I look forward to your daily posts, I love your videos and reviews. They have helped me a lot with purchases. I am your 65th patron, and the Bali travelogue reward is quite wonderful. I love the addition of photos mixed in with the watercolor sketches, and all the travel info and tips in the text is fun reading.
Teoh, thanks so much. It's clear that you have a lot of challenges when filming. I'm so impressed that you have so many videos in just 6 months. You have been so informative and helpful with all of your reviews. Keep em coming😍.
Thanks for sharing. It gives a better understanding of the work you do to provide a good learning platform. I really enjoy it. Best wishes for your continued success!!!!!!
That was another great video! Thanks for answering the question about your night job. Not surprised you're a graphic artist! I just love your videos and am so grateful you make them. Love watching you sketch and watercolor, especially people, crowds, places. And you're art supply video reviews. Thank you Teoh!
This reminds me of a series of blog posts you did about having a website. I really appreaciate how transparent and forthcoming you are about everything you do, whether it is to assure fans they are receiving the most honest information, or just providing help to others who are interested. You are amazing at what you do and it's such a show of character that you have such a strong work ethic outside of your paid work. : )
I appreciate the conscientiousness of your approach. And this channel is so calm and relaxing. No flashy graphics or distracting background music needed! Thanks for your time, Teoh.
You're such a dear. Thank you for all your videos and your authenticity. And thanks for sharing all your videos and a bit about yourself. Cheers from Vancouver, Canada!
Teoh, you are producing very useful videos for me, a beginning watercolorist. I really enjoy watching your tutorials and learning more about how to be a better urban sketcher in Northern Virginia, USA. You have a great teaching style and I hope you continue doing just what you are doing for a long time. (Signed) A grateful viewer
Thank u for your honest reviews and this video explaining in detail how you tube works, I will be buying from your website from now on when I order through Amazon.
Hi Teoh, this provided informative answers to my question on the other video about time management. Thank you. Very interesting to learn what you do for a living and how your day is structured, as well as the behind-the-scenes of filming your vids and the limitations, such as lighting, outside noises, etc. I think you do a terrific job of balancing everything and providing a consistent volume of content. Kudos!
Hello Teoh. I agree about negative reviews on Amazon. Usually there are less of them unless something is really horrible. Reading negative and positive gives more criteria range and I often have different points of view. For instance, I like hotpress more than coldpress and recently a negative review was complaining that a paper was too smooth, so I instantly bought it!
Thank you so much for sharing your love of art, and making fair and informative product reviews. I have come to rely on these to help make purchase decisions, and build my sketching kit. It is too bad you have to deal with internet trolls who want to discredit you. I wish you success and prosperity in all your ventures.
I really admire the amount of work you put in your website, reviews and videos. They are always very honest and informative. When I want to try a new art product, I always check your website first. Thank you!
Hey, I'm glad you made this video. I've wondered what you did but never asked because it wouldn't matter what you did (within reason lol). I'd still watch because your content and demeanor is to me enjoyable and educational. Just a thought, have you ever considered making a wish list that we the viewers can see to perhaps support the materials hat you review? I heard that viewers can either pay for or add a certain dollar amount toward your wish list on Amazon and once you receive a certain amount (or someone buys a certain item in full that they select) it then gets shipped to you and taken off your wish list. If I understood that concept wrong then Amazon needs to figure something like that out and it gives you affiliate comm. Anyways I thank you for everything and hard work you put into creating content for us to enjoy. Take care and look forward to your next video.
+Erin S. Hi, thanks for your support. Right now, I'm doing fine. I don't want to give my audience hassle, just by watching my videos, posting comments, visiting my website is good enough for me. Another reason is because I prefer to buy my own stuff. It's only when you spend your own money can you really assess the value of the item. But the Patreon support really helps because I use the money to hire other artists to write reviews for art products I don't use or am lousy at. The goal ultimately is to put out accurate and balanced reviews, and if I cannot do it myself, I try to get another artist to help. :-)
I am so impressed with this video! Thank you so much for such a thorough overview of what you do, how you work, how you approach your productions and choose topics, and how you receive income from your 'hobby.' I've been following your channel for awhile now and always look forward to seeing your next video; you're so talented and generous with your time. This particular video in particular though was so refreshingly forthcoming and informative, providing even more insight into your RUclips channel, website, etc. Thank you so much.
Holy Cow! Frank Lloyd Wright Museum is right here in my city. I saw that you are doing a book on him over on your web page and thought it synchronicity at play. (thanks for the link) He built the Rosenbaum house here which attracts tourists in droves (as well as WC Handy birthplace) and the Helen Keller birthplace is local and Wilson Dam. There are so many good things here to sketch, I do hope you come this way. Bye again.
Think I've said this multiple times on different videos of yours. But I love your blog and videos! So glad your hobbies help me so much. I only found out about your channel a week ago but I've watched so much of it! Please keep posting! :)
Teoh, thank you for this video, and for all the hard work you put into your channel (and blog). I really appreciate your reviews, and find them to be very helpful.
