Took my young sons walking across this area back in the 80s. Both boys got their legs horribly irritated from benzene in the water. There's a refinery just north of here. Be careful.
I drive down riverside daily and will see guys walking along with some impressive stringers which look like stripers. I've lived here 50 years and have never fished the Arkansas because of poor water quality but apparently the fishing is great. Couple of questions do you do standard tackle fishing and if so would you be willing to take someone with you to learn how to catch some big stripers? Have you or do you ever eat anything you have caught? I know a guy that swares the fish are safe to eat and was bragging about the leg of salmon he ate from there a couple of weeks ago. What are your thoughts?
I pretty well just fly fish with very few exceptions, And I do not keep fish. Don't let perceived thoughts on water quality stop you. The Arkansas River has all kinds of cool fish to catch! When you see those guys with the fish stop and ask them, if you fish at all you probably already have the gear already to go after stripers.
@@OKflyfishingnice video! I grew up in Tulsa and fished Keystone a lot. Live in DFW and fly fish below Denison. Used to fish below Zink when I visit family. Seen videos of guys fly fishing below I44. Know of a good spot there?
@@OKflyfishing thanks! I'll try exploring from that spot next time I'm in town. If you fish Denison and see a fly angler fishing from a camo Hobie PA12 that's me!
I quit fishing in Oklahoma due to how the GOP run state allows toxic dumping into the lakes and rivers. When you see first-hand them backing up trucks on the boat ramps and dumping the foulest smelling sludge into a lake. It's wrong.
“Trust me, I seen it!” Typical lying Demon-crap. You can’t even define what a woman is, yet you expect us to believe “I was there” without evidence? GTFOH!
Right. You'll make up lies about fish you've never eaten, let alone caught. What you should be worried about is chemicals, preservatives they put in our so called "food" I say so called because it's not really real, let alone fresh. If we stuck with real fruit, vegetables, meats, food that actually spoils all our health would improve
Looks like an awesome day! Great job dialing them in
Thank you!!
Nice video dude! Got my first fly rod recently and I can't wait to get out there and start learning with it. Ready for trout season this winter.
Thank you! Right on, don't wait get out there and start using it for bluegill!
@@OKflyfishing Exactly!! Thats how i learned to fish with my fly rod.
Guessing that around the new dam downtown. Need to try that some time
Yep started at I44 Bridge and ended up at the new Zink Dam.

I think it's better now. I'm sure there's still some nasty stuff still leaching into the river but I've never had a problem.
If you look closely you'll probably see me fishing on the other side behind the soccer fields.

I've always wanted to try to fish this area but have no idea where the best parking spot is. Can you let me know the best access to here please?
Sure, you can park here: maps.app.goo.gl/DyH9mbSXEuv7fs5u5. There's a trail to the river next to crow creek bridge

Soccer fields is a nice area..too..I caught a 20 lb striper fishing for catfish
Yeah i would never eat any fish out of the Arkansas river or keyatone lake. Fun to catch and release though.
I've eaten fish channel catfish and crappie out of keystone lake my whole life
Looked like Spoonbill skull I didn't see teeth

You are full of bs, worse than anything being dumped. I've lived and fished here my whole life
Well they don't do that around here in tulsa however this river for sure is polluted from many years ago
Every fish I've ever caught out of the Arkansas tasted like oil.

You don't even need cooking oil for frying them 😂
