Some RUclipsrs call this a 'Fleet Update', I'm calling it a life update.
Welcome back! Today I am going to give you an update on the current status on all of my cars! That means hearing from such favorites as the Volvo V70R, Maserati Coupe GT, BMW 528i, C4 Corvette, Malibu Classic, AND the Prius! Only one of those cars breaks, and only one of them has been sold! Lots of excitement in this one. Including special cameos from my dad's classic cars, and even some metal punching machines!
Thanks for watching!

I just love the metal fabricator with the upgraded floppy disk. These machines are part of history and deserve to be used. Thank you Elliots uncle.
He loves keeping these old machines alive!
You need something rotary for the empty slot so you can be the motary notary in a rotary.
The FreeMW deserves a paint job and if you do please keep it the same color.
Maserati cars left the factory broken. You're already ahead of the game with yours running so well. The transmission not shifting is how it helps preserve the engine.
Nice to have you back from Monterey, the fleet update was great and who would have thought an elderly Italian car would break down on camera?
I know, who would've thought!
@@ElliottAlvisalways remember , it was too broken for Freddie, Too broken for the fire damaged king...that should have been a warning
Hey Elliot's back! The most shocking thing in this fleet update is a vehicle that Hoovie gave you is the best of the lot, lately it seems like anything he touches is directly on it's way back to the Wizard 😅
You keep breaking (and fixing) things and you won't run out of content, either!
Haha, I guess you’re right!
Yes do a cheap car. And show the details on the shift linkage. Im thinking about replacing the loose linkage in my manual transmission car so that would be interesting for me.
I'll do my best. I'm hoping it's something simple!
RUclips car guy: Spend hours/days trying to fix an airbag light.
Still use a 2x4 to hold up the hatch.
nailed it.
Wow, I haven’t seen seat beads in about 30 years. As far as I can tell they’re supposed to help if you have back problems by making you so unbearably uncomfortable that you forget about your back problems.
Also, cheap car project for the win.
😂
Of all the cars to leave the channel, the Malibu Class was the one to go. Can't help but still shed a tear, though I'm happy that somebody else is going to try to give her another chance at life! The future is looking exciting, Elliott! I'm very excited for you and your channel!
I was sad to see the Malibu Class go as well, but it was time. Thank you for your unwavering support!
Ah, used Italian cars... as durable as a newspaper hat in a rain storm.
😂😂😂
Seat beads are for swampass. It is pretty common even for long haul (think Iron Butt...over 1000miles in a day) motorcyclists.
Seat beads are there to allow airflow to your back when you're sitting in the car for hours on end. I used to have a set on my touring motorcycle, and they actually worked as advertised.
Be careful pulling an airbag steering wheel. Make sure the whole car is depowered for a while. I did it on a minivan once and pulled the battery with the headlights on, then left it alone for about two hours.
Great video, hope the Maserati gets worked out cheap!
I'll be sure to be careful. Airbag work always makes me nervous.
See if Hoovie will sell you the 300D from car-trek... :)
Wouldn't that be something. It would be right up my alley!
Meanwhile..
The whole point of seat beads was for the cheap fleet vinyl seats. They allowed ventilation during summer for all those non A/C cars.
We move the cheap car stuff! Quick flips are fun to watch
I'll see what I can find!
Thanks for the advert , great video as always keep up the good work !
Definitely go steal one of Hoovie's hoopties...he won't notice. Or get a cheap project to fill the Malibu Class void. Congrats on selling that....well...what's left of it.
You found my old work computer from 1989. Dos? 3.3 or higher? HA! My first computer was a Prime Computer 850...while working at Prime Computer. Yeah, I'm "old".
Makes me wonder if the fungus grew too much last night with the Maserati....oh right, these aren't live videos.
Yes, you are sponsored...you are a REAL RUclipsr now. Enjoyed the VinWIKI story!
Oh yeah, Nice that you're showing some of the cool shop stuff too. Can't wait to see how the lighting comes out!!
Been missing some Elliot content!! Finally watching the upload
Really enjoyed the update! Sorry about the Maserati. Glad you had (lots!) of folks come to the rescue! Lol! The 3-D models are so cool… Congrats on that. Love your videos!!!