I always visit your site prior to buying any books to check for your review, i very much appreciate your hard work and when ever i can i most certainly will use the links on your site to purchase books. Thanks
I'm so glad I came by your channel, especially this video. I like how you are sincere with what you say about these products. Thank you for the honest reviews!
It was really interesting to hear what your career is all about. I admire your energy Teoh. To actually make a videa practically every day is quite mind-boggling. You are an a real example to us all as an artist who is totally committed to his passion to draw and paint. I am lucky to have found your videos and I am grateful for your generosity in sharing your experiences. Hats off to you.
+Chammi Kaiser Thanks. It is certainly not easy to keep up with producing videos every day. I do not have any other hobbies other than sketching so if I'm not sketching, I usually have time to make videos.
Teoh, your videos are SO helpful. I really appreciate all the work you put in to them. Also your sketches are really inspirational for a beginning sketcher like me. I joined an online course on Sketchbook Skool and although I have really enjoyed their course materials I have learned a lot more from your videos. Keep up the great work!
I love your reviews. I feel I can rely on what you say because you are not afraid to be critical of products. You are getting close to 25K subscribers!
I appreceate it that you make your priorities and ideas behind this channel clear. :) I usually use ad blocks but if I feel people are honest I feel inclined to make excemptions.
Yes, you can. For youtubers I follow and feel I want to support them by allowing those annoying adds I can just unblock the video before watching it. For websites and blogs you can add them to your ad blocker as exceptions. (Anyway, on firefox it's easy).
Hey Teoh, Thank you for your videos. I have purchased a number of items based on your reviews. I have purchased the Global Arts Trav-e-logue journals and the Sennelier watercolor. I appreciate your straight forward reviews. I also really enjoy your instructional videos. I actually purchased the watercolors even though you didn't give them the best review, because I liked how they looked and the price point. I am quite happy with them. I will try Daniel Smith next. I didn't not know that buying through your links can help you. If I can and I am buying something because of your review, I will try to buy through your links. Thank you.
Do more demos while you are sketching and painting...that is less expensive (you won't have to buy so many expensive books and supplies) and you will be doing something you enjoy at the same time! And it is something your followers will enjoy watching, too!
I can often count on seeing your videos flipping through books on Amazon reviews. I have bought many books from your Amazon videos. I recently found you on RUclips.
+neikaplay Thanks! :-D This channel features mostly sketching and not much art books. You can can check all my other videos here to get a sense of what I put out ruclips.net/user/teohycvideos
it would be interesting to see an art studio tour from you.;-) Also, if you do do one, I would like to see your storage of art supplies. I would really like to see all your art supplies in one video to put how many art supplies you have in perspective
First, thank you so much for sharing your passion, your knowledge and reviews. Next, We want you in Denmark where there is no noise, you deserve it haha... okay that will probably never happen, joke aside, I wish you continuous good luck and good health.
I very much appreciate this video. You are one of a kind. I hope you manage to come to Alabama someday where it is green and lush and lives up to it's name: Alabama the beautiful. I will look into patreon as well and I use Amazon quite often, so I will be using your links If I can learn how to navigate those things. I grew up long before computers or even walk about telephones. Ha! What a life we're all having! Thank you once again for sharing. You are interesting and often make me smile (in a good way) Bye now
Thanks. I would love to travel to more places but money and time is a problem. If I work for money, I can't travel. If I travel, I can't save money. LOL. As for the Amazon links, you can use the ones on my website's left sidebar at www.parkablogs.com Thanks so much for your support. :-)
your parkablog is much appreciated. if it wasnt for parkabogs i i would not have known the books...Adventure Kartel by ashley wood and Vox by matteo de longis. two incredible art books. ill remember to use your links when i buy the books.
I've only discovered you a week ago or so and love your videos. This particular video however has earned you a patron. Keep up the good work! (Looking forward to your XP-Pen Artist 22 review)
hey teoh! thanks for your amazing reviews and tireless effort! here are 2 topics that I think would make great future videos: 1. "peerless watercolors" which I just heard about. they are very unique and amazing! 2. diy watercolor sketchbooks... maybe you could make one or interview a friend who has!
+Airbugg Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out Peerless Watercolor in the future. As for DIY sketchbooks, I find them too troublesome to make. Although I did get one binded by the Society of Disabled in Singapore using Fabriano paper. www.parkablogs.com/picture/review-spd-painters-journal-300gsm-watercolour-100-cotton-sketchbook
Holy hell Teoh, is amazing to know the amount of work (and love) you put into these videos, I literally had to disable adblock (so you can get your revenue) and my comment section hide extension the moment I saw this pop up. I found your videos I think it was yesterday (I was looking for a fountain pen to buy and might have decided to buy a lamy or a metropolitan and mod it to add a g nib), after that I watched a ton of your videos (all your product reviews atleast) and subbed, and then I realize you upload videos almost daily... I am speechless, thanks for all your effort and keep going. (oh and I followed your tumblr too, saw the little amount of notes you had so I shared it with some of my friends)
Excellent videos. Have you considered and tried airbrushes for some of your street / building scenes? Quality airbrushes with 0.02 and 0.05 caps and needle valves can be adjusted to lay down very, very light weight linework and then opened up for shading larger areas. If you do try one, get one that uses siphon bottles instead of the top feed because changing colors is way faster by putting different colors in different bottles. And one bottle with cleaner for a couple of quick spritzes between color changes to clean out the cap and needle. The top feeders take a lot longer to change colors. These are the main tools used by graphic artists doing murals and detailed images on posters and custom cars. Of course, using an airbrush would be better and more practical in your home due to the need for a small air compressor.
