      I get why people want to know the Fate of the Destiny, but honestly? Screw it. SGU was so bad, i only want a 2 Minute Mini-Episode that clears that Story-line up and then a Big 'The End' floating though Space. Just that.
      The Wraith-Storyline meanwhile actually is Important, actually needs to be Finished, and what-not-else could be said about it.
      The Wraith-Storyline needs to be finished, and no one can finish it right with less than 2 Movies or 2 Seasons.
      We also can't possibly get some entirely new Stargate in the Future and the Wraith-Storyline is just finished in ONE SENTENCE "Oh, yeah, remember the Wraith and how we defeated them?" and that's it... That would be terrible.

    I just finished SGA and I was looking for answers as to why the hell it ended like that. The fact that this was cancelled and Joe tried to save the series and was turned away is just plain killing me right now. This is a complete injustice to the fantastic writers, cast, and production team of SGA. Hollywood has a terrible trend of killing great shows to cash in for a 'BIG MOVIE' which is usually terribly put together and is frankly insulting to the entire fanbase.
    For what it's worth, the series was amazing and original with such fantastic, talented actors and writers. I hope the best turns out for all of you and thank you for the fantastic series you gave us!

      I know that I'm alone and studios don't give a shit about one consumer but this is practically why I am "boycotting" Hollywood. I am simply refusing to pay for anything that greedy morons produce. (Not to say that the quality of the movies they release is swiftly deteriorating too).
      I much rather watch shows which have talented and passionate producers, writers, cast and crew. People working on Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Sherlock, Black Mirror, Westworld and the likes actually love what they are doing, have long-term plans and perspective and it is important to them to give fans what they want and do justice to their creations. To Hollywood we are just statistics.

    Joe is 100% right about everything he said. And really the saddest part is that's its been too long to go back to where it got left. Best case scenario would be a jump cut forward ten years with the existence of the stargate common knowledge and explore what would come of that. It would be a great story. No one wants to go back to Emmerich's vision except Emmerich.

      I have all the SG1 & SGA DVD's. I watched SGU and I really wanted to like it. They even got Richard Dean Anderson for some guest shots. The first 10 episodes sucked. Even the "younger fan base" like by son. Watched the first 6 episodes and that was it. He wanted the other 2 back. I was really unhappy with the end of SGA. They just left us hanging. At least with SG1we got the Ark of Truth to end it. I think Amanda, Chris and Michael were really to leave after 10 years. But I have not heard them say it. But when I get sick of the TV I watch my DVD's. With the election that's been a lot.

      @@merlinthegray SGU had great promise as a different take on the franchise with some incredible moments, that season 2 ending was brilliant imo, buuuut it wasn't smart to nuke the other series to fuel it.

    I loved all three series, for they were each brilliant in their own rights. It kills me especially that SGU was left to die because I feel that if it was allowed to continue past the second season, it would've gone places that would shut up those saying that the show was unoriginal. SGU...sexier audience?!!??? SGA had it all for a diverse audience, with JOE, Jason and Rachelle drawing in the female and male fans with their sexy good looks and David doing the science techno speak for the "geeks"!
    SGU did not have the characterizations that inspired me to watch beyond the first episode. It was dull and drab compared to SGA!
    Apparently many Stargate fans felt the same, as the franchise fell shortly after..Too bad they didn't ask the fans what we wanted!! I still feel cheated for the lame ending of SGA!! I sure wish JOE had gotten the rights to continue! Since the new movie does not deal with any of the series, I doubt I will be too excited to see it come to fruition!!

      All things have to come to an end at some point. Part of me wishes they had seen the end before they were forced to. Going out on a high is a much more dignified and graceful way to go and offers a satisfying conclusion instead of scrabbling around for something.
      SG1 got cancelled but they had enough interest, budget and rights to finish off the series - and it took three movies!

      SG-1 didn't have 3 movies?

    • @VerbalEnigma
      @VerbalEnigma 7 лет назад +4

      Yes Stargate generated three movies. The Original Stargate, from which SG1 was born. SG1 was cancelled before finishing up the story but it had generated enough interest and they had enough money to make two movies. The first movie after series 10 is Continuum during which they deal with the last System Lord Ba'al thereby finishing the Goa'uld storyline. The next is the Ark of Truth, thereby finishing the Ori storyline.
      MGM ran into difficulties resulting in Atantis being stopped abruptly. They had plans for a season 6 before the show was cancelled. Then Flannigan tried to lease SGA as everyone involved was still extremely interested however I believe MGM was heading for bankruptcy and despite tentative agreements when high level positions were changed the talks fell through.

