I am extremely disappointed you aren't making videos this year. I've sat down for hours watching your videos. No one on the internet has a better reloading channel. So thank you for the videos you have for us. Still very sad. Thanks again brother!
It's definitely a good day. I would like to see more of the 300 Win Mag. I am curious about how that chassis is working out. It is about the only thing I can find for my Savage 111.
I'm getting great results with N140 in my Colt M4. Velocity is unfortunately low due to the 16" barrel. Twist is 1in7. N540 looks promising too. Great video! Your time is appreciated!
These are incredibly informative videos, Shawn. Still didn't keep me from buying 10 different types of powder.. LOL.I'm still doing tests myself, to see what works best in my rifle and pistol. But, after 40+ years of reloading, I have still learned a lot watching you. Thank You 🙂
Just took my mk12 out to 1000 yards today! 24 grs of tac, wcc brass, rem 7 1/2 primers, 2.26 oal. With suppressor I'm pushing them out at 2790 on a cold day. 45 mins of adjustment!!
I think it's great to have you back and cranking out videos. I like the addition of your shot spotter to the mix and the new crono provide great information. The one think I like to see added is the SD to the info added at 39:05. Thanks you for your efforts it is greatly appreciated.
Enjoyed the results! I have used bedding compound and release agent to bed the seater stem for various bullet shapes, this helps with VLD bullets and the LESS vld ogive of bullets like the 77g SMK. This is simple and easily accomplished with 5 minute JB Epoxy, and any kind of wax as a release agent.
After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!
Thank you for ALL the lessons brother! Just started reloading, and ran into some problems that I may not have realized if it werent for you. Saved me from blowing my freaking face off! Keep it up!
Your channel is my favorite on you tube. I was watching this latest video and was continuing to evaluate your integration of the shot marker system. The way you are currently including the data is very good and was a lifesaver when the camera went down. Keep up the great work.
I ran a test of crimping as well, sierra 77 and on hornady 55. Light/med crimp gives me average of 50fps on 77 and 70fps on 55 I used imi brass so many variables but fun. I'll do it again just to make sure it wasn't one time thing.
Luckily for me, i recently found your channel and watched the whole series on this load. I'm starting my journey this year and this is the exact load that I would like to clone. The matches I shoot, I am limited to an 18 inch barrel, so it'd be sweet to get it up to 2800+ish. Thanks for basically being my professor of loading!
Johnny, These cloning videos have been incredible useful to me! I have saved a lot of time and money because of you. I have watched most of your video's several times. many thanks brother. Please come back and release some videos.
I am building a MK12 clone with a Centurion Arms MK12 Barrel and have a few hundred rounds of 77gr black hills on the shelf waiting to be sent. I can't wait to determine how well it groups! I've just binge watched this series and seriously wish I had gotten heavier into reloading before COVID smacked our industry upside the head.
Dido I just finished some 6.5mm CM pet loads and was gonna go shoot em and BAM Johnny puts out a dam Video so of course I have to watch it and now it’s dark outside 😫😫🤦🏼♂️🤪👍
YUS! Johnny's back! Just put a Larue MBT and new Nikon 4x12 on my old 1999 era Bushmaster HBAR target--I can't wait for it to stop snowing so I can get to the range. It was 1 MOA with the stock 8 pound trigger so I'm looking forward to getting it sighted in and seeing what it can do.
Really enjoyed this series. I have been doing pretty much the same thing trying to find a good load for the 77gr Sierra and you have given me lots of leads. I don't have all the powders you tested but I do about half dozen of them. Big thanks. 💯👍
Excellent series. Excellent channel. Still waiting on the final results. I thought varget would have done the trick and was amazed with the xbr 8208 results.
Swiss reload RS50 is awesome with these and 77tmks. 2750fps in a moderate load. Bug hole groups. N140 works almost as well. I load at 2.265 for these but have a custom chamber. 1/8 barrel really needed.
25:00 You ever think that the AR feed ramps might be affecting the cartridge as it's going into the chamber? Can't help but wonder when it's sort of alternating between two points of impact depending on which side of the magazine the round is being picked up from. Would be really curious just as a quick fact finding mission what would happen if you hand fed 5 rounds of the same exact load.
Any way for you to put a top 3 or top 5 load list together? Sort of the best of the best accuracy and velocity wise. I hope this series isn't over. Its great. Thanks for the hours of loading and testing you've done.
I am late to your channel. Great information and thanks for the time to do all this. I have had same results with BLC-2 as you had. Experimenting now with H335. Haven't seen you try H335 unless I missed it.
You could try an adjustable carrier too to see if that will help with the over gassing. I think gemtech and bootleg both have options. Great video as always! Can't wait until I get my reloading setup going.
