Great advice about the 15 minutes for plein air painting. I tend to use reference photos, mostly my own, for painting. However, that means I often end up painting too much detail and making many mistakes.
Too paint fast requires a lot of skill too, especially knowing how to mix the colours and how much water to use on the brush. You make it look so simple and easy, but I don't have the experience or skills yet to produce consistent paintings. It's still lots of fun and I enjoy painting no matter how it turns out, because with each painting I'm learning something new and practising more and more.
