There's an item in the game that causes all burning damage on all enemies to deal their remaining damage immediately after you cast 6 spells (that means damage x duration left). If you put it on Merlin and pick the skill that reduces cooldowns every time you cast a spell, he becomes an unstoppable powerhouse that can wipe out complete encounters alone. Definitely the strongest hero in the game I'd say.
You just gave the best reason not to choose Merlin, Lady Morgaws, the best CC in the game. I used Merlin in my first play when I switched to Lady Morgaws in the second... Let's just say you want her, especially in the late act3 and "end game". She's just so much better at CC. She is a bit inferior to Merlin in damage (80 to 85%) but at that stage, you don't need your CC chars to do damage for you. Truth is, she alone almost shuts down the whole enemy unit.
Sense this is my last play around of it and doing Old/tyrant I got say my fav team set up is: Lady Morgawse, Lady Isolde, Lady Morgana Le Fay and Sir mordred. As the ice/lighting combo are fun to pull out and i really enjoy all characters, i personally found Merlin to be kind of Ahole so dont really miss him and give all 3 accessory to get at least 1 teleport per fight.
Thanks dude. Unfortunately all the good Arcanists are Old-Faith. The only option you have is Sir Ector and his "Contacts" trait means it's always best to leave him on the bench. Christians fare much better with Champions.
I thought Ector was pretty good, but Merlin stomps. Just Merlin's illusion + mindfog abilities can change the course of a battle, and they are cheap AP abilities with low cool down. He's a bit prickly in terms of getting him loyal but it's doable with some event missions and planning.
I'm agree with your top, you haven't talk a lot about illusion that is just insane in midgame defensively and lategame aggressively to buff your champion rage (you can't target directly but you can cleave/shockwave it), thanks for the free attack Merlin :)
Absolutely agree on this list but I have to mention Sir Ector. He's like a Warlock with both hexes and some fire. But his special trait with the extra dust makes him pretty good to keep. But yeah Merlin is something else. His raven and illusion abilities makes him my favorite. Making enemies waste their turn hitting the illusion is just bonkers while spreading the ravens around is hilariously fun.
Ector isn't bad, but less specialized than all the other arcanists in the game. You also get 100 gold for each mission you don't take him along, so I always swap him for another arcanist asap.
@@agnosticpanda6655 Yea he's not as good as Merlin or Morgana, but I like him more than Dagonet. I also think it's worth keeping him on the roster as your backup arcanist due to the gold/relic dust he gives you. The relic dust is huge when you're trying to get the good relics to snowball your mid game.
I left Ector off the list because I think it's best to leave him on the bench due to his trait. His kit is cool but his trait is top 3 in the game so I never want to use him.
@@SlanderedGaming If he's sitting on the bench it means he's not being dismissed! Only got 12 slots so he's got to be kept over some of the other arcanists unless you run them all ^^
Is there a Christian/Righteous Arcanist in this game? And are they any good? My overall opinion of Sir Ector is pretty "meh," so I'm hoping to find a better fit for that slot on my team.
Ector is Christian. But he's tyrant so if you're on a Christian run you might not max his loyalty but his special ability with getting money and extra dust after missions is worth keeping him no matter which morality or faith you're on.

Oh wow I don't think I've seen that item before. Great call out.
My balan with +aps per kill and damage per kill and teleport to closest enemy after kill wipes whole encounters by himself
Yeah, with the proper setup Merlin can one shot 6 or even more fomorians a turn with that trinket. Made the game too easy.

Yeah Lady Morgawse is pretty amazing. I am going to wait a couple more months and then probably jump back into this to see how it's going.

While I love Merlin's kit I am not a fan of his personality in the game AT ALL.
So will they have more spells like divinity or does they really have just like 3-6 spells each character?
Nope spells are more limited in this game.
Good vid mate, what's your best Christian faith arcanist?

Many cheers! @@SlanderedGaming
Cheers mate, do you have a vid for the best knights for certain buildings? that would be helpful! @@SlanderedGaming
@@MrReign Nope never made that just a general guide for buildings overall. Some of them are really good so defintely always check the traits.

Yup he can light up a battlefield like no other.

Nice! I didn't use Merlin much late game so didn't play around with Illusion all that much.
Merlin literally carried my old faith/righteous hard play though all the way though endgame. I'm kinda dreading trying to the game without him now lol
LOL Yeah he's no joke.
I personally enjoy playing with the Fairy Knight a lot ! A bit like a fusion between a sage and an arcannist :)
Nice the Fairy Knight came off as very cool.

I agree, I love Ector. Early fireblast is a godsend on higher difficulties and the dust he brings in is crucial for snowballing with relics

Unfortunately they're all Old Faith, except for Ector who is Christian. And none of them are Righteous and two of them are Tyrants (Ector and Dagonet)

Nope no Christian Righteous options unfortunately.
No, appearantly all mages in this game are evil who dont believe in god :D