One last tip. If you like airbrushes and get one of the small, quiet diaphram compressors, be sure to get a hose that is at least 10 feet long so the impulses the compressor produces will be smoothed out before the air reaches the airbrush. That produces a smooth air flow at and through the tool. Those longer hoses are easy to get and are economical. I got one and also got the quick disconnect with the adjustment knob built in. Another economical buy. You can find these things, along with different airbrushes at several reliable sources on line. Good luck and I think that with your talent, it can be used with outstanding results. Buying the high priced brushes such as an Iwata is not necessary. Excellent quality brushes can be found in the sub-125 dollar range. That's what I got and the tool is great quality. Make sure you get one with a dual action control. That allows the user to adjust the final air flow out the needle AND the amount of ink / paint that is fed into the air flow with the same finger. Takes practice to get the "feel", but is not real difficult. As I said, with your talent, you will get the feel very quickly and find whole new avenues of artistic practices to add to your bag of tricks. There are hundreds of artistic "tricks" that can be very useful, such as making very realistic water droplets in a custom painting.
thanks for the info. I was wondering what you did as a job. Everything you do is very informative. You may not need to worry about the background noises so much. Most people have learned to block that out.
Jiayou! I know how much "extra" time and effort go into a consistent RUclips channel and a blog because I have both that I stopped up-keeping after my second year at work. I could afford a lot more during my uni days.
Your channel is one of my favourites on RUclips and I also follow your blog. Thanks for all the hard work and effort you put in, Teoh...it is very much appreciated. Just one question - I was told by another RUclipsr that, if we watch the whole advertisement, the RUclipsr gets paid a little more than if we were to click off the ad at the 5 second mark so I make it a point to always sit through the whole ads on my favourite RUclips channels. I just wondered if that is true or am I just wasting time watching the whole ads?
You can watch the ad whole if it appeals to you. But don't watch the whole thing only for the purpose of supporting the RUclipsr because the earnings from that single viewing is not significant. It's like $1-2 for 1000 views. The earning from ads is not significant.
I'm sure all of your viewers greatly appreciate the work you put into them!! I know I definitely do. Thank you for being so honest with your reviews and how you conduct your online business. I hope more people find your channel and blog so you can make it a full time job like you want to! :)
+Emily Hutnik Thanks 😊

Haha. One day I will create that video. I don't really have an art studio though. All my supplies are in drawers.
+Teoh Yi Chie still it would be interesting to see your typical drawing setup.^~^
you certainly keep yourself busy!!
Thanks ヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪
LOL.
As for the Amazon links, you can use the ones on my website's left sidebar at www.parkablogs.com
Thanks so much for your support. :-)
Teoh you are a cool dude, you inspired me to buy a watercolorset at a artstore today
+KaiK96 That's great. Have fun creating, making art.

i wish i would visit Spore to draw what you show us on your vdo. your illustration is very inspiring
I've only discovered you a week ago or so and love your videos. This particular video however has earned you a patron. Keep up the good work! (Looking forward to your XP-Pen Artist 22 review)
+Dan Novak Thanks. I saw your Patron support. Really appreciate it!
Thank you!
hey teoh! thanks for your amazing reviews and tireless effort!
here are 2 topics that I think would make great future videos:
+SpiralHero Thanks for your support! :-)
+William Dungan Jr. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I will experiment when I have the chance.
There are hundreds of artistic "tricks" that can be very useful, such as making very realistic water droplets in a custom painting.
very interesting. thanks!!
Thanks :-)
thanks for the info. I was wondering what you did as a job. Everything you do is very informative. You may not need to worry about the background noises so much. Most people have learned to block that out.
+gene kirkham Thanks!
Jiayou! I know how much "extra" time and effort go into a consistent RUclips channel and a blog because I have both that I stopped up-keeping after my second year at work. I could afford a lot more during my uni days.
I appreciate what you do reviewing all those books. Any books I buy off Amazon I will try to use your referral links. Thanks man
+cowboyjai1 Thanks for your support! I really appreciate that :-)
Your channel is one of my favourites on RUclips and I also follow your blog.
+Teoh Yi Chie Thanks for the clarification, Teoh. Good to know it's not necessary for me to sit through the whole ad.
