I can't listen or watch Deja Vu without getting emotional. I think this style of music, the combination of emotion & power, is where Dreamcatcher shines the most. They have several songs in their discography that fit into this category. Deja Vu, Break the Wall, Reason, Bonvoyage, & Fairytale are the ones that come to mind immediately, but there are definitely others. They also have a lot of songs that are ballads that really pull on your emotions.
Yeah and it certainly doesn't help that I just get emotional easily with music especially, there's a list of songs I love that I can't listen to without getting deep in the feels lol. I agree that this style really highlight's Dreamcatcher's strength, loved it!
Deja Vu is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful, fragile ballad that kicks your teeth down your throat in the chorus. It is extra difficult to sort out, because it tells the story from two perspectives. You know how even evil people think they are the good guys? This is reflected here. One perspective is Yoohyeon's, who gets corrupted right in the beginning. She thinks JiU is bad (does not want to share power) and backstabs her and kills, imprisons or banishes the other members so that she can rule alone. The other perspective is reality, where we can see JiU be kind to Yoohyeon, but she gets killed for it. I believe this is a commentary on the different perspectives people can have about the same event. The lyrics seem to hint at an abusive relationship, where there are usually two perspectives as well, and the abuser finds excuses to justify their actions, while the abused find themselves in an endless Deja Vu.
Yeah, on a couple of rewatches since filming this I can totally see that! I didn't catch the switch between JiU and Yoohyeon's roles in the initial watches.
I love Dreamcatcher. Back in the day I worked in record stores when they were still a thing. I only ever became obsessed with a handful of music artists. Dreamcatcher is the only Kpop group I religiously listen to. Since I love most genres of music and Dreamcatcher has practically dabbled in most of them, I have no need to look elsewhere for a music fix. I hope you will appreciate them like I do.

The collaboration with the mobile game King's Raid consisted of the game company giving Dreamcatcher a pile of cash and asking them to make an MV that tied into the game. Yoohyeon, consumed by darkness and envious of Queen Jiu, leads a rebellion that initially fails, but she is shown mercy by Jiu. Yoohyeon then murders Jiu and during her second rebellion all her once close friends are either murdered, imprisoned, or exiled. At the end she is alone, the queen of a ruined land, and she justifies her actions by creating false memories (deja vu are false memories) where she was really the victim. The scenes where the person in the coffin switches between Jiu and Yoohyeon shows her mind slipping into madness. Pretty much where all tyrants end up, alone in a bunker. The King's Raid game spun off an anime series for which Dreamcatcher recorded the song Eclipse, which is one of their Japanese releases.

Right now, Deja Vu still is my favorite Dreamcatcher song. Actually i can't really find one defect in this song. And if you will react to the "Dodging Disbandment and Other Extreme Sports: A History of Dreamcatcher"(one of the greatest video introduce to Dreamcatcher history), you will know this is a very touching era and how grief and indignation at that time.

For the show, i also recommend you listening to their b-sides as well like wind blows, break the wall, sahara, propose, fairytale, reason, black or white, red sun, jazz bar and their solo songs! I think you're ready to go for Rose Blue, Dystopia Trilogy and Apocalypse trilogy too! If you'd like to watch the trilogy all together and put them in one video that's fine too but they're the trilogys that has a powerful message so I think the way you go for watching two times it's perfect! Scream is up next, then I think Rose Blue before Boca was what I had heard from another commenter, but I am also tempted to just go and finish dystopia with Odd Eye and go back to Rose Blue after. I totally agree, it's nice to hear singers using their lower tones. Imo, in K-Pop they overuse the high registers of their singers, they also tend to overuse soprano singers. Déjà Vu is indeed a very special song, for the use of lower tones, the very slow build-up (pushed back 2 or 3 times), the liberating use of guitars in a heavy chorus (Dreamcatcher doing Dreamcatcher stuff), the lack of a rap (or almost, but I can't really call Dami lines a rap), and a gorgeous MV (thanks the budget from the collab). I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's always difficult to meet or surpass expectations.
