    Got to say it.., take a bow "Brett Marsh Transport no-8' at 6:39..... that is a master class lesson in how its done right..!! perfect gear selected for maximum engine brake effectiveness = perfect road speed so not even a dab on the brakes was required... well done Sir.., total farkin awesomeness right there..!!

    Great post thanks Will sadly in time this windy road will be no more a very tight road even in a car. I drove old Britsh fuel tankers over this road back in the 70s these new trucks just handle this hill so well lots of power, its hsows just how much heavy traffic goes over this bit of the road. However as a motorcyclist loved this road knew whereyou could wind the bike out. Great to see many of our local carriers in this video. Seeing the JD Hickman truck I used to cart fuel further on to Mahoenui where they had a garage and a small fleet of trucks

    Man they sure love twin steer rigs over there! I wonder how the weight laws work in that part of the world. I notice rigs over there have far more axles on the ground then we do here in the states!

    • @te_piriti9220

      +Marc Johnson To do with road license charges based on axle loadings - you will notice the rigid trucks with trailers are twin steer while the tractor units with articulated trailers (like the B train at 7 minutes and low loader at 8 minutes) are single steer.

    A perfect example of why this road needs to be done away with and either an alternate route or tunnel is needed. The road surface is appalling as I'm sure these guys realise. While I love the trucks and the video we need to bring this up to government to change and update their thinking, this kind of road will cost too many lives before long. Thanks for posting enjoyed by all.

    Used to leave Auckland about 9-30pm on a Thursday Heading for Feilding and just after Taupo used to wait for a Truckee going through the Desert road, because of the ground fog. They used to toot as they went past and switch on their Hazzard light , they would turn them off we got out of the fog to let me know it was clear. Great bunch of blokes

    • @Varinki
      @Varinki 8 лет назад +3

      +AndreiTupolev 44,000kg everywhere, 50,000 to 62,000+ on certain routes. In practice most trucks go no higher than 50,000kg as there are few places where they can run over that.
      As for the axles the more they run the less they pay in road tax.
