    I've been a fan of your fantasy work for ages, but I'm loving the sci-fi terrain even more right now. Careful with going down the path of rust, though... once you start painting things rusty, it gets hard to stop!

    I have been doing some gaslands kitbash es lately and I have been doing the tried and true trick of super glue and baking soda trick for rust texture. You just go hard and sloppy and it comes out great.

    These looks great. Love the way they came out. I like how you used the granny grading at a 45 degree angle to look more industrial and less like the original source material.

      It looks so much better at a 45 degree angle. It's practically a must.

    Consider adding plastic-glue to your arsenal... it literally fuses the pieces together, and works a treat on old sprues. Though I'd still use super-glue for the "granny grating," since that's a different kind of plastic.

      @brokenterrain  Год назад +1

      Good tip. I'll look into it.

      @@brokenterrain Citadel and Army Painter have their own versions, but most swear by Mr. Hobby, which the Bishojo Plamo (Pretty Girl Plastic Model) hobbyists use to seal up visible seams in the fleshy-bits of their cuties... not a problem I run into with 30 Minute Sisters kits, but Megami Device and similar? Yeah, they usually have some pretty visible seam-lines that a little plastic-cement and a sanding-stick won't take care of.

    • @manjr

      man you gotta get a pair of godhand spn 120,those sprue cutters your using are gnarly are really leave some very rough stress marks all over the sprue and plastic I assume this is happening to your models as well however maybe not as important if your painting but seriously those nippers will change your life

      @thetribunaloftheimaginatio5247 no most people swear by tamiya extra thin cement....Mr hobby(gunze aka gsi creos now)is also great but tamiya is the best however most people don't know you can save a whole lot of money by just getting tamiya x20 thinner it's the same ingredients at a fraction of the price

    Those are some nice catwalks. I'd make some of my own, but I found some ready-made platforms of similar enough style from Daiso, the Japanese dollar store, a while back. All they needed was a paint job, and they stack well.

    Ive heard from a couple of other channels that if you 'heat treat' the granny grating it takes glue much better, from what i saw they just held a liter to it for a short time, ive not had a chance to try it myself though.

      Crafters call it "granny grating", but really it's a plastic mesh used for cross stitching -- search for "cross stitch mesh" and you'll find it.

    So, I have a pair of end wire nippers myself, but your particular pair has that nice set of what I think of as fangs on only one side that look fantastic to work with.
    1. What brand are they?
    2. Where can I find some? (I'm in Canada but I'd order if I had to)

    • @brokenterrain
      @brokenterrain  Год назад +1

      I'm not exactly sure where the pliers I'm using come from. As far as I can tell, they are from a company called tekton, but I have been unable to find a matching pair online. Closest I can find are linked in the video description. I suggest searching for "end cutting pliers" and looking through the results.

      They're "High leverage end cutters" they're quite pricey from what I see online, between $65-100+ Canadian. Now that I know what they're called, I can shop around locally for a good deal! Thanks for giving me the brand name, it helped solve the mystery!