      I agree 100% but SGU is a great show. It is supposed to be dark, depressing, gritty as life would be stuck on a extremely ancient ship, barely surviving partially across the universe. as an agnostic athiest myself, I think what they did with the show is actually quite interesting (Destinys' real mission "to find God" or proof of Intelligent life at the time of the big bang) based on the signal found in the background radiation, by the Ancient Ancients I guess you could call them, apart from the normal ancients who have ascended and what not..I would love to see where the show goes becasue there is also what they think are the super poweful aliens who created that one planet "Eden" and also basically teleported all the dead from there to the next Galaxy destiny was in.. I like shows/movies that try and bridge the gap between Science and Religion, SG1 and SGA are both guilty of doing so but still differently than sgu. Battlestar Galactia is also a good one for that stuff aswell.

      The problem with SGU is exactly that, the lack of humor and lightheartedness. Other than that it's great for what it is, but it doesn't really feel like Stargate is supposed to feel.

    • @Nick-jb4xi

      SGU was dark past the point of credibility. The characters were mostly just awful human beings. The later episodes got better in this respect, but it was sort of strange how everyone became a slightly or much better person, largely without a story explanation. But hey, I was just glad it got better.
      Also, the use of the stones always struck me as odd. The stones were used primarily for visiting loved ones, and sometimes important information was exchanged. It's weird to me that they didn't have planned and organized training and skill building. That they didn't have MANDATORY counselling after they'd been stuck on the ship for weeks. When you're dealing with a limited amount of people, in a highly dangerous situation, you NEED skill redundancy. Not to mention, some crew seemed to have zero useful skills, so give them some.

    • @VashtheStampede007
      @VashtheStampede007 6 лет назад +4

      SGU is a bad joke. It should have never happened. The whole series is based on giant plothole and WTF writing.
      The three Ha'tak in the first episode should have been one-shot by Asgard beam weapon. The rest of the stories should never have happened.
      Do you realize what Lucian Alliance is? Just an underworld mafia. They lived in hiding under Goa'uld rule. They were drug dealers, assassins, etc. It was just an organized crime. All the sudden they scavenged more Ha'tak than most system lords had. And they were able to upgraded Ha'tak to beyond Ori motherships??? Even Ori motherships fell to Asgard weapons within a few shots.
      It was beyond dumb to pick a mafia to become the enemy of planet earth... out of so many established cooler enemies such as remaining Goa'uld, Wraith, Replicators, Asen, and a few other "bad" aliens they have encountered in the previous series. It was dumber to give them more Ha'tak than Goa'uld system lords had, and to "upgrade" them with beyond Ascention knowledge the Ori had.
      The whole show did not make sense. And it should have never take place.

Quite literally NOBODY wanted to see a young Catherine Langford running around with a bunch of whiny millennials pissing on Stargate continuity in 1930s Egypt. Yet that's what they decided to make after all these years, and why? Because it ticked all the self-serving Hollywood luvvie boxes just like how Joe was talking about in the video.

  • @spasjt

    You know what this proves? That TV execs really are a bunch of delusional idiots. Sexier, younger audience led to SGU which made every episode a soap opera and lead to completely random plot developments to make the show interesting. What to reboot the franchise execs? Exclude SGU and pick up where SGA and SG1 left off. How do you do that? Well go to Joe Flanigan or any of the great people who are willing. It's not like there aren't options but execs are obsessed with brief flashes of success instead of patient long term development. Besides, rebooting the movie is going to fail. New audiences won't appreciate it because they've "heard that plot somewhere before" and older, as in prior, fans will be miffed.

    • @illexsquid
      @illexsquid 6 лет назад +2

      I agree SGU was a terrible soap opera in space with poorly-engineered arbitrary conflicts, but it had jettisoned a lot of that and was getting to be a lot more like the team effort we enjoyed from Stargate when it got cancelled. The series-ending cliffhanger might have been the best episode of the series. Now that Once Upon a Time is done, maybe Robert Carlyle can come back and resolve it.

