    Strangely in the Falkland Islands you need a firearms licence for a sub 7.5 ft/lbs CO2 BB gun or CO2 powered Airsoft gun, but anyone over 14 years old can own a .50 calibre 1500 ft/lbs air rifle without informing anyone…..so long as it only uses air and not any other gasses.

      Wow it’s amazing hearing all the different laws in other country’s. Thanks for your engagement mate.

    People need to realise the government doesn’t care about our freedoms and the police and judiciary serve the government.
    While 12ft/lbs should in my opinion be 30 ft/lbs I think we are fortunate it’s not 6 ft/lbs or that hunting is illegal.
    Realistically the best scenario to hope for is we don’t have further restrictions.

    Very valid point,I have a177 specifically because the trajectory is flatter than a 22.Cant see the laws changing anytime soon though

      Hi mate yes I have a Revere in 177 as well so get the best of both worlds and agree they won’t change the out dated way to strict law.

    TBH we should have a min of 15-18fp without the need for a FAC. Only those over 21 yrs of age could buy one. anyone under that age would have to be supervised by the owner of the gun (parent, grandparent, uncle for example) Anyone wanting a FAC gun (+25fp) would have to pass written exam, handling and safety exam, and must be over 25 with no serious criminal record. Also if accepted for FAC you must also be required to have insurance for it.

      Hi Russell, thanks for watching mate. I couldn’t agree any more with you! I think at that power the air gun is still non lethal to humans I don’t know I’m not an expert by any means! I think we should be thankful for what we have and let’s hope the I coming Labour cabinet don’t ban our loved pastime ay!
      Regards, Denny.

    i have shot both fac and sub12. i would say if you aint out hunting at very long distances with larger game there is no need. It takes more skill to shoot sub 12 imo. I prefer 177 for flatter trajectory as you mention. 22 has good knocking power but 177 gets the job done with precision. Great vid mate.subbed

    Grew up shooting sub12s now in my 50s and have various FAC cal rifles but agree 100%and have thought about it many times that sub 12 laws are very old, and in todays world of much better air rifles they would be better slightly higher like you say around around 15/20, but the public the police etc see us as a risk,and if they could ban all air rifles and FAC they would, so although I agree it’s not something I can see ever being changed by any government.

    • @Ratsinthereticles

      Hi mate yes the same as me I’ve grew up with sub 12 but I’ve never felt the need for full power FAC although I could probably be able to apply for fac as I’ve never been arrested and I have a good job and of very sound mind etc I’d probably get rejected as I don’t have permissions etc. and I agree with you if tbey could ban them they would in a heart beat. Thanks for getting involved.

    From my understanding of the English air rifle laws it had a lot to do with the uk gun makers who couldn't compete with the European gun makers weihrauch diana who's air rifles were more powerful so they went to the government to get power limits implemented, of course the government were all in , I suspect nothing to do with the government protecting British air rifle manufacturers but taking away people's rights, but thats just me , there is imo no chance of the government upping the 12fpe limit ,

    • @Ratsinthereticles
      @Ratsinthereticles  13 дней назад +1

      Yes our airgun laws are extremely strict and politics has everything to do with it sadly.
      We are lucky we can own air guns for now any way.

    Interesting point you bring up for the UK, and hopefully, for the UK, it's get taken into consideration. In NL, strangely enough, there are no restrictions for power. As you mention, safety comes first, like a back stop. Unfortunately, like most of the time, it's the 2% idiot's that the government takes into account, make law's for, and restricts it for the 98% with common sense.
    Great channel btw.👍

    I agree with this vid 100%. Sub 12 is fine for the range but for hunting 18-20ft/lb would be ideal to push the distances out to 60-70 yards. You don’t need a cannon for dispatching rabbits. I’d love an ‘Intermediate’ FAC that would allow this. Unfortunately I feel there is no chance of this at all. I think we’re heading for tighter restrictions rather than relaxing laws regarding Air rifles.

      Hi Steven thank you for watching and engaging in the comments. Yes that’s the whole point of this video to be honest I think the laws as regards to air guns is way to strict and the people that put them in place are probably passed now! It’s 2024 we have ways and means of certifying if people are responsible to own one or not! Itd just the odd nutter spoiling it for the many careful respectful law abiding shooters sadly but I do agree I think it’s only a matter of time before we will need a permit for an air gun sub 12! Imagine how better hunting would be at 20ft lb we can only dream! Or get an FAC! Cheers buddy.