Thank you Johnny, watching the Mark 262 Mod 1 series convinced me that I should find that reloading equipment I bought and learn how to reload. Unfortunately it's a bad time to start to get into reloading, or anything firearms related. But I did manage to find some of the Sierra Match King 77gr OTM, lapua cases and an 8lb jug of Accurate 2250. But the place I got the stuff from ran out of the powder within 24 hours after I bought it. Hopefully they only sold what they had and didn't over sell it. I'll see if they ship it out. Now if I could just find primers. Those seem to be out everywhere 😢 Now I just have to find my reloading kit in the garage and see if I can't get a bench to mount it to.
I’m trying to learn how to reload 5.56. I want to use lighter bullets with high velocities, like 2900-3100 in a 16’ Criterion barrel. I have no equipment yet, hoping to reload my M193 used brass. Seems like CCI41’s and PP Varmint are good to look at.
Why the CCI #41 and not the ubiqituous BR4? I use it exclusively along with the BR2 for 308. -- I shoot the 77Gr (#9377) with 24.5 gr of CFE223 as well as the 155gr (#2156) with 51 gr of CFE223 using the BR4 and BR2 respectively. These are the only rifle bullets, powder and primers I stock. Both have been phenomenally accurate (half MOA from not exactly match grade barrels). Call me a cheapskate, but I don't even own a powder scale, case trimmer, tricklers or concentrically gauge. I only have a Lyman Gen 6 powder drop and a couple of Lee Handpresses which I use for sizing, seating and priming with generic Redding NM 3-die sets. -- Is there a reason you prefer the harder to find #41? The #41 like the Federal #205/210s are always out of stock!
Such a great series JRB, the addition of the new target system with impact velocities and on demand group sizes is fantastic. That new barrel is a great shooter. The .45” group you shot with the ladder of powder charges made me giggle watching that. I thought to my self next he could just charge the case with lee dippers and that powder and still shoot a 1/2 inch group. Really makes me ponder that FX120i scale purchase I made. Lol. Anyways heck of a job and this series and video is great.
An interesting observation: Your best group was from the StaBall pressure testers. That is quite interesting since each load had a different powder charge. One factor is certainly that you single loaded the round almost completely into the chamber before closing the bolt. That means there were none of the normal feeding stresses on the bullet. When shooting for accuracy, I always single load that way, even on my bolt guns. Feeding from a clip always seems to open up group sizes a bit.
I’ll add one more drop to the StaBall Match bucket. Hodgon’s load data for it looks very similar to what they have for Acc 2520, which did well in this series.
Another great video. I would love to see some 350 Legend videos if you ever decide to start doing load workups . Bear Creek Arsenal has a cheap 350 Legend upper. I've had some decent groups from factory ammo.
I like all reloading videos but I can't figure out why the 350 legend even exists. Don't get me wrong I hope you enjoy yours just why get a 350 legend when 450 bushmaster already exists. If it's to much just load it lighter. That's assuming you have an ar platform. If you had a bolt gun or lever gun I think theirs just better options on the same thing. So after all that I'm really curious to why you choose the 350 legend? Maybe you see something I don't.
Find a little vibrator for those compressed loads. Makes a huge difference to create more room for bullet seating. You can buy them at Walmart below the condoms. An added plus with the Mrs too.
Have you considered using the Hyskore dual dampener rifle rest? It also comes with a hydraulic trigger actuator. It is a fabulous rest for load/combination comparison/build. Removes entire human element. Returns firearm to same battery position as long as its solidly mounted to a solid bench. ( I mean hey, you got a spanky doppler chrono...., you need a spanky rest). ;-)
My opinion is those testing groups were going to be a little off because they weren't tailored to the barrel. They were still better than factory, which speaks to the "goodness" of the load.
TY JRB Great way 2 wind down after a busy weekend this is like ASMR 4 me I like that Match rifle my favorite powder I load up ammo for my .308 WIN., .223 REM. & .224 Valkyrie I put together a very accurate coyote load for my .224 Valkyrie 28.6gr SWMR 62gr Hornady BTHP Federal premium brass and federal AR match small rifle primer @ 3303 fps outta 24" Blackhole weaponry barrel I actually like all their powders I use Long Rifle for .224 Valkyrie 88gr ELD,..243 WIN 87gr Hornady Varmint bullets in 6mm creedmoor too up to 108gr bullets and 6.5 creedmoor 140gr bullets and like their Precision Rifle powder for .224 Valkyrie 80gr ELD, .22-250rem and .243 win for the light bullets and their Ultimate and Auto pistol powders for my Nina Ross. Keep up the good work Mr. Johnny
I was talking to a guy about 223 loads at a store the other day while buying some varget and I mentioned your channel.. He said of course i watch JRB lol anyway we look forward to some new videos. Some 7.62x39 150ish gr loads out of a quality barreled ar15 would be awesome
Can't remember if it's Nosler or Speer that lists load density with load data. Many loads specify certain powders that cannot fit into the case with max loads. The density %age really helps you pick max loads using heavy bullets that intrude into the powder space. Prevents distorted casings.
