WOW! Great information on how to make rust and so inexpensive than buying products that produce rust. I want to try it on wood and I think it will work out the same. Thank you so much. You made life much easier!!!! Grandma Crafter
should work just fine I would suggest going lighter on the paint though so when the car is moving the vibrations don't chip it off. A clear coat may help as well.

@@JebusPrimeDLC I see, in this case the salt is covered in paint so it won't touch the metal as directly as raw salt. But if you're worried about the salt still you can use sand if you want. Or just use the rust paint colors and don't use any additive. It will look just like surface rust and not as corroded
You may have to scuff the surface up a little with some sandpaper in order for the paint to stick but yes this works on steel. I also have an updated way of making rust on objects that's a little more advanced but makes great results. you can find that video on my channel.
I’m not aware of any off the shelf spray paints which adhere to PVC piping with any reliability for any length of time or for any degree of even ordinary handling.

This rusty technique you've used is one of the best I've seen. Thank you 👍
Nice work! I use various rust techniques in my rat rod bicycle builds. I will add elements of yours now too. The 'black wash ' is interesting.
Great work man, going to be using this technique on a new prop!
Thanks! I have an updated version / a different technique on how I rust things on my channel if you want to see that as well.

Simple technique, looks great. Clear video, good job.
Very good tutorial.
One of the best faux rust diy tutorials I've seen yet. Very thorough. Tx!
Thank you very much!
Excellent tutorial. I'm definitely going to be using this technique on a Nerf pistol I 3d printed. Thank you!
Brilliant!! Thank you!
When you’re done with it you can harness up a miniature pony too!
that looks pretty sick! i would imagine that on a laptop tho
Wonder if you've made a video about your favorite way to fake verdigris.
Amazing
If I use this on carton it would ruin it right? No?
Yea, but how do you make old rusty pipe look like new pvc?
Paint it over 🙄
I love this idea!! Thanks@!!

Are there alternatives to dirt and salt with neutral particles so it wouldn't harm metal surfaces I want to apply the techniques to?
Sorry I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Neutral Particles?

Hi, would I be able to do this to a steel surface, to make new metal look aged?

any reason you used kosher salt instead of regular salt?
kosher salt is a lager grain than regular salt
thanks bud
Would this work on cardboard? Its pretty stiff and firm cardboard.
I haven't tried it yet but I did research and theoretically it should work fine
Can I use this on metal
should work just the same on metal, just remember to scuff up the surface before you paint so it has something to grab on to.
Use for the pipe weapon in last of us.
A bit too red. I would do 50 50 or 60 40. Other than that awesome dude!