    • @stevenralph8235
      @stevenralph8235 Месяц назад

      Yes the laws are definitely dated and I agree it sadly only takes a few idiots to ruin it for the rest of us. There is definitely a need and a want for something to bridge the gap between sub 12 and a full blown FAC.

      Realistically the best scenario is we keep present ‘freedoms’ - not just air guns but everything.Government is our enemy and police/judiciary serve the government.Government serves higher ‘authorities’.

    The entity that is payed by the citizens, lives by the citizens hard work, cannot dictate any rule or regulation which will diminish human rights or freedoms.
    But, in practice, it's other way around!
    Why? Because we have deliberately being hypnotized (smart phones), becoming fat (fast food, sugar in everything), sick (events 2020-2023), lazy, etc., and we have allowed the "government" to slowly but surely steer or lives into an Orwellian prison-state (smile, you're on camera!).
    The government (i.e. the people who are the owners of the UK inc.) can decide to ban everything, you would not be able to own a toothpick, and 98% of people will silently comply. Wait until they introduce digital money issued by the central banks - controlled by an unfriendly AI. Sad times for human race in general.

    I live in Spain, here the limit is 24j, basically 18 ftlbs. No safety checks, no insurance, buy guns on the internet. However you cannot use airguns for hunting. Bit crazy but then all guns laws to varying degrees make no sense

    • @Ratsinthereticles
      @Ratsinthereticles  Месяц назад

      Thanks for watching I didn’t know that about Spanish laws? It’s great that your max paper is 18 ft pound but you can’t hunt with them ? So can you hunt with a lower power AR? Thanks

    Hi Denny I can understand where you are coming from but given that people have been killed by sub 12 fpe airguns honestly mate I think it's unworkable as a passionate airgunner of many years I believe it would cause more problems than it solves I have both fac and sub12fpe rifles and they do entirely different things my fac evanix rifle does 32fpe with jsb 15.89 pellets andi is whisper quiet with an A tec mod that rifle gets an awful lot of use for pest control mainly grey squirrels a target I would never contemplate with my .22 rf which delivers just shy of 100 fpe with Winchester 42gr subsonic honesty the extra care needed with such power mate on any new permissions I initially don't take a gun I'll walk or if I'm lucky drive the whole perimeter with the binos and the range finder safety first of course I appreciate it can be frustrating mate but you're a sensible guy you understood the lethality of a 20fpe rifle and to think any 18 year old could get one over the counter just no experiment with your ammo back in the day a full poer Springer with rws hobby,s were all you needed. Keep up the good work buddy best regards from beautiful north Wales

      Hi Paul sounds like you know your stuff mate! And you sound like a true professional I tip my hat to you indeed. Would be great to have a little more power but certain criteria’s need to be met like over 25, no criminal record and some basic training in order to own one but it’s never going to happen in reality is it! My late mum was welsh from Holyhead I’m very proud of my Welsh heritage mate. Thank you for your very knowledgeable engagement.

    I had a FAC for full bore rifles, but gave that up because the laws was getting so restrictive for the LEGAL owner it was begining to grate on me. So 10 years later i took up air rifles. again the power laws are a joke BUT so be it. The only law that i now find crazy is the way the law does not choose a particular pellet to power test with. my sub 12 rifle is under on 10 heavy pellets 10.64 grn range BUT bisley mags puts it over.

      Hi thanks for your story & engagement.
      I’ve heard this story so ma y times that version pellets will push you over hence it’s always best to have you rifle under 12 and always use the same pellets or pellets you know have a gr that suites the required power.

      Hear what your saying, so legally do I require insurance for owning a shogun or any other firearm here in the U.K? But you want to force us to have it for a 20ftIb air rifle?😮
      Mate we've got quite enough rules n regs to follow, maybe just try hanging on to what we've got👍 That's gonna be tough enough make no mistake.

      @@Ratsinthereticles i could be using JSB HEAVIES 10.44 grns on a rifle from factory thats shooting 11.5lb,thats sweet. police could technically test my rifle at any point with a pellet they have, a pellet i might not have even heard or tried. they will not ask for the pellets i use. this part of the law is a joke. i shoot at a range,i will never get power checked,i have no worries but guys that get complaints from neighbours will. we should not be exppected to buy many types of pellets to cover ourselfs.

      Interesting video. Very interesting in fact.. Must add one little clause in the argument.. Different police forces have different methods of testing your rifle.. That's a fact .. To start the ball rolling ALL police forces should adopt the SAME method for testing the power of your rifle, and that way should be the Only way..