    Instead of say "leasing the franchise to him" why not as for the rights to go and make a few episodes off of his own back. Start Crowd Funding (as he said, they have the best fans in the world, so even if 90% of them gave $1 it'd be a fair amount of money!) and get the funding through those means rather than having to deal directly with production and distribution companies and ask for their money on a 'gamble' (in their eyes)

      he didnt have a problem with raising the money, either way he has to either buy the rights (which they probably will never sell) or lease the rights which they didnt want to do for whatever reason. theres no other grounds for them to make the series without the rights to it, no matter how much money we throw at it.

    And now they're going to outrage the fans with a reboot, kind've makes me want to diverse myself from the reboot newbie nerds by wearing a shirt with the Stargate series on it.
    Sci-Fi wait do they spell it with y's anyways Sci-Fi needs to look at the ark of truth for the continuation of the Stargate series, just saying.

I don't think so. They'll just hire new members. I think there's a potential for an SG-1 show or comics series with new characters, with the original characters making cameos or occasional appearances. Stargate SG-1: The Next Generation. Such a shame. SG-1 had a decent enough rough, it was on the air for years. Atlantis still had much to explore with thousands of possible story lines to make for a show that could have been on the air for just as long as it's predecessor. In some ways it reminds me of the shows I grew up back in the 50’s and 60’s such as William Powel in some of his mystery movies he did. Stairgate universe was a dark moody show, in which I watched about twenty minutes of it Shows and movies like that one contributes to some of the social unrest we see today. So as I watch the reruns of it, I will think of weapon can we use to beat the race. I would like to see The Race and The Klingons mix it up. Maybe we can introduce The Race to a 40mm blooper.

Decent plot lines and a capable cast to carry it through. I also struggled a few times with SG1 with the changes to the team and a weird crossover with Farscape! But again the main plotline carried it well and brought a good story. SGU was crap. I can't put it any better than that really. It could have been good, but it wasn't they screwed around with the set up and the general feel of it too much, and it came out like STD. In fact I would say STD is better than SGU!

    That's terrible. Having people who helped make part of the shows great actually interested in continuing the stories and wern't even asking for hand outs they were putting up real money and nothing happened.
    I heard for a while the rumors of MGM or spyglass or whatever in talks with the original creators (the ones who made the first movie, who also hated the tv show or felt the tv show was wrong or something, what I heard) about rebooting the movie and I was like "no!" cause then they would probably mess it up. They helped create the idea of the stargate and thus spawned some really great shows that still stand up to this day but they didn't apparently like those idea and if they were to reboot the movie it probably would have ended up like another transformers type movie.
    What's really sad is that the tv show had a HUGE library of information towards making a really great game, if the right company came along and gave it the respect it deserves. Could have made a great game, heck maybe a bunch of great games. Just think GTA but with stargate (I know there was a few years ago that got cancelled).
    At this point they sat on it way to long, some of the original cast probably wont return. Not to mention the writers and they might have trouble getting the core audience back maybe in this day and age since a lot of people have ditched cable unless they were to push it towards a service like netflix or something. Just stinks all around.

    SGA was perhaps the BEST ever Sci-Fi Series to this very day. Killing it made absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Never been so upset for so long over any show in this life.

      I feel like he's done with acting and holywood life in general... But he's already an alternate Han Solo in my mind.

      I would love to see him in a Han Solo movie but he's too old now for a young Han Solo.

    French subs are wrong in some places. Sadly the most important places.
    Les sous titres fr sont faux à certain moment. Malheureusement aux moment les plus important.

    I honestly think that Stargate SG1 had a good ending and done, Stargate Atlantis does need to come back in either a season 6 or movie to end it, the same thing with Stargate Universe.
    Personally I would only want a SGU movie or season 5 to finish it up, but I would LOVE a season 6 for SGA or movie.

    I'm glad Joe has so much passion, I loved his character along with his team. I started watching with Atlantis (my fav) as I found SG1 cheap compared to the movie when it launched. I've since watched everything and love every aspect of the Stargate franchise. Universe was getting so damn good too! I really hope Joe continues to try. I've never kickstarted anything, but I'd gladly donate to any Stargate project he leads!

    shit, some Firefly folks collected 114% of a indiegogo campaign in one day. Bet Joe and folks would collect enough for a new show or movie too! Bring back Teyla and all :D
