I love taking the larger/slower ferries. I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere and I love the water. I'm heading to Thailand in January and was going to plan a week in Bali, but might choose Lombok instead. Thanks for the info.
I am with you on the larger ferries especially as there’s such a bad reputation for the smaller ones that will go out in bad weather. I loved Lombok and I’d also recommend Nusa Penida. I have a video here and I’d say most people just go for a day trip so it’s insanity but if you go for a few days to avoid the crowds there are some beautiful places. The color of the water is unlike anything I’ve seen.

Well I think you can get spa treatments at all costs in Indonesia but Bali for a good one will definitely be a bit more costly because it’s such a big tourist destination.

Well I don’t have small children but I did see them on the boat. Sea sickness would be my greatest concern as it was for me as an adult

You know I'm not sure. In a car it's more bumpy in the back going over bumps so I assumed it's the same with ferries if we hit waves.