Much like a barrel reamer (when you chamber a barrel), we need a reamer for die seating stems so we don't deform the bullet when seating it. You'll have some bullet to bullet shape variation. But make the reamer true to spec.
I work for an ammo manufacture here in Illinois and we are basically the rep for Shooters World in our area. We sell it along with our ammo and we also use it an all of the ammo we make. Anyhow i recommend you give some of their other powders a try. Perhaps, Precision which is very much like Varget, Long Rifle which I enjoy, and the SW4350 is very good too.
@phyco clown.......we are using 73-04 in our .223 and our .308. Yes, it will be called "AR Plus". We are getting very good velocities with it. With 24.5gr and a .55 gr hornady FMJ we are getting around 3050fps from a 16" and there is room to go up. And like most other SW powders........its clean.
Seems to me that unknowingly screwing in the seating die down to achieve OAL may unknowingly crush your brass our start a roll crimp. I usually seat my seating dies to the brass first. all the way down to contact the brass then back off slightly. Keep up the good work NICE STUFF
I enjoy watching your videos but I can't help but think the first group says everything anyone needs to know about load development. Try the same with different seating depths as well as powder charges.
I have a stag 1-7. Twist barrel. It shoits the sig elite 77gr 233 ammo at 2730 into a inch at 100. Amd I am going to start trying some 75gr hornady bthp with 8208 xbr. What is your thoughts on that bullet powder combo. Waist of time just go to the sierra 77gr or idk the hornady is much cheaper amd if a 16 inch barrel will shoot I to a inch or so at. Should be good right and vel around 2760ish with that bullet shouldnt be out of the realm right. Any info wpuldbe great thanks
like to see powder coated bullet series in 223 to see what all powders will function an AR15 . Elvis ammo has used 748 but nothing else. makes a person wonder if imr4350 would give better function at lower fps and have a good case fill.
I am planning to add a 5.56/223 bolt action to my collection this year. I wonder how well this round would work in something outside of an AR platform.
Make sure the barrel is 1-7 twist with a 5.56 chamber if you are going to run something this hot. I bought an old Savage 223 at a pawn shop and rebarreled it with a Criterion barrel. The particulars, 26" fluted heavy contour 416R SS threaded barrel, 5.56 nato chanber, 1-7 twist. I've shot 77gr Match Kings out to a 1000yds. When I do my part, it shoots .25inch @ 100yds. Hope that helped. Cheers.
I have a .223 in Remington 788. I have worked up some loads that group under 1/2" at 100 yards. Not quite a tack driver, but pretty close. I suspect the limitation is more in my ability than with the firearm or loads.
@@buggsy5 Any factory rifle that shoots that well is a keeper. Sounds like you're doing your part with the loading and shooting as well. Half minute groups are smoking hot groups. The shooting industry has a tendency to make us doubt what we have and sell us stuff we don't need in the search for ultimate accuracy.
Johnny, I’d like to see you try some faster powders like Benchmark and H335. I’ve had great luck with these in my 18” AR with Hornady 75gr BTHP’s. In my experience 18” and shorter barrels really like faster powders.
buggsy5 I will have to try that. What do you think could be happening to the round being fed from the magazine rather than single feed to cause better accuracy when single fed? People have proved the bullet doesn’t change overall length by being chambered.
I am extremely disappointed you aren't making videos this year. I've sat down for hours watching your videos. No one on the internet has a better reloading channel. So thank you for the videos you have for us. Still very sad. Thanks again brother!
Plus one on this!!
I’ll echo that
I concur. Merry Christmas.
So glad this series isn't going to end. Thanks Johnny.
Then it ended 🙂
You always have THE best and informative loading videos anywhere around period... thanks for the very hard work you put into this craft!
Yes been looking forward to more in this series
It's definitely a good day. I would like to see more of the 300 Win Mag. I am curious about how that chassis is working out. It is about the only thing I can find for my Savage 111.
Crazy man, I've been watching your old 223 videos for the past week. Now you throw up a new one. Must be a message from the reloading gods.
Wow, just bought a box of the 77grs yesterday and been watching the old series the last few days and bam!! You put this out today... Thanks JRB
Absolutely love this 262 series
I'm getting great results with N140 in my Colt M4. Velocity is unfortunately low due to the 16" barrel. Twist is 1in7. N540 looks promising too. Great video! Your time is appreciated!

Just took my mk12 out to 1000 yards today! 24 grs of tac, wcc brass, rem 7 1/2 primers, 2.26 oal. With suppressor I'm pushing them out at 2790 on a cold day. 45 mins of adjustment!!
