    That's a cool combo! I like that the loot is random so you have to adapt to what you find. I have buffed my champion up similar to your archer. He gets 3 AP and 2 movement AP on a kill - I have not got the Challenge item yet. I had to switch the difficulty to hard after a few missions not taking any damage & it's more challenging for sure, a bit of a knife edge.
    It looks like you have not got on with Vanguards. I have struggled with traps but the leapy backstabby build is really fun and effective (on Sir Tristan in my case)

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  2 года назад

      Yeah Vanguards are just not my personal thing. I like my Rogues to be archers, not big on double dagger builds and that's what Vanguards feel like to me.

      @@SlanderedGaming I tend to skirmisher types in tabletop gaming :) In CRPGs I like specialists, I love archers in Solasta though.
      I did not mention that I appreciate the analysis. I think control in the game is a bit lacking but I do use it in place of off tanking. I try to kill everything on one flank & control everything on the other. Guinevere's freeze, maybe a trap or knock down plus Merlin's Illusions and slow. I agree slow on melee is terrible but ranged slows on melee enemies can be be great!

    Excellent advice especially as most other RUclips advice avoid the class of archers altogether because on hardest level they don't have AOE or similar damage to stop the "hordes". Still to find the the right gear combination when it is needed need some luck

  • @Jasta85

    Note that loot seems to be completely random in this game, I've opened a chest, got a relic, then had to reload, opened the chest again and got something completely different. I'm in Act 3 and have yet to get a heavy armor relic, I did get a weapon right out the gate that let my champion get armor back on kills which went a long way towards survivability. So you have to be flexible with gear since you never know what might pop up.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  2 года назад +1

      That's true and part of why you shouldn't just depend on drops to get good gear. Get that upgrade on the Merchant that unlocks relics and make sure you are checking the Merchant and Enchanted Tower every time they restock. Make Sir Ector the master of the Enchanted Tower and always leave him at Camelot so you get Relic Dust and money after every mission. All this together should help ensure you are able to deck your team with critical gear over time.

      @@SlanderedGaming so this strategy doesn't work. it looked really strong. I am playing on hard difficulty act 1 in non-roguelite mode and the game feels... um.. unbalanced? the game throws like 20+ enemies at you and expects you kill all of them in like 1-3 turns with no gear. Its like all characters are either really weak or your expected to *not* play hard difficulty without beating the game already.
      That or the game expect you to play on "story mode", farm gear and then beat the game, but that just makes no sense at all. Sir Leodigrace or Sir Lucan would be good and for the backline assassin Sir Tegyr would probably be your best bet. So a better team would be better team would be Sir Galahad, White Knight/Sir Lancealot, Sir Leodegrace/Sir Lucan, and Tegyr.

    My initial impressions were I really like this game!, I did when I first tried it, thought this is cool! Medieval X-Com!
    BUT there's a few things that ruined it for me, granted I haven't played it for that long but...
    - There don't seem to be any actual weapons and armour loot to get.
    Just runes that you can add to your weapon to upgrade it / buff + add damage/blood etc
    it's not half as exciting as finding a cool new sword and such or nicer gear.
    - The battles are very repetitive and samey and I've had issues (bugs?) where my units won't attack, despite having plenty of AP and won't use potions.
    - The other thing that REALLY SUCKED was the difficulty.
    Normal was challenging but do-able for me but it was way too easy on story (to the point where the enemies can barely even damage your units).
    *A good example of my issue - On Normal difficulty, I had a party of 5, three of them got injured on a mission - game told me it would take 5 mission to heal one of them - 5 Missions!,
    Five Missions! FIVE.
    Yes, you can pay to heal them in 1 mission but I could only afford to do that for one of them, which meant I now had only a party of 3, when it was already challenging with 5.
    Bear in mind that the missions only get harder as you progress - so obviously it's going to be MUCH harder with 3 than 5.
    My current party members are bound to get injured now that there's less of them and It hardly seems fair because now I'm stuck in a vicious cycle - when the injured in the hospice are finally healed, they're just going to be replaced with injured from my party and the constant rotating healthy/injured units thing is enough to put me off the game to be honest, so annoying.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  2 года назад +1

