    That is a beautiful tractor. I had the MX5100 for 11 years. Beside my marriage, best thing I ever got. Hated to sell it but moved to Florida so I no longer needed it. You're gonna have years of enjoyment. Thanks to you and your wife for the video. God bless and Semper Fi.

      Thanks Chuck for the encouraging comment. This is my fourth Kubota and all have been great machines so far. So I have no doubt this one will follow suit. Enjoy the good life down south. SemperFi, my brother.

    I actually like a well thought out manual. More detail the better but it has to be organized right so it flows and make sense. Great vid, I really like the dynamic when the Mrs. includes her 2 cents, cracks me up.

      The manuals are written fairly well, but when they are written by tech writers whose first language is not English the translations leave a lot to be desired. I believe these manuals are written fairly well, but you know it seems they always lack the specificity we really need sometimes. The worst part is the grainy black and white pictures that lack detail. The actual tractor manual though has very good pics, unlike the third function addendum that's delivered with those components. The Missus likes to put me on the spot I think...at least she does seem to do it quite well. But boy, can she cook !! Thanks for the comment.

      Hydraulics is only one of many areas of my shortcomings Zane. Oh, I have the basics, but the fanciful fittings sometimes are a bit confusing. Luckily we have a very good shop in town that is very helpful and they stock just about everything you can imagine. Literally all the contractors in the area go to him.

    Hi there Wendell
    Well.. I can’t tell you how many times I have missed just the little thing and caused me so much crap.. This was a learning experience and I bet you will learn from it..Nothing like hands on experience..
    Thanks for sharing the solution with us..
    Cheers my friend.

      Good Morning Bobby, and yes, we all make a mistake or overlook something from time to time. The Missus was on a rant for a moment about the manuals we get today with appliances and other stuff. I just let her go. LOL. Have a great day my friend.

    Excellent video for others to learn from !!! And excellent grapple impersonation!! Lol ! Must be a bit of adjustment getting used to the post 1950's model tractors?

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, the adjustment is quite odd. But that's a good thing. HST trannys are the way to go on these smaller tractors for sure. Of course that's just my opinion. I DO like the old ones though and they are not all going to go away. A LOT of them are gonna be gone, but the favorites have a home for life.

    I went my whole life without knowing the name of those hydraulic fittings that used an O ring. Nearly everything I own uses pipe or JIC. Well, once again I wasn't careful and I actually learned something.

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  6 месяцев назад

      The ORB angled fittings are great because they allow infinite directional changes with out leakage. Loosen the locknut, move to the desired angle and lock the nut once again onto the O-ring.

  • @alancummings5008
    @alancummings5008 6 месяцев назад

    Hate to admit that I have made that mistake more than once. When I was farming in the 80’s, we had John Deere tractors and other colors of machinery. JD used O-ring hydraulic fittings and the other machinery companies didn’t. Someone would replace a hose and not realize that a o-ring fittings was required. Oil leak. Then dust clinging to the oil. What a mess. So it would get over tightened and ruin the threads.

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  6 месяцев назад

      I can relate to that Alan. LOL It is mind boggling to stop and think about the things engineers can to do throw a wrinkle into the works isn't it. Sometimes they do have some good ideas though. Gotta take the bad with the good I guess.

      I'll pass the message on to the Missus for you Rick. She went on a bit of a rant about manuals and she's not wrong. At least this one was only in English, but the drawings ARE shrunk down so small it's hard to make 'em out...especially for a guy like me that goes by pictures mostly. LOL

      What's aggravating is how small they shrink the drawings to fit on the page. It makes it very hard for old guys to even read sometimes. LOL That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it !!

    I would suggest for any extended period without an attachment on the function.
    Add a small hose to avoid running fluid over the relief valve and un-needed hose stress. or disconnect the wires so it doesn't trigger the valve.
    .
    Probably the most mind bending thing in hydraulics ive come across is. on equipment from overseas with of all things British metric hyd fittings. there made just a little tight so on top of everything you cannot spin it on the threads by hand, have to use wrenches all the way down the threads..!!
    .
    Thats one serious WOWSERS BATMAN thing to deal with!!
    LOL

    • @tractorman4461
      @tractorman4461  6 месяцев назад

      I wasn't aware of the problem with the British metric hydraulic fittings. I bet that IS a real paint in the rear to deal with. I DID have one of the female quick connects that would NOT pop fully into position on either male poppet. Land Pride immediately sent a replacement that works perfectly. The switch assembly comes with a waterproof automotive fuse holder in line with the power wire. So disconnect would be quite simple. Thanks for the suggestion.

      I'm right there with ya Keith. They draw these drawings with CAD on the big screen, but then shrink 'em down to fit a page in the manual. I think they don't realize how older guys vision changes with age...or care. The resolution of the drawings sometimes fade with the shrinking too. No longer crisp.

      I understand perfectly. As a commercial HVAC service tech, we had to do the same thing as the systems got more and more involved with DDC controls. I've been retired almost 11 years now and am not sure I could even go back into a service truck without struggling with the changes that's occurred since then.
