I found tomato, green beans, sweet peppers and dill seeds wrapped in news paper in a shed in my dad's shed. Dates were from the 60's. They all sprouted.
Isn’t it just amazing. Gardening fascinates me. I’m learning with experience that seeds really want to grow and we don’t need to think so hard about it. I’m now falling in love with letting plants go to seed and learning how to save them all.
Yes. I think you’re correct. Ben seems to be ok with them. But there have been some that are just terrible to me. They are absolutely stunning to grow though.
Some of my favorites this year were Chocolate Stripe, Vintage Wine, Marianna’s Peace, and Granny Cantrel. (I have seeds.). The first two are now some of my top favorites with a wine like sweet flavor and the last two just a great tomato flavor. Also Cherokee Purple and Brandywine.
The only one I haven’t grown from your list is Chocolate Stripes. Well I guess I should say I tried but it definitely was not the right tomato. I definitely need to trade again for that one. 😁
🤣🤣he always wants to dress like me. I swear I’ll be dressed for hours and then he gets dressed and cones downstairs and says. “Why are you always dressing like me” and I say. Wait a minute buddy you’ve matched me. 🤣. We don’t even have to try anymore
Do Taiga by Karen Oliver please. That could be another theme for you. Videos of specific breeders tomatoes like wild boar , Karen Oliver tom wagner etc.
Oh yes that would be fun. I think I might have Taiga seeds in my collection. I’ll have to look. But I’m definitely going to be doing some themes next year. I think I’ve got an Alice and Wonderland one gathered so far. 😁
Oh! 😂 We got an actual “Ew!” And a “Nope” from that 2nd one 😂 I love the sniff tests. That is correct on the heirloom & open pollinated definitions 👌 Dean’s Chocolate Salty Balls 😏
Yes some of those Antho tomatoes are just nasty to me. But they are pretty. Ben doesn’t mind them though. By the way I’ve been loving your #one day thing a day videos. I’ve been trying that out myself.
Hi. Ok I’ll be nicer to Ben. But trust me he can dish it out just as much as I. We know not to take each other too seriously. But I’m glad you enjoy him being in some of the videos.

With regards to the whole definition of heirloom and the fifty years mark... Seems arbitrarily idiotic. If I create a new tomato, cultivate for a few years to make it stable then put it in a freezer for 45 years. Then someone grows it... Then it's an heirloom? Why... Because it's been over fifty years? Seems too simplistic. An heirloom for me is any tomato that is unique, stable, and preferably carries a story or otherwise that was grown by the same family or region. I'm not feeling overly petty about an X amount of years. Inheritance seems more important to me.
There definitely is the back and forth with that argument. I personally love the ones that have the incredible back stories to them. It is truly amazing how some tomatoes go way way back. I’m growing one this year that’s story dates back to the 1500’s.

I love antho tomatoes. I think it is like Cilantro. Some taste soap, some love it. I love it.

I liked the looks of all of them but your reaction to Copper River sold it for me I'm definitely going to try it .
Have a great day 😊
It’s a stunning tomato. I hope you like it too.

Hi Jen, love your videos! My favourite here in the UK is Rose de Berne 😊🍅
Hi and thank you so much. I’m glad you enjoy my content. I grew Rose de Berne last year. It is a lovely tomato and very productive
Jen, thanks again for doing the Taste Tests. I love Copper River and Polaris. I grew them this year.
Thank you Olivia. You are always so kind. And wasn’t copper river so pretty in the inside.

Hi Jen, don.t say Ben isn't funny, he is. I watch more of your vidéos since he is there.

I don't like antho tomatoes raw, but they're great roasted!
Yes definitely not very tasty raw but I froze a bunch and will just cook into sauces and soups.
I have about 200 varieties of tomatoes. Is there somewhere I could email you a list and see if you’d like any to trade?

Hi Jen, love you. Why don't you use a longer knefe?
In case she accidentally pokes him in the eye 😅
🤣🤣🤣you cracked me up. It’s funny but true.
@potager365 😊I love you too. The knives I use are just my favorites. They are small but mighty but cut tomatoes so nicely.