Great update...bummer on the shift linkage, but should be an easy fix. I think we need to see you as the new 4th in the next Car Trek series.
That would be awesome! I'd love an opportunity like that.
I was just thinking about the Maserati. Glad for the update.
It was an unfortunate update, but an update indeed lol.
Here's hoping we get another video about the wiring and control setup for the new lights!
I'll see how much of it I can get filmed!
Another fun video, and I’m glad to see your channel growing! Thank goodness for your uncle. Those old school machining tools are only useful because of guys like him that were around back in the day and recall how to operate them. In less than a generation, they’ll become museum pieces as DOS support and the folks who know how to use it dwindle away.
Hey Mr Motary Notary, as always, thanks for the shop update, it's unfortunate about the Maserati but the seat beads in The Prius are truly lovely!! I'm overwrought with ambivalence over the departure of the Chevy Class but I'll get over it as soon as you get a replacement Hooptie!!! Thanksgiving for sharing this fun adventure!! 😲😲😁
Good to see you back on the channel Elliott, shame about the Maserati but nice to see everything else is sort of moving along. 🙂👍🇬🇧🇺🇲🇬🇧🇺🇲
Fantastic to see an update. I thought you’d appreciate my meme on the FB page 😂 Keep them coming 👍🏻
Thanks for the update, too bad the shifter broke 🤦🏼♂️
Very interesting video! I loved seeing the metal punching machine!
I think you should do a clearcoat repair on the FreeMW. Sand the loosde clearcoat of and spray clear coat over it. It won't be perfect , but it will be cheap and more presentable. As for the next cars to buy, perhaps you could ask Hoovie/Tavarish/Ed/Car Wizard to give you a car purchasing challenge (type of car within a specific budget, but you are free to decide make and model). It might get you some more viewers. Also try getting other youtubers to help you buy/work on cars. Your channel is very good, it just needs more traffic!
My dad had a 1929 Model A Ford, but it was *nothing* like your dads. Wow, what a beautiful Roadster...a real creampuff!
Ahhh the Fleet update. I like your shirt .
Thanks! Gotta love the cat shirts lol 😂
Fantastic update!
The shift linkage in my Corolla "broke" and I had to fix it with just the few tools I had in the car. One plastic bearing sleeve had worn out over 15 years.
Yeah, I'm hoping I can fix it without having to order some expensive part from Italy lol.
@@ElliottAlvis what if it’s a plastic bearing sleeve… from Italy?
Reading the comments and agree with everyone, yes on cheap cars, yes you have great video's and great shirts and great lighting but no one has even mentioned the Corvettes (plural) that 54 is so gorgeous, wow, I always loved those first body styles, but then over here you have in my opinion the most desirable and the Corvette of my dreams 1960. I'll say it again Wow and Wow. I don't think that Elliott owns them I think they are his Uncles or Fathers but thanks Elliott for showing us those beauties, you just don't see 1st and 2nd Gen Corvettes too much anymore, so thanks for sharing. I know Elliott owns the yellow Corvette and I would love that one too. But those old ones are special.
Great video and fleet😀😎
I too was shocked by the size of the box my wiper blades from FCP Euro came in!
Here from vinwiki. Kinda new to that channel as well. I'm in Hutch and glad to see multiple Kansas creators putting out good content
Thanks for checking out my channel Chris! My in-laws live in Hutchinson!
I have many miles on the two piece bushings on my BMW, makes a world of difference. Difficult to install, no other downsides.
I'm holding you to that Corvette promise... watchin' you Mr. Notary. 🤨 Your dad's car's are absolutely show worthy beautiful. Shame about the Masarati but I feel like it was only a matter of time from what we saw the last couple of times. I'm surprised the Malibu was saved from the wrecker, I almost expected there to be a sculpture made from it's crushed parts rather than a cool 3D model. And yeah I think we'd all like to see a new -cheap- inexpensive car. Maybe something with a little potential that just needs a bit of love, but ol' 22's surprise breakdown might be about to drain the bank account.
From my experience driving with leather seats your back tends to get very sweaty and the beads stops the back of your shirt from being drenched with sweat due to lack of ventilation in which the beads drastically help.