      Sorry about the bugs you've been experiencing, I didn't have that in my playthrough.
      The type of enemies you face changes over time and that will change the flow of the battles. I think you get your first new wave around level 7.
      I stuck to Normal for most of my playthroughs.
      The injury cycle definitely continues throughout the game. You are given a large group of heroes to work with and the expectation is you will keep around eight of them leveled up to ensure you can switch them out easily. I enjoyed the difficulty but it's definitely not for everyone.
      On a separate note I keep hearing about X-COM but I have never played it. Looking forward to checking that game out one day.

    It looks like you're playing either on story/normal difficulty based on the level 18 mission and the hp of those mobs. In that case you can pretty much use anyone and get through the game. The game was balanced around hard which is why roguelite mode is locked to hard difficulty and then normal mode can go up to very hard. Playing on hard or above dindrain or any marksman really falls off starting act 3 as enemies get a big boost in hp and start to use a lot more abilities that can debuff or cc you. Vanguards are by far the best killing machines in late game especially on higher difficulties. Mordred unfortunately is necessary in most missions so you have to have him in the group so the ideal build is something like mordred, vanguard, sage, arcanist or another sage for inspire. Lancelot is good too since he brings inspire. Inspire lets your vanguard get multiple uses of jump to get behind targets for assassinations in a single turn. You gear them similar to dindrain getting AP every kill etc. If you can get a relic ring with teleport for someone like lancelot he becomes deadly as well since you can teleport for a backstab each fight. I actually like to bring an arcanist for my 4th due to death hex that can take off a massive amount of hp from an enemy in one turn and let the vanguard one shot them when they otherwise would not have been able to.

      Since he serves as the tank I like keeping Sir Mordred in the midst of where all the action is. You can perform Running Charge on a distant enemy even if there's an enemy right in front of you. This creates opportunities for him to knock down archers/spellcasters who are then easily dispatched with a couple of melee strikes. Since he's in the middle of everything, melee opponents still run after him to engage once again. Due to that I believe it is worth picking up that upgrade for Sir Mordred.

Then I had to level her up some and now I am just really taking her out for the second time since I started. But Sir Ecter has been doing well on the early levels so no harm.

    I wish I had found this channel before I played my first go through. I died because I played on ironman and Mordred died on mission 5. Every freaking mission was a struggle because I was trying to play it like x-com 2. LOL. Then I saw your channel and started a new game and man, it's not that it's easy or anything but it's not a struggle either like the first game was. My only injury was because I didn't see the mob behind my archer during a set up and he hit me pretty dam good until I killed him. I still made one mistake that I was able to overcome. I am only level 4 and 5. My archer was getting healed and I put the mage dude in for training so I didn't realize I had no long distance toon now. I had one but he was in that "overflow" area at the time. And when I tried to take him out of training, it let me but I still couldn't choose him for the next mission for some reason. I still won but it was more difficult than it should have been.
    When I first saw this game about a week ago, it really didn't impress me much. It looked simple and I didn't like the graphics all that much. I read a few good reviews and I said maybe down the road when I'm bored with my other games. Well boredom came 2 days later. Or should I say anger and rage! I was playing x-com2 on Ironman and it was fairly late game. I went on a mission and 5 Archons and the Archon King ambushed me all at once. I hate Archons. They tend to give me the most trouble. But the big problem was they knocked my medic unconscious. If that dosn't happen I still would have won. Anyway because it was a timed mission, I now had to carry several unconscious troopers back to the landing zone so they wouldn't be held prisoner. I only managed to get one trooper carrying one unconscious dude back and missed getting the others on board by one turn. I was so mad I rage quit. I mean almost all my top soldiers and equipment gone in a flash. If you never played xcom, you get very attached to your toons. Especially if you name them and design them to look like yourself and people you know. It really hurts when one of those toons that you had from the beginning thats named after your daughter or yourself dies. I started to decide if I wanted to play this game or Crusader Knights 3 with the new add on I hadn't played yet. I figured let me play something light and tried this game. Thats why I said let me do Iron man and evil. I really didn't think this game would be that challenging. Well, imagine my surprise when I started to realize there was way more to this game than I first thought. I looked at the clock and 3 hours had gone by. Then I died as I mentioned above. Now I looked for game hints and found this channel and the game makes so much more sense to me after watching a few of your vids and is way deeper than I first thought. The graphics are even enjoyable for me now. Also, as I mentioned before, sense I am going evil, out of the characters you reviewed, I only have like 3 of them I think. Or use 3 of them. So my experience is somewhat different than yours and I am sure will only diverge further as I play longer. So I get the fun of trying to apply your hints to other characters you haven't reviewed yet.