I can’t believe your getting that velocity with only 24gr tac. Who made your mk12? 24.8 gr tac I’m getting 2760
@@keithreinert5835 HCS. I ordered it about 2 years ago. And do you run a suppressor?
I think it's great to have you back and cranking out videos. I like the addition of your shot spotter to the mix and the new crono provide great information. The one think I like to see added is the SD to the info added at 39:05. Thanks you for your efforts it is greatly appreciated.
WOOOOT just what I was wanting to load some heavy 223!! Thanks Johnny!
Johnny.....
You are doing a bunch of awesome stuff with your channel. I enjoy all of it, but this Mk262 clone series is UNFINISHED.
Great to see your .223 vids again.
Keep up the great work Johnny!
Now a true nail driver!
...been playing catch-up with the series, what a brilliant piece of reloading research and data, great effort and much appreciated!!
Wow my mouth dropped when I saw the groups for the Varmint load. Nice velocity too!

I have to admit. Sometimes I start a video I've already watched and go to bed. Just so I can support this channel.
I just bought a pound of staball 6.5 and I plan on loading up some of your mk262 loads. Can't wait to try them out.
Hope the new year has treated you well. Love the MK262 videos. Your guidance has been invaluable!
I’ve had the best results with H4895, of course I’m not cloning the mk262, just shooting accurately

I would love to see a video showing how you create your targets. I like how you space out each circle. Loved the video.
Yep I've been around a while. Don't blow your face off! I just got in from the shooting range, and saw the bell! Nice!
Me too, still got my face.
I just became a Patreon and this was the video I was hoping you would do soon!
Any chance of doing a Mk262 addendum with the new Staball Match? I’m hearing good things.
Snow won't stop me. Rain on the other hand will. I hate walking through the quagmire one of the ranges I go to can become.
I purchased a woa 20 inch varmint barrel in November. Realy appreciated this video. As I haven't had a chance to break it in yet. 👍👍👍

Not really. Most, if any effect from the mag is due to a looser bolt carrier to receiver fit.

Benchmark is fast too
I just picked up those same calipers last week. I dig them a lot for the price. Didn’t know anyone else used them for reloading

Always enjoy the videos!
I'm looking forward to trying AR-Plus (D073.4) that's coming out soon.
@@TomSelleck777 Very nice. Definitely looking forward to trying it.
Seems to me that unknowingly screwing in the seating die down to achieve OAL may unknowingly crush your brass our start a roll crimp. I usually seat my seating dies to the brass first. all the way down to contact the brass then back off slightly. Keep up the good work NICE STUFF
A wylde chamber for .223 is very good for what your doing , my 75 gr hornady match will print under MOA .
Your heavier XBR 24.0 load was excellent in previous video. 2769fps .636” SD 7.2
Deviation better than Varmint and match rifle.
I enjoy watching your videos but I can't help but think the first group says everything anyone needs to know about load development. Try the same with different seating depths as well as powder charges.
I stuck with 77 gr SMK and Varget. It was a touch slow but groups were stupid good. If I remember, thought you had similar results with Varget.
Can't wait for more!!!
So in 2022, which powder is the king? I've got 10lbs of TAC to burn through, but I do have some 2520 laying around from my .204 experiments.
I'd like to see you use that benchmark with the 77
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure how I missed this one, but just looked at the data for Shooters World AR PLUS/Lovex D073-04
77 gr Sierra MK, 23.6gn, 2783 f/s
like to see powder coated bullet series in 223 to see what all powders will function an AR15 . Elvis ammo has used 748 but nothing else. makes a person wonder if imr4350 would give better function at lower fps and have a good case fill.
Norma N-203, Norma, N-202, Vectan 5000, 4007SSC are all around there too.
Scratch 4007ssc its unsafe and is discontinued.
Anymore testing with the 6.5 Creedmoore using the staball?
sounds like the recoil buffer spring is getting soft on your first lower.
Love this series, thanks for sharing
Keep these going!!! I love these videos
I was on my way to church when I got the notification. Almost didn't go to church lol
Johnny, I’d like to see you try some faster powders like Benchmark and H335. I’ve had great luck with these in my 18” AR with Hornady 75gr BTHP’s. In my experience 18” and shorter barrels really like faster powders.
Hey Johnny, avid watcher of yours.. how do you explain that .45 group with that kind of ES? Thanks
Some believe it’s because they were single loaded
@@keithreinert5835 From my experience, I can almost guarantee it.
buggsy5 I will have to try that. What do you think could be happening to the round being fed from the magazine rather than single feed to cause better accuracy when single fed? People have proved the bullet doesn’t change overall length by being chambered.
Do you do any videos on lead 5.56 bullets. I love to shoot 55gn lead powder coated bullets. I have to get a 1/7 twist barrel in 20"
Yes! I loved that series! Watch out for pressure in a shorter throat.