You were able to sell the Low Class?? Outstanding! Also, great video, very well done!
It was for the same price the junkyard was offering, but I felt better about it going to someone who wanted to fix it!
@@ElliottAlvis LOL.....or perhaps you have a little bit of a sadistic streak......:)
Great video as ever.
Thrilled that you're getting a sweet lighting setup. Best lighting rig on RUclips? Maybe. Now I'm looking forward to beautifully lit TopGear style B roll. Maybe it's work investing in a smoke machine? Only joking, but not really
I have a smoke machine! See my Doug DeMuro video lol. I would love to get the Top Gear style B roll and cinematography one day though.
@@ElliottAlvis I see the Car Trek Maserati, on an abandoned airfield at dawn, with wisps of mist (dry ice) drifting past it.
Do you have any graduated filters?
Nice job Elliott! I’d like to see more videos of the Volvo
Hey Elliot, if you want a really sporty but also comfortable feel on the FreeMW, I would recommend putting on the M5 suspension. It makes the car feel and handle so much better!
I had seat beads in my work vehicle back in the day…. I used them to cover up the cig burns when my boss rode with me 🤣
I had a nearly 1 hour commute each way thru featureless Iowa cornfields. Seat beads are great because they keep you from sticking to the seat and keep your back and legs cool. They make you look kind of creepy, I guess, but long duration drivers used them for a reason I assumed, and that was confirmed when I got a set. Might be the only person in south central Wisconsin driving a Saturn with seat beads, though.
Turbo seals aren't too bad, I replaced them on my 850. Only down side is the turbo is behind the engine. Oh well. Re the seals, I'm having them replaced in my 960 in 3 weeks. I have all the parts to re and re the head, have head boiled (the car's head, not mine), replace seals and re-install. Looking forward to not being the mobile mosquito fogger for my neighbourhood. I do enjoy your channel Elliott. All the best. Paul
Thanks for the helpful and encouraging comment Paul!
Love ya Uncles Machines. I worked on machines that were converted at least 3 to 4 times. in terms of controls, Like them. But many got stuck with 90's gear reliable enough.
And all of the Ms-dos based programed bits were the BEST. So reliable and easy enough to program.
I bet a ya BMW just needs shocks ! The rubbers - maybe ? but the Shocks those cars just heavy on them. Sure you could do all the rubbers but most lasted. Well they do down under no Salt and snow.
NO.1 lesson right there have a backup car, With almost no mods and very reliable.
Nice video sir 👍🏻👍🏻
Damn elliot you have that rockstar lighting set up
Thank you Elliot. I need the pick me up. Live laugh and loaf. Kitties are angels among us.
Sucks the Maserati linkage broke.
Also, nice to see old tools being used. Very cool!
Hmmm Nice Vette.
Eliot, I really appreciate your unintentional(?) Self-deprecating sense of humor.
But why in the world did you expect nothing would break. LoL
My Dad was a cab driver and had the seat beads in the car he drove. The fleet owner installed them, Dad would rather have had a sheepskin, which unlike seat beads actually work. I think it's one of those things that's just such a cliché that it's expected to be there - like the way Mariachi band members all have to wear kitch sombreros, or family restaurant chains all have to serve horrible bread sticks...
I think the seat beads prevent back sweat. Never experienced them, but seems like that might be a possible explanation.
3:32 did you knock that hatch holder loose? If so, how’s your head? Lol
Gotta love the flat palm slap...
Airbag light is one of the most annoying things ever. Car can have 5 other lights but when that red shit goes away I feel like I'm 80% done 😂
Take the FMW to Maaco! And do a video while it gets worked on! That would be interesting! I might spill my lunch on myself watching that!
Time to buy a cheap project Prius. :)
Haha, that would be a fun idea!
With the BMW it could be worth looking at getting parts that aren't made of plastic if it's used on this particular model year, like thermostat housing, reservoirs on the stock radiator might be plastic as well so replacing that with one that has it made in aluminium as the plastic ones cracks with age, heat & cold cycles.
Bushings too replace through the suspension could be worth looking up if they are replaceable by themselves leaving the ball joints & metal sleeves in place or if they require replacement of say the lower control arms entirely.
