After many years of research the Sound Beach Civic Association and its History Committee had put together the story of Sound Beach, NY and how this hamlet came to be.
While Bea Ruberto, the Sound Beach Civic President, was the driving force behind this research project, resulting in a book called "Our Town Our Story", I decided to memorialize her efforts and this town's story in a film.
Thank you for watching... Leon Adler.

Wow! I spent my entire childhood in Sound Beach, and moved in 2017 after graduating from undergrad. While I knew some of the town's humble origins, I didn't know most of this. Seeing the Sound Beach Diner is so bittersweet - I spent my summers waitressing at George's Kitchen during college, and spent countless afternoons walking past the square to my best friend's house after school. Thank you so much for making this!

Thank you so much for this documentary. I just moved to Sound Beach in 2020 and im so happy to see there is a thriving community who cares about its history. I watched this video with a soft nostalgia for a time I never even existed in. I hope as I raise a family in this area that the community stays strong and resiliant. Stay creative and inspired.

This was great and so well done. I spent summers in Sound Beach and this brought back so many great memories. My parents had a house on the corner of Wildwood and Waterville Dr. Many of our friends lived in “Paradiso” and the moms and kids (dads came on the weekends) would get together to play cards while the kids played outside. Days were spent at the beach. Going back to the city at the end of the summer was always so depressing.

I am saving this film for my family. We have lived here for over 25 years and I truly appreciate the hard work that went into creating it. I did miss (on corner of Echo) Corner Bargains, Video Store, Genes' deli (sloppy eggs😁) a wee bit farther down was Buddy's Bakery, the Butcher and a small laundromat. You virtually never had to leave the the Avenue! There was even a bank on the corner of Echo and North Country. The current scary climate we are in makes Sound Beach that much more comforting but I have a feeling the crime wave is closer. Let's hope we can ❤🔚

We lived on Babylon Drive between 1974-85, moving all the way to a house in the bluff on Culross Drive, Rocky Point. For the past 20 years we have lived in South Florida. A friend recently sent me an article from Newsday featuring our old home town. This brought me to this wonderful video. Thanks for the memories. Tony Zeidler and family.

Fabulous job! I spent summers of my childhood in the 60's there and really enjoyed this video and the way past scenes morphed into present ones! So well done. AND! I learned about the Daily Mirror selling lots 20 x 100 which is the same paper that sold lots in Putnam Lake where my family moved when we stopped going to Sound Beach! Small world.

I have lived in Rocky Point for 37 years but have lived in Sb as well as MP and PJ (where I was born and of which I have colonial roots).
I am fascinated with the history of all surrounding towns. (Incl Shoreham and WR).
This was fascinating! Thank you so much for all your hard work putting this together.
