you can't deny he had more energy and put a 1000x more effort into these songs when he first wrote them. not knockin the guy. zakk will always be my favorite. it was just obviously different compared. its weird, vocally he doesn't even sound like the same person. I like his style he's got now, but even as a huge zakk fan, I can admit, I liked him better back in the day
Of course he doesn't sound the same now. Why don't you sing something record it and do the same thing 20 years later and see if they sound different

Agreed, but it seems to happen to the best of them. You either stop making music, or keep doing it long enough to become a parody of yourself. Seems like so many lean into their 'signature' aspects so much that they get lost in that very thing. I also hate seeing Zakk with no Gibsons or Marshalls.

Thanks for this!! I saw them live at a hole in the wall called BIG SHOTS in Sacramento just a few months after this filming. 12 bucks to get in. It was a pool hall with a stage, just just slid all the tables back and let the shit fly!! Them were the days!! Fuck I was only 18. Good times. SONIC BREW FOREVER!!

This is a treat right here. I've been a Zakk Wylde fan since Ozzy man. I was all over Black Label and pride and glory when that stuff came out. Just seen em in lexington ky a month or two ago as well . Zakk still kicking ass man. Love all these songs . Brings back so many memories. I'm 43 so I was pretty young when Black Label started. Thanks for this vid.

Zakk is the most well rounded metal god ever in my opinion he just melts any face you put in front of him. Weather they are into metal, country, pop or rap. People hear Zak's different styles and can tell it's him

Saw them on that tour, too. Crowbar opened in Clifton park ny. There was maybe 30 people in the crowd but it was still a great show.

Sound on the live show at the end goes from distorted stage volume to soundboard and back a few times because full soundboard sources aren't available.

Sonic Brew is one of the greatest albums ever! I just wish it wasn't so overdriven on the original copy.

FUCK!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for posting this....what I really really wish for is a live video to go with the alcohol fueled brewtality live cd... I knows theres a video where zakks playing a small club with his face painted in camo and it sounds liked it could be from that cd but it was only a couple songs
he's had a great career without quite cracking the mainstream on his own.
All of his radio friendly material went to Ozzy.
I saw BLS on the Sonic Brew tour, it was an unscheduled show Zakk did because he was bored and didn't want to hang out at the hotel. I was 14, and the show cost me $1.01 to see.
THIS is Zakk at his best. After his weird “Southern Pride” phase and before his phony biker gang phase. Just straight heavy dark doomy riffs.

@@NFWUGAMeRZonE It's an early version of "Rust" - when he was writing it for a few years, it had more lyrics and was called "Blessing In Disguise" and he ended up using the lyrics on "Rust" but removed a lot of lines and changed the title.

Yeah that's Fred Kowalo. He was James Lomenzo and Chris Broderick's guitar tech, then when Lomenzo was replaced by Ellefson, he was Ellefson's tech....up until a few years ago, the band cleaned house and replaced their entire crew.