      @@SlanderedGaming Dude, X-com 2 is literally the best turned based tactical game ever made. In the character creator you can actually get your toons to somewhat look like the people you want them too. So as I said, if you play Ironman and one of your toons you may have modeled after a loved one dies, there is a VERY strong pull to start the game over. They start off pretty dam weak and you have to be very careful with them so they don't die. As they level up and get more skills and better equipment through research, they become bad asses. When you start, they are wearing next to nothing but street clothes. By the end of the game they look like they are wearing full "Ironman" suits. But the Aliens are getting harder and harder too. If you do play it, make sure to get the "War of the Chosen" add on. It adds a integrated story to the game and special missions that makes it well worth the price. And there are tons of mods you can discover for yourself. Check it out on you tube. There are a zillion play throughs on there. But you might not want to watch a play through because it's fun not knowing what the new aliens will do and missions and stuff until you see it the first time..
      Your channel is one of the best I have seen for showing how things work in a game. I am doing so much better from just watchin 2-3 of your vids. I would have watched more but I am too busy playing. LOL.

      Playing on Hard I've had Mordred almost single handedly kill entire encounters if you can find a choke spot to stand in so only a couple of enemies can attack him at a time. WIth his HP on hit/kill gain (combined with a couple of regain armour every 10 HP healed from any source items), the Mass Heal relic and his temp HP ability, tons of armour and high block he is almost unkillable. The problem is that the AI targets in order of least very armour often so he gets ignored unless you really jam him in the enemy's faces.

      You can play in hard and really hard mode if you find Lady Dindraine and Guinevere too powerful...in mid to late game, you are swarmed with tons of enemies on the field, greatly outnumbering your party...if you can't control the field and kill fast enough, you're done. If you nerf them, what are you going to do in mid to late game? Keep reloading the fights in frustration or play on easy mode?

      @@SlanderedGaming I played on Hard and Very Hard. I usually kept my tank near the mages and ranged everything down. Morgana has some strong CC and the mages Slow Hex along with Merlin's Ravens and other tricks are pretty effective. Mordred was setup to gain armor from doing damage or healing so he was pretty tough to damage.
      For the maps where enemies come at you from both sides I'd usually focus one side down while moving into their area and pick off the other side.

    I’m going down the Christian/Righteous path and Lady Dindraine is essential to my build. I have put permanent potion buffs on her and she legit can sometimes solo a boss. I was rolling a tank and off tank for ages but I’ve now found a way to play a little smarter with Sir Tegyr (Vanguard). Spend a little time upgrading him and he can kill up to 3-4 dudes in a turn and then hide, he is by far my biggest hitter with the jump ability buff and backstab attack.

    • @SlanderedGaming

    • @seifeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
      @seifeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 2 года назад

      This works with any vanguard, i'm currently playing with righteous/old-faith and i have Sir Bedivere doing this but with throwing daggers instead. Later on enemies will have a lot of perception making it harder to sneak around them. so this stategy kinda becomes obsolete.
      Ironically the best backstabbers that i'm using right now are Merlin and the Faerie Knight (both arcanists), last upgrade on Teleport it's to stay hidden after you tp, so basically Merlin is a long range backstabber when you need him to be one and Faerie Knight... well he is just S tier character due to him having range, dodge, and the ability to deny up a lot of attacks with Ice Shield. I literally get him to attack the backline getting rid of archers and mages while also being able to tank them if there are too many of them while also having the ability to peace out if he gets too much damage.