If the bushings are inserted into metal sleeves they can be a bit of a pain in the ass too diy back in with whatever press tools you got but it is possible still, just prepare for hours of struggle before you find a method that kind of works every other try where it gradually just gets easier too do.
Fcpeuro that you mentioned probably has some idea on how too sort out the suspension properly along with maintenance as i came across a video with them talking about the F30 generation of BMW suspension.
Think it’s so cool that you’re saving that car and he seem to be a regular guy like me and enjoying it.
Thanks Garnet!
Congratulations on the affiliate deal!! Only, I always thought if it was going to be any brand, it would be Simple Green 🤣😂
But this one is much cooler. Really sorry to see what happened with the Maserati. Looking forward to seeing it back on the road 🤞
And very interested to see what the new project is likely to be 🤔
Simple Green will come through one day! Good ear on catching wind of the new project! 😉
@@ElliottAlvis 😉
In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit, these men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune.
If you have a problem,
if no one else can help,
and, if you can find them,
Maybe you could hire the A-Team
“Make this one fun”?!?
They’re ALL fun, silly!!
Nice video 👍
Is that old machine called a turret? That 3D model doesn't look like the front of your free-MW.
Looks like living room art to me
It would look good in any room!
I use an adjustable aluminum crutch to hold open the hatch on my Pilot. The question I have is this: Did you actually cut that stick to length or try many random pieces, and picked the one that worked best? 🤣
Damn, those air compressors. Wow, just wow.
My Maserati goes 185, the linkage broke now it don’t drive.
The thing that feels like warped brake rotors on the E39 may actually be the thrust arm bushings. They only seem to last 50,000-70,000 miles.
Twice that long from my experience
Yo Eliott have a 2014 V60, been thinking of poly bushing the entire car, drives perfect haven’t changed anything mechanical yet (fingers crossed) just thinking of preventative that they’ll last longer than OEM bushings, car has done 156k miles so far & drives like new.
A reliable BMW? Fascinating! The Kansas Kar Mafia Hoovie, Jake JRGO Wizard should do a Car Trek for the rest of us series $1-2k Festiva vs Smart vs IQ vs Yaris vs Mini on a GoKart track in reverse too to compare and contrast?
Love your live laugh loaf shirt
Yes a Cheap car project, just not a honda something like Isuzu pick up from the early 90's would be cool.
Thats a good idea!
Parts availability for a 90s isuzu might be awful.
eh elliot on the volvo couldnt the turbo,s returnline be blocked so less oil is coming back and it overfills the turbo?
love the shirt lol
Your promo codes have to start being Motary10 🤣
What you have there is called; a box of neutrals
Maserati limited feature
Spaceball shifter 😂🤣
Lots to love in this one! lol
You act like the Prius isn’t the most famous car in your fleet but you know the truth
Did you put the BlueBus in the BMW?
Since it has a CD-Changer it should work
Somehow old machines that have old computers attached to them feel much older than machines that are old and work purely mechanically, it's weird.
He knows DOS. Now that's old.
your shop needs a rogue fab lazer CNC
can still see some missing interior parts on the maserati mr motary notary when are we getting that buttoned up sir?
Elliot is not just the only Car RUclipsr that is a notary, he is also the only one confident enough with his legs to wear shorts. If you got it flaunt it.
You need that Model A expert guy from California to come fix that Model A.
It's not broken, but I think a certain Californian Model A expert might have some good input 😉
Where do you get your cat shirts?
Man, that makes me miss my old malibu.
Damn anti-theft system shit the bed though.
You'll gain substantial subscriptions if you just put out a video turbocharging MY FREE BMW
Think the attraction of Seat Beads is they are more comfortable than nails
Adjust the valves, fix AC and drive it.
Hey Alvis, can you please remove the wrap on the Maserati 🔱? And make it stock? Cuz I feel it looks pretty bad like this, & you will be able to make another video about it.
You should buy the Cartrek Audi S4.
More DOS please
Most car RUclipsrs show how to fix things after they're broken. You may be the only one who breaks them on camera.
😂😂😂
Just missing the class of a malibu at the channel
