Written tutorial here: hellosewing.com/diy-scarf-face-mask/ *** You need either: ONE piece of fabric 25 x 50 inches or TWO 25 inch squares of fabric (you need to place them on top of each other instead of folding one whole piece of fabric in half).
Very easy design. The link takes you to EVERYTHING you need to create your own mask. I’m going to fold and cut several at one time. The instructions were self explanatory and very easy to follow! 🥰 Thank you for sharing😊
Since I saw the pic I thought this going to be the best video and I was wrong because is not just the best, is the best of the best video ever for this item, very simple, perfect, because is not just covering your face but the neck too so you can use as sun protection in the neck. I LOVED IT.
THANK YOU! I have sensory issues and the surgical masks drive me nuts. I happen to stumble onto this idea & watched a few videos getting frustrated. Let me tell you some make it soooo hard! This actually looks attemptable for me despite only having used a sewing machine a few times. Fingers crossed I do it ok!
You should edit this video so that it explains you need two pieces of fabric, either 20” or 25”, and edit out the part where you say, “fold the fabric in half” at the beginning.
Annie Mellen You DO NOT need two pieces of fabric! It states to fold the cut piece in half! Therefore creating both layers! At this point follow the on screen instructions.....sewing on the fold seem to create the shape! Very easy to follow...... 😊
Hi Kindle... I am from Vancouver Island too!.... I wonder if they will let me in to Superstore or Walmart if I have one of these on?.... Did you know it is rumored that Superstore and Walmart will be requiring proof of vaccination as soon as it is out?...
Thank you so much for doing this pattern and tutorial! I have been searching for a while for scarf face mask pattern that was 1. In English and 2. Simple. This will be fun!💕
Can you make another one like this WITH the 3D piece that goes across the nose? I could probably figure it out, but I'm too lazy! hahaha I also would add snaps at the points so it wouldn't fall off when not in place behind my ears, (like the opening shot if you in this vid) Great job
Thanks, Jennifer! Do you mean with a nose wire? You can just slip it inside when you turn the scarf RSO and sew around it to keep it in place. Or you can just sew a piece of ribbon on the top area for a removable nose piece. It is super easy. Check out my other tutorials over at hellosewing.com As for the snaps - you can certainly add snaps if you prefer, I just tie the scarf behind my neck. Good luck and happy sewing
no, not the nose wire but the piece of fabric that lays atop the nose, like a shelf. It is better for us who wear glasses as it doesn't fog them as easily. this 3d mask video tutorual has it, but your pattern is better: ruclips.net/video/QQcN9NqKJFk/видео.html
@@granamiere it's the nose wire that prevents fogging of glasses. I won't be designing another scarf face mask soon, as I already have 13 different designs. If you can figure out how to mash both patterns, I have a 3d face mask pattern here hellosewing.com/3d-face-mask-diy/ Good luck 😸🍀🍀
I am confused. With the beginning instructions. Fabric 20 - 25 inches? Then fold in half before cutting? Do you fold in half to a square? I measures 25 x25 and when I fold in half it is now a rectangle. Your video show a square. I am a beginner as you can tell by my questions?
@@HelloSewing She said she can't download the pattern. I can't make it either because I don't have a printer. Can you give us the measurements to the paper pattern so that we can try to draw it? Thank you.

@@cheshkat6321 Thank you. I did figure it out though. I measured my face and went from there. It took me 3 tries but i finally got it. I made my grandson one too. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with me. At first I didn't trust this type mask but I read about cutting out a piece of a panty hose. Slipping that over the nose and mouth and under whatever mask we wear. It has a lot of protection and seals to the face. Your facemask will cling to it. Nothing gets through any open spaces. I saved that link if you want to read about it. It's very interesting.
@@thatgirlthatsme Every adjustment that adds protection is a good thing. I have been using three or four layers. A video I saw said to light a candle and hold it about six or less inches from your face. If you can blow out the flame easily, then the mask is insufficient. So that's how I test whether or not the patterns I use are adequate. Then I add another layer, or add a pocket and insert a folded paper towel. My very first mask failed. Largely due to hoarders and Amazon took weeks to deliver. But now I have a dozen to get me through this nightmare year. Glad you were able to persevere with the size and shape.
Now that you sewing machine owners won't get the virus and die, could you recommend a face mask channel for the 98% of us who don't have frickin' sewing machines and COULD get the virus and die. Thanks.
Hey Facite, I'm glad you are looking for ways to make a face mask. You don't need a sewing machine to make it. Actually you can make any of my masks by hand, it will just take you longer. Just use running stitch or backstitch and you are good. This one is the easiest to sew by hand as it has only two side stitches ruclips.net/video/Bwdm2itINao/видео.html In case you can't sew at all, CDC has guidelines has to make a no sew mask using a bandana or t-shirt and couple of hair ties. Hope that you stay safe and healthy!

Have a great pattern for a mask that I use (one to match every outfit for me and my daughter plus others that are fun or luxury fabrics) and am going to use that design and add the triangular shape fabric either along the bottom seam under the chin or across the front so it falls down hiding the mask from the nose down.
