i think this is a great idea as i do struggle to get a setting i like. Also maybe you could help with ACC as well. i know you dont really play that but would be good.
In our league we use parc ferme, so all I can change from quali to the race are the front wing and transmission. Would you recommend doing that or does it throw the car off balance?
Hey James, I have a question. What happens if parc ferme rules are reinforced? since with parc ferme, your setup for qualy and race is going to be the same
Yes the wet definitely. I just raced an AOR league Race at USA. And in sector 3 I was struggling to get the car rotated. Seems I had I a little to much grip bc of the dry Qualy. I was trying to find a good balance between the dry and wet just in case the race had changing weather conditions. Unfortunately, it rained the whole race and I just struggled to rotate the car. I mean I was Fighting it.
Also i struggle to even figure out what driving style i even have/perform best with, makes tweaking setups super confusing because I don't know what i want
@@kowiniskul id definitely keep the subscription especially if i like what i see but I don't want to start paying for it now if he doesn't post that vid for another few months
The game's pretty broken if the best way to setup the car is to always throw several settings to either limit and keep them there (tyre or brake pressure, differential, brake balance).
I’m just curious as to when a racing “game” becomes a racing “sim” and vice-versa?? What’s the critical border/threshold between one and the other? There’s seems to be a hell of a lot of discussion and opinion on this but in the absence of a single, global authority on the subject I’d be interested to know if there are a set of pre-requisites that must be met for a racing “game” to be deemed a “sim”? Perhaps an idea for a video? 😉
The goal of a sim is to simulate the feeling of driving and racing the cars AND be as realistic as possible. A (arcade) game might be based on a real thing but it behaves completely different than the real thing, mostly for a better and more fun/casual experience for the user, i guees. Example: Need For Speed is clearly a game. Especially the newest one looks amazing and very realistic but the driving/ handling is not realistic at all. On the other hand, sims like iracing or rfactor2 feel very real and you might sometimes catch yourself forgetting you are not actually driving a car but sitting in front of a computer screen. Dunno if you get what I mean but this is what I understand what's the difference between the two.
@@kowiniskul Thanks Kowin. I do get the general points around “sim” / “arcade” but my point is more based around why would F12020 be considered “game/arcade” and other titles considered “sim”? Who makes this call and what are the key measurement metrics for this? It seems to be purely based on general opinion and not actually a set of clearly defined and measurable metrics? Surely the only person truly qualified to measure the realism of an F1 game to see if it’s realistic and immersive enough to be considered a “sim” is someone who has actually driven an F1 car? Everyone else is making educated guesses and assumptions aren’t they ?
@@tonypap1 Max Verstappen has a pretty explicit opinion on the f1 games. There is a reason he does not bother with it or hasn't attentended any virtuals gps, bc it's to unrealistic for him, unlike the sims he plays regularly. Also Lirim Zendeli, F2 driver for MP Motorsport answered if the (f2) cars would feel anything like real f2 cars, that they weren't anything like it. So it makes sense, that actual f1/f2/... drivers as professionals are not (immediately) as fast if they play it for the first time, even though they have driven and raced actual machinery, and f1 esports drivers would (presumably) not come anywhere near the pace and consistency an f1 driver could achieve.
@@kowiniskul That’s interesting👍🏻 So what sims do the real F1 drivers use? Are they open-market, commercial sims that we see or do the actual teams develop their own or perhaps collaborate with the tech companies?
@@tonypap1 Every F1 Team has a Simulator setup, which is for testing setups changes but also for the drivers to get used to the track. The teams don't give much information about their simulators but what I know is that the test drivers drive them *A LOT*. As for the f1 drivers, when they are at home some of them have their own sim rigs, some more professional than others but to name examples, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris have streamed much iRacing back in the day. Carlos Sainz bought the same rig as Lando after trying it out and Norris has stated that he is very good on the McLaren Simulator but really bad in iRacing iirc. Alonso is known for having raced in some online racing events like just recently the 24 h of Daytona and Grosjean is on the sim fairly regularly and even has his own esports team.
@Jaaames could you do a video where you can give us a breakdown of good race set ups for each track please?. It will be really helpful for us who don’t have time to grind the game and just want to enjoy it as much as possible
How does a wet set up differ to a dry one? I recently had a wet league race and was a good second off the pace per lap using a dry one, any tips? (I know you said you were considering doing a vid on it and I would love that btw)
I don't have wet setups for every track so usually I just increase rear aero to increase stability, increase off throttle differential by 2-3% and make the suspension less agressive for more stability as well on your normal race setup. For example if your rear wing is 6 on your normal setup increase it to 8 or 9 for the rain. edit: I also don't recommend copying wet time trial setups because they might be fast but hard to drive so in a race you would get way too much oversteer
So can we use your hotlap setup for races? Or will this setup give us too much tyre wear? I'm trying to do my own but I like a lot your setups, especially for TT.
i had to edit the one for baku as i kept losing the rear(probably because i was on controller) , as he mentioned in this video , the setups you find online need a personal touch to make it comfortable for you.
YES! WET SETUP BABYYYYYYYY CUS WE SUCK AT THOSE!! I would love a wet setup video, I sometimes am a god in the rain and sometimes I suck so bad I wonder why I'm even trying
Don’t point the microphone in front of you like that cause that’s not how the blue yeti works brother! Try talking like it was in front of you or coming from above you! 👊🏽🤗
I would love to see some wet setups + tips and tricks. Really struggling to become faster in the wet..
You can go to the hotlap mode, look where the world record times are. There you can copy and use the best set ups in wet and in dry.
You want to have a lot of ground clearance so you don’t get water planning

At 4:23 you say that that adding front camber will make your setup more aggressive. Adding means in this case a point to the left ?
i think this is a great idea as i do struggle to get a setting i like. Also maybe you could help with ACC as well. i know you dont really play that but would be good.
This is a great vid! However id say the setup changed need to be compromised for league racing when parc ferme is on , if its on it sucks lol
What would you change to make the car more oversteery? I lose a lot of time with understeer
soft front, stiff rear
